I would want to know that to.
Anyone managed to flash a vanilla standard non-deluxe P5E3 to either the Maximus or the Premium?

I was going to but my results are so good with the default bios i dont see the need right now.
I had to use a blow dryer and some towels on each side of the NB cooler to get it off, it was bonded with some kind of epoxy. Runs a ton cooler now and the 70mm fan I put on it blows good on the back of the 8800GTX. I feel like I cheated death doing this.

So happy with X38 and get back DDR3 on main rig ( bye bye X48 nightmare :p:) bios 1001
less than a day to get stable
with summer coming , just running 3.6ghz 1.11v
good bye BSOD, random reboots , IE7 freezes booting after express gate uuuhh and still able to go for crossfire 2 x 16 later

Got the board above the 440Mhz barrier. X3350 is running at 3.54Ghz, 1.41 volts, rock solid stable. Couldn't post the OCCT and other PI run because the GF closed them down. :(
Time to do another run! :D

Can you please post your bios settings?
I swapped out the Intel stock cooler for a tt Blue Orb II I got here http://www.thermaltakeshop.com/ref/ref-cooler.html (great prices I use them alot as of late). I was nervous about removing the stock NB cooler so I just tightened down the screws abit and hoped for the best. The Blue Orb covers the first to dimms but with a little dexterity I can still remove them. After the base attatchments its easy to remove and reinstall without motherboard removal. I had errors plugging it into the cpu fan header so I just plugged it in to a molex w/adapter. Even at full speed I barely here it at all. My gpu runs louder. I just got a new digital camera to replace my stolen one, so i will shoot some beauty pics tommorrow.
No can do. Had to drop it back down to 3.2Ghz. Crashed after 13 hours of Prime95.
I'm going to lap the TRUE and all the heatsinks on the board, apply a rice spot of AS Ceramique on each contact point and retest.
My water cooling gear will be here within the next week so I should be able to push it at least back-up to where it was if not further.
425x8 is pretty easy 24/7 setup. All the extra BS involved and crazy voltages to get 200Mhz more is just dumb.
The only thing I have found to be gimped around this board is it's owners!!!!!!!!
Here it is 95 degrees here today and even though I am water cooled I have had to turn it al the way down to the 4600MHZ range to bench.
good grief.. 65 pages of mostly whining but.....if you read close you would have maybe learned how to get the most from your systems.
you don't need to flash it to something else. you need to put together the right pieces as with anyboard. If you put parts together that weon't blend to give you the best chance for speed
that is NOT the board's fault!! I suggest you sell the damn thing. And start putting the wrong parts on some other system to :banana::banana::banana::banana: about.

Has anyone used/tried the "new" 702 BIOS? Any major changes? Currently planning on getting a E7200 to replace my E6420:P
WeldZilla, I am talking about the 45nm quad ( Q9450 X3350 ) and the 450 fsb wall. Now if you can get either of those quads to 450 and over on a P5E board I will say I am sorry to you the Zilla dude.
Just wondering for a friend - Can you flash the P5E Deluxe to the Rampage bios? or does it only work on the P5E?
Rampage bios's work fine, even gain better mem bandwidth.....
Does anyone know if the P5E3 Deluxe Wifi is more stable than the Premium Variant? Also, does the Deluxe work well with the OCZ 1600Mhz Platinum 2x2GB RAM?
I haven't looked in a while, but has Asus released a BIOS yet that fixes that damn 4:5 memory divider on the P5E? Just about everything after 107 seems to be giving my 2x2Gb G.Skill PC8000 kit a major headache. I'm running a Q6600 at 400x9, and the 4:5 divider flat out refuses to POST, the 5:6 divider (960 MHz) doesn't even pass memtest at 2.1v (this is with all timings and the FSB strap on Auto, 1.45v on the NB, and all other voltages up a notch). But it'll do 1:1 at 1.8v all day long, so I don't think the RAM is bad.
So am I missing some setting or other, or what? I'm currently using 605, if that makes any difference.
Eller
I had 4:5 and 5:6 working with Q6600 with bios 502 without too much tweaking.
Hey guys, quick question about ram upgrade:
I'm looking for a good set of DDR2 1066mhz (4GB) that can overclock to 1200mhz - either 2x2gb or 4x1 gb kits for vista 64 bit running on Asus P5E
I was looking at g skill 2x2gb kit (1066), can this be overclocked to 1200 mhz?
OR, whats the best 1066 or 1200 4 gb kit for my asus p5e on vista 64 ?
Thanks
Ok riddle me this gentlemen.. So I build a new system using a p5e. I installed a q6600, overclocked to 3.2ghz from 2.4ghz. I stablilty tested the system for 3 days using occt, prime, memtest blah blah. stable as could be. I packed up the system and dropped it off at a friends house. I started the pc up and its booting at 2.4ghz. I go into the bios and the fsb freq is set at 356 which gives me 3.2ghz. I reboot and it still posts at 2.4ghz. Even in windows it shows 2.4ghz. Any fsb I move it do even below the stock 266mhz, it still shows 2.4ghz. I can change the ram speed and that stays but not the fsb. I cleared the bios but didnt have a chance to install version 702 again. Anyone have any idea why this does this or how to fix it?
thanks
tried that already and no change. Even if i try to underclock it, it still stays at 2.4ghz.. this is odd since it was working just fine before the car ride to a differnt house..
flashed my p5e to the 403 rampage bios today and upon restart it is dead, no post at all , nothing , fans run but monitor is blank (no signal) , has any one got a solution to overcome this problem?, i have cleared cmos, removed battery , stripped the board bare, still nothing. any help would be much appreciated. cheers
Anyone have a multimeter and a P5E running the Rampage bios [or any for that matter]?
Just wondering if the extra fan headers are working so i can solder on pins to them for extra mounts.....
Hi,
i have tested my P5E (WS Pro.) today successfully at 480MHz FSB with a Q6600 without any problems. I will update to a Q9550/9650. Is there a chance that this board will also reach FSB480 with a 45mn CPU ? Or will this x38 Board generally not reach this FSB with 45mn CPUs ?
Strange i did it also ( a time ago ) and everything was fine , its sound stupid but remove cpu and install it again , u never know.
Nothing on the cha_fan 3 and opt_fan 3 here
I dunno wat the record is but 480 is not so unreachable , but its not only the board its also the cpu , my old qx9650 dit max 425 my new can do 445 but its a QX so i dont need more fsb , i just take a higher MP ;)
opt_fan 1 also nothing , i measured every combo ( 2 right , 2 left and one left and one right )
@ Cranox
this is my second p5e, the first one was flashed to this same bios and all was good, i was playing with the PCI-E freq and it black screened the same as this,
so i RA'd it, only had this for a week or so and it has the same symptoms. i did remove the cpu and start again but still no post :(
ok, now im lost for words, stripped the mobo bare again for the 3rd time, left it for bout an hour with no battery, put it back together and
wot do you know, its goin fine  , everything running and reading as it should , absolutly baffled , thanks for your input Cranox
i also have no readings for any of the optioal points
Anyone know how to enable them?
Hi
Hope it is not too rude to ask but is anyone willing to link to a P5E3 standard (non-Deluxe) BIOS newer than the latest 1002 BIOS?
I am having a few issues relating to erratic 3mark06 scores apparently it is due to PCIE-Bandwidth problems, I was also wondering if ASUS managed to tweak the 45nm support a bit more to.
Thanks
John
Guys the combo of a P5E with a 9800X2.
What was it again that you had to change in the bios in order for the card
to work/peform better?
Thanks,
Xel!
Hi, I have a P5E and this is the best overclock i'v got. I haven't found max FSB yet.

http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...rPI2MScore.jpg

I'd go higher but my temps were getting high plus I needed a lot more volts to boot with even a 1 FSB increase.
Hi guys
I have a P5E3 vanilla, standard non-Deluxe or Premium. Does anyone get random freezing?
System is OCCT stable, Memtest Stable, and Windows Vista memory diagnostics stable...3dmark Vantage Stable, etc
QX9650 @ Qx9770 1.225V Vcore.
4GB OC 1600Mhz Platinum EB edition CL7 RAM (2x2GB)
G92 GTS 512MB
X-Fi
Vista x64 with SP1
Enermax 720W PSU
I cannot put my finger on what is causing the problem, CPU has been RMA'd, Graphics card has been RMA'd and the RAM was changed from 4x1GB to 2x2GB
Freezing/Hard Locking is entirely at random, sometimes even when system is idle.
Thanks
John
Nice clocks fatguy. Glad to see you are getting along with your P5E. Thanks for posting up enough cpuz pics to see you are using bios 702. Too Bad you can't squeeze more from your memory. It would probable put you into the high11.xxx range on pi. Still you got some serious good clocks there!!
WZ
Guys
can anyone recommend me please a software fan speed controller for P5E which works under Vista x64 and does not require hard reboot to apply changes?
I really like bios 601 and here of late I have been using 702. I actually scored my fastest pi time with 607 but for some odd reason that bios just did not feel right overall.
When I was running my Q6600 I really liked 502. Although as you can see from fatguy's post 702 is working well with the Q6600. I have tried as many mem sticks as I have different bios setups and I always
go back to my G.skill 6400 HZ (I have 10 Sticks of that). So there are a few different bios' that work well with this board!!
WZ
Thanks Weldzilla, I just popped in an e8400 (Q807) to go with my new G.Skill RAM --G.skill 6400 HZ (mine has a green PCB though). Not sure it's a good as your older stuff -- black PCB?
It's better than the PC 8000 2 x 2G that I had -- right now I'm at 1129 MHz 5-5-5-15 2.0 VDIMM in BIOS
NEW BIOS P5E 0903
ftp://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5E/
I won't bother updating unless it has giant improvements over 702. 702 working great for me :)
I have been looking at getting a P5E to go with a E8400 and my OCZ PC2 9200 with either 2 4850's or 2 4870's in crossfire and i would be watercooling both the cpu and gfx cards and i can get this board and the P5Q Deluxe for about the same money so which one do you think i should get ??? even though it is the older chipset i am swaying more towards P5E , opinions please fellow clockers ;) .
Anyone know if they fixed the ddr2 1066 issue ? I'd really like to get my ram working on full speed.
903 tightens sub-timing up instead of auto 5-5-5-15-11-46-8it is now 5-5-5-15-3-46-3 other than that I see no difference. It is harder to be stable at higher clocks so far but i have only had it a few minutes. Higher being 509fsb and on up. I will work with it over the weekend upcoming and see what there is to see.
Brahmzy private me and give me your email addy and I will send it to you.
WZ
What are your settings? I get bsod everytime I try to run the ram @1066.
I set everything to auto except the voltage which I upped to 2.1v (rating on my corsair ram) and windows just will not boot.
It passed 8 hours of memtest86... so I just don't trust memtest for stress testing.
Well I have every thing on auto but:
FSB: 333
Vcore: 1.175v
PLL Volts: 1.54
RAM Speed: 1066MHz
RAM Timmings: 5-5-5-15 2T
I leave everything else on auto.
Ok I am running FSB 400*9 with 1.2V on VCore... hrm wonder if it's divider issue.
When doing the pencil mod - what do i do......
Once Located Draw a Line Across The Top *ONLY*!
- 3-5 Pass(s) should Do The Trick To Fix Droop. (More Or Less Strokes May Be Needed)
- Replace Panel & Boot Pc.
- Check Cpu-z for Voltage If It Is Still Under Repeat Steps.
- Run A Stress Program And Check Voltage While Under Load You Do Not Want Voltage Going Past What You Have Manually Set In BIOS.
- If To Much Graphite Is Applied Wipe off with finger and try again.
right - once i've done that.......is the voltage suppose to be above bios set at idle but not at load? Or should the voltage not exceed the bios setting AT ALL? just wanted to check before i went ahead and modded my board
Hey everyone, I was just curious of what BIOS is generally considered the best for a P5E3 Deluxe, currently have mine on 1303. Hardware being used is in my sig. Thanks!
Thoes any one tryed the the new 903 bios?
Thanks Brahmzy i will try it then ;)
I had a system reboot while playing COD4. Never had that with 702 bios.
Playing with BIOS P5E0903, Same voltage I was using for 10x350 with BIOS RF0403. Using a Q6700 with 4x1 Patriot PC9600, need to update below.
I have been experimenting with 903 the last few days.
I have come to like it. When changing clocks on the high end you don't have to hit the reset twice to reboot. This is quite common when you get above
500fsb. that has been pretty much cured now. It has just a little more punch at 500fsb then with the older bios' not much but it's there:up:
I plan on moving to the E8600 before too long and it is nice to know that I have a bios that is ready for it and is worht having.
Here is some validation and a couple screens of some testing.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0GTX/valid.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...GTX/05test.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...GTX/o6test.jpg
As with all other bios updates the one constant is the way this board just loves the G.Skill 6400HZ!!
Glad to see you got it loaded up Brahmzy and that you too are happy with it.
WZ
Well I am happy to report the 0903 Bios has fixed my issue's with the divider, and now my ram runs fine at 1066 =]
The 0903 bios for the p5e mb just dissapear from asus download page :\
BIOS 0903 is still listed here: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5E/
I got the 0903 bios for the P5E but in EZflash 2 the bios itīs not recognized , what is the best way to update the bios since i cannot update from asus update utility because i got vista 64bits .
Cheers
I allways flash with the bios flash feature.
You must use a pendrive formated in FAT32, put the bios file you want to flash in it, reboot and enter the bios.
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6587/dsc00392tx9.jpg
Enter the tools tab
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/2306/dsc00389nv4.jpg
Use ASUS EZ Flash 2, than chose the bios you want to flash.

First Prime run on a E8500 with BIOS 0903, air temp in the room was 29C at the time the screen shot was taken so Ive got a little more play room.
(Correction) TjMax should have been set to 100c in CoreTemp for the E8500 per latest info from Intel, so my temps are to low by 5c in the screen shot.
I know some people don't like the risk but its simple and safe to do.
I tried my self and the results are great :)
I flashed my P5E with 0407 Rampage Formula bios and its a lot more stable and has more bios options ;)
In terms of voltage:
P5E 0903
Bios voltage - 1.3500v
Idle voltage - 1.3200v
Full voltage - 1.2880v
RF 0407
Bios voltage - 1.3375v
Idle voltage - 1.3200v
Full voltage - 1.3200v
You can see, the difference between the bios and the real one are minimal and the difference between idle and full are completely gone!! :D
PS:Results with LoadLine Calibration ON
With the RF BIOS does the max vcore go up from 1.7v?
The Asus P5E 0903 BIOS doesn't work well for my configuration. I can only run stock speeds and even that is not completely stable; even with a fresh load of Windows XP.
I'm switching over to the 0407 Rampage Formula BIOS tonight and see if that will solve the issues being experienced.
Rofl
LOL Gee, thanks. Thought you might have had something other than software to check the voltages.
Just simple software ;)
If you want to give it a try, you can follow the guide here :)

Use Deluxe BIOS is by far the best for P5E.

Anyone managed to get a Q9450 STABLE passing 435x8 on P5E ?
I managed 440x8, but needed a lot air, I guess it couldn't be normal. After I closed the case, it turns out unstable.

If i flash to the RF BIOS is there ANY side effects? Also is it then possible to re-flash to the proper P5E BIOS agian?
I heard that with the RF BIOS it stuffs up your temp sensor.
Y is it good not to have vdroop?
