Water cooling the Asus Maximus SE X38

Some more picks of my water cooling goodness:

The Keg has two power connectors, and Seth supplies two quality power wires.

I opted to make two connectors into one to cover more distance using some of the wires I already had laying around. I plugged two connectors into the Keg and made a plastic spacer to keep them the exact distance apart, that the Keg liked.
I soldered the wires togeather, then using electrical tape covered each one individually. I also then wrapped the entire rig up in more electrical tape, to keep it all together.

I spliced a connecting wire together, with two female ends. These were also soldered together.
It's now plenty long, for the distance that I needed to cover! :up:

I tried setting the Keg on the desk, but I still favor it on the credanza, off to the right hand side for final placement.
I will make a gradual bend in the tubing, and won't worry about it.
I just want the Keg setting in my favorite spot for it.
I consulted with local member 'Flo-Master Martin' in a few PM's, and he dosen't feel an extra foot or two of tubing, will add any large resistance into my loop.
This will be where she sits, with the computer on the right hand side of the desk:
It is hard to tell, but the Keg has a good foot between it, and the wall.
It should be able to breath there fine.

Update:
Making full use of my self sealing fittings, I decided to fire the Keg up, even befor my mobo is togeather. (Us McMASTER-CARR boy's just got it like that.) ;)

I had the 5 micron filter in the loop too, and successfully cooled it for about 5 hours. I made a newbie mistake and didn't order the teflon tape to put between the fittings, and the filter. It had a slow leak, but just setting the trash can filter on a paper towel, was good enouigh to absorbe the slow drip.

SELF NOTE: Must buy teflon tape to make the filter seal against the fittings.

My rad, pump, and lines are getting burped at the time of this posts editing. :up:
Both lights work, and no leaks of any kind inside the Keg. The unit works as advertised.
490 Wats of cooling power for my Maximus SE is now online!!
I was running straight distilled water when my 5 micron filter was in the loop. I removed the filter and put some water additives in.
My loop is currently using 1/2 a gallon of distilled water (64 FL oz).
I mixed in with that 2 drops of PT Nuke, and 1 full 4oz bottle of G11 UV Blue:

hey guys could i have the demintions for the Nb holes ?

I used the NB backplate and a caliper to get as close as I can to spec.

hey guys also does anyone have the demintions for the pwm mosfets cooler ?

I have an MCW30 on my north bridge, the stock south bridge cooler (no heat pipe) and an 80mm pointing at it (to make up for the pipe being gone). I get 38-40 on a full load of prime95 on all 4 cores (running 383x9 right now) and I saw it hit 41 when playing crysis. (those are south bridge temperatures, not cpu)

Is there any advantage to taking it off and putting AS5 on instead of the stock "glue"? It'd be a bit of work to rebuild the system for it. I can't use a block because my stock cooled 8800GTS would get in the way and I'd rather not buy heat sinks right now unless it'd be very helpful.

I wish there was a way to determine the hottest we can let a SB get, before it's heat becomes a problem....

I really dont know that that number is, only that others have said that the SB dosen't really get that hot.

I would like to know what our danger zone should be temp wise...

doesnt the SB controls HD RAID functions and some others?, me can't think of how to stress this too much for the heat to spike up so...

i think passive cooling (since most stock sinks are smallish anyhows) should suffice...

I redid the south compound with AS5 and it only took it down about 2-3 deg (40-41 to 37-38). Not really worth the time, but now atleast I know it's not that important. Maybe I'll put water on it someday :)

When i test the new 8800GTX in stock formatt i had nothing on the SB and it jumped to 47c, 4 raptors that was in RAID0 128k strip

I still am in good spirits knowing I have 11 days of foward progress being made on the delivery of my NB block. Eddie got me squared away, and my order out the door on the 17th.

He did also confirm I would be getting the new ring. I would like to see a picture posted by a member who get's the new version. :up:

When are you expecting your order to be delivered? i see it shipped on the 17th so its already been 11 days.
Mine shipped on the 21st, or 7 days ago. im just kinda wondering when i should be expecting them.

BTW, I've got a lot of stuff selling on ebay right now, so hopefully ill raise some funding for either a q9450 or my qx9650 depending on how much i make.

I think for me living in Ohio, 2 week's is the very best I can expect, but thinking more like 3 to 4 weeks is probably more realistic? Not sure yet, as the delivery time reports posted, that were made to the US, are few and seem to vary in length.

Heck, that is why I waited 27 days the first time before I started seeking conformation that my order had actually shipped.
I should have checked sooner.

Needless to say I am more than a little anxious to actually put my hand on The Mythical EK NB block. :D

I am guessing I should wrap a layer of black electrical tape around it before mounting?

I couldn't wait, so "installed" the parts on my desk, out of case and with stock cooling, just to get that Q6600 spinning :)

I have heard backplates help to prevent your mobo from bending, and can even lower your CPU temps, due to the tighter mount. ;)
That is why I ordered mine.

I did received it, and it was Vista Ultimate 64bit (and 32bit) full Retail version.
Apon close inspection, it look 100%. No fingerprints on the 2 CD's, the Quick Start Guide, and Welcome card were clean, and unbent.
I had to actually admit, that it looked unused as advertised.
Everything is looking good for my 64 bit install. ;)

To my surprise mine came today. Yes today :) but I wasn’t home and I got a notice informing me that I need to go and pick it up at the post office :(

Lucky Dog... I am glad for a conformation that they are crossing the boarder OK.

Get us a picture of how the new ring looks on your board, and or, how it looks with the stock NB backplate sitting on it. :)

I still would like to drill the holes out a bit on the backplate, and still use it if the line up is close enouigh.

It will be a dream getting my PC back togeather. I am excited again. I still have yet to power my system on for the first time.
