I like that kaze master on the 900. looks sweet!
Thanks...I'm getting some good ideas looking through the photos on this forum too-
Nice case Buddy, whats the name of that fan controller you have up front?
It's the Scythe "KAZE MASTER" 5.25" Bay Fan Controller...
sweet looks like I might get one too, did you have to change the original fans that came with the 900 to be able to hook them to the fan controller? and can you also have them connected to the MB?
hummm 'PWM'? and what is Yate Loon's?
'PWM' Function=The fans' speed is controlled automatically by the PWM function from the motherboard (which adjusts the fan speed for you)...also, a 'PWM' 'Function-Ready' motherboard is required.

Hi all,
Just ordered my EVGA 780I mobo, 1000W Antec PSU, 4GB OCZ memory DDrR2 800, and finishing my painting this week for my build..
Just wanted to get some opinions on a "CPU heatsink/cooler" Air not liquid..?? The big 120?, Zulman, Not sure what to get... pros cons? Thanks alot all. this board is great..
I've used a Tuniq Tower 120 in my 900, and it did quite well, but for the money it's hard to beat the Arctic Cooler Freezer Pro 7. I ordered one for a client this weekend from newegg and it was less than $20 now. It does as good or a couple degrees better on my E8400 than the Tuniq did, and it's lighter and puts much less stress on your motherboard. It's not a real flashy unit like some of the Zalman coolers, but I like it a lot.

Thermaltake SpinQ Performance Series...
Well I finally figured out the stupid fan problem, was just a setting on the smart fan options in the BIOS...thank god.
But I do have a general question for all 900 owners. If you guys are using the front headphone jack are you getting a TON of system noise. My speakers are nice and quite if plugged into the back of the case, but when i plug in either my speakers or my headphone into the front stereo jack I can pretty much hear my CPU saying "0001110101110110110101101100110!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !". Anyone else having this problem or is it just the way i have the headphone wire run inside the case?
Did you make sure you connected the correct audio cables? There are the AC'97 ones and the HD audio ones. Just checking.
ON ANOTHER NOTE!! I got my Antec 900 Case in the other day and decided since I saw all kinds of sweet stuff going down on this site for mods and cable hiding I would do some myself. So far I have painted the inside black and disassembled the case so I can figure out a good way to route the cables.
Does anyone have any suggestions for routing of the IO and power/reset button panel cables? I think I might just tuck them in the corner but I have the resources to make some nice holes or something. And has anyone been having issues with the back panel bulging due to cables being tucked back there? Solutions? Let me know :D

I finished my first ever case mod last week by drilling(step drill) holes for my Antec 900. It was a real pain and it takes some skill to do things the right way. All of the mods I have seen in this thread are great. Could anyone tell me what extension wires I need for my box to look even better? I need one for the white/blue case wire that starts at the top and says Pwr grd etc on it and an extension for the small power wire that goes from the power supply to the top left of the motherboard.

longer i want i cut a wire of R45/Lan cable the length needed & there's 8 cable inside now all you need to do if you have a solder iron & swrink tubing you can replace all separate cable into one clean look cable hope it help

Not as good as the NewEgg sale was, but if you live near a Microcenter store you can pick the 'In-store Pickup' option for shipping and get it a lot faster than UPS would deliver it. Saves on the shipping charges, too.
Hi all,
ok so I would like to hear your top 3 CPU Fans?
Intell 775, Antec 900, EVGA 780i MOBO.. Just your opinons on my top 3 choices? Hoping to buy this friday, Thanks alot..
Hey guys , awhile back I was talking about converting my Antec 900 into a BTX. So yesterday I took the plunged. Here is how far I got:
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/6248/98360381ec0.jpg
I am busy cutting the mobo tray now so I expect the fabrication to be completed tomorrow.I have decided to call the mod Project Antec 009 for obvious reasons. Enjoy
Hey everyone I am going to mod my comp before X-mas and have a few simple questions. (Any tips for someone who is starting would be great)
1. Will I need any wire extenders and if so can someone give me link to the Egg or another site with some that I will need.
2.Also what do you think about putting 4 of these http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-xtrem...000-black.html in with this fan controller http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999171.
3. My CPU fan is the Zalman CNPS 9700 (glows green) so I am thinking about getting 2 12'' cold cathodes to light my case green while my fans are blue. Will the cathodes be to over powering?
3. Should I flip my PSU upside down? Since it has a fan that blows up in my case.
4. Any pointers before I go hacking into my computer would be great. :)
By Flipping you Psu upside down you may get your cable longer & maybe reach your devs since the main pack of cable will be on the back side of your tower & you will get cooler psu but you need to do a blow hole on the bottom of your case
i think you will achive great air flow with those Aerocool Xtreme Turbine 2000
since theys can do Airflow: 89.39 CFM but as far what is the DB it will result
im not shure you like the noise but with the fan controller im shure you can tune those fans with a decent air flow & low DB
Dunno if Cathod drain that mutch amps & voltage you might check the specs
Keep on Modding !!!!
BTX hey !!!
Well i seen your dremel work man you have somes imagination & skill i cant wait for the next pics & im not talking about the final mod yet way da go !
Q: Any Slim Blue-Ray Reader Yet ?? Also Q: is there a way to turn a Digital frame Picture into a vga lcd screen ?
Keep On Modding !!!!!!!!
Sorry guys due to the nature of the mod I didnt take as much pictures as I would have liked but here is the final results , I still need to spray the whole case black but as far as I am concerned the fabrication is done. Enjoy.

as far as I know this is the Worlds first BTX Antec 900 :>
I am in a pickle here. I am getting 4 new fans that glow blue and my CPU fan glows green. Should I get a paid of 12'' Cold Cathodes for extra look to it? The choices are Blue, Red, or like UV purple. Which of these would look the best if any at all?
Hey guys , I just finished my Antec 009 mod here is the final product

Great Work Doner90 the fnial product look neat & Genuine just a quick question to create your BTX mod did you salvage a back plane panel from another BTX case ?
Done:

I still need to do some more cable management and to install the Watercooling. I will be doing that all next year.
By BTX I meant inverted ATX. note the pic.
Nice work man
DoNER90 - FYI, the link in your sig is broken. Nice work on the mobo flip.
DoNER90,
Nice job.

Thanks, I tried to stay true to the Antec/XFX theme.
@seismicshift
i think it would look even better if your XTC was painted black... but still it looks awesome:up:
@seismicshift
very beautiful indeed.
I am going to be drilling some holes soon so what kind of grommets should I get to fill the holes so they don't kill my wires?
Ones that fit the holes you drill are usually the best kind :D
But seriously, if you are making round holes you can find rubber grommets at McMaster-Carr. Just type 'Rubber Grommet' in the search field.
If you want to make anything other than just round holes, you can get edge molding from lots of case mod suppliers like Performance PC's or Frozen CPU.
Most of the time, you really don't have to worry about it all that much if you take the time to file the edges smooth after you cut/drill the holes. Lots of people use electrical tape folded over the edges or small diameter vacuum hose from an auto parts store that has been slit down one side with a razor blade.
Hello all
My picture is ghetto at best lol, took it with a cell phone, anyways that was just to show you i am ready to begin the install..
I do want to ask you a few things before I start. Thanks...
Items I have to install
Mobo: EVGA 780i SLI
Cpu: Intel E8400
Memory: Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 4GB (2GBx2)
Video Cards: EVGA 7600 GTS x2
PSU: Antec 1000W
Case: Antec 900
HDD: Seagate SATA 500GB (Going to Setup in RAID 0)
DVDR: Slim Line, Slot Load Panasonic UJ-85 (i think thats the model), It has the SATA connector
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek HDT-S1238 With Retention Clip /bracket
Ok, so my questions are,
If I am going to only use the 3.5" Bays Since I have the slot load dvd-rw being mounted on the bottom, Is there a way I can still use the "Fan" from the 5.25" bay?
Basically i dont see the need of adding the whole 5.25" bay to the case if I am not going to use it, however I do want to use ALL the fans I can. and i for sure want the THREE front fans to be there so it looks awsome too.
Well i hope I explained that simply enough., Thanks all this site is the best for sure.. Take Care:up:
Hello everyne...
I recently purchased an Antec 900 after doing some research. I spent a lot of time on this forum reading all the posts so I could learn what basic mods to try and do plus how I could configure the case. Previosuly I had a Dell Inspiron 531 that was running too hot with an BFG 8800 GT OC card and I decided to swap out the case.
I was able to score a 900 case from NewEgg for $59 with free shipping during their Black Friday weekend. Great deal!
I have worked with PC's before but never done any mods or anything. In my case I did not do too much but thought it came out pretty good.
First - I decided to spray paint the metal in the case. I ended up using a good engine spray paint in the Ford Dark Blue color. To prepare the case I stripped it down, tapes up the black sections, did some sanding\wetsanding and then cleaned with a tack cloth. I then hit it with a few coats of Etch Primer, let it dry then did a bunch of light coats with the paint. The dark blue looks pretty nice with the black color and in the pictures it looks a bit brigher with the flash and the real color is a very dark, almost purple, looking blue. This was my first paint job but I took my time and it is very clean looking.

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...l/IMG_1235.jpg
http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...l/IMG_1236.jpg
Originally I thought I might need to Dremel the case for some basic cable management. I ended up with a "new" model Antec 900 that had some pre-drilled motherboard holes. They worked fine for me but I probably could stand for some cutting to get even better cable routing.
I put the whole thing back together and install two additional Yate Loon(spelling?) fans I got for pretty cheap. With all the fans and open space the thing runs VERY cool now. I also like the look of the color against the black.

Just this week I purchased a ZeroTherm VGA fan for the 8800 GT card. It is not pictured but I installed using all the new space I have below the card. It eats up a lot of slots but not with that plus the fans my card runs in the high 30's C when it used to hit the high 60's C.
Anyway...nothing to special here but I wanted to post some pics and thank everyone for the great thread that inspired me to get this case and do some work on it. I am much happier leaving the nice looking yet cramped Dell case behind! :)
How do I get the front fans off? I have some new ones I need to put in but can not figure out how to get the old ones off.
Wow, nevermind I feel dumb did not see the black tabs that connect to the cage.
Hi guys! This is my first post :)
I've find out this site few days ago but I've think this forum is very interesting, so...congratulations!
I've an Antec 900 from 2 years but recently I've decided to mod it.

sorry guys ive just dumped my 900 for a CM HAF 932
i'm sure alot of you can understand its too small for a 3x120 radiator. with the HAF 932 i can put the radiator inside with no modding at all. would've gone with the 1200 but i didn't like the look of the top. i wish they would have kept it the same as the 900 top. it is so much nicer when installing hard drives.
Only an observation, knissel, but working from the inside of the Case, seems a little awkward and restrictive, especially when using 'corded' power tools, and you have free and easy access to the other side of the panel.
In addition, your Case wouldn't fill up with quite so many 'iron filings' from the Dremmel cutting.
More importantly, I would hate to see you appear on YouTube with only one eye !
If you have ever had a ' cut-off ' wheel, shatter, at speed, you will know exactly what I'm getting at.
I'm just hoping no beginners follow your ' Dremmel Skillz ' to the letter, and also omit eye protection.
(Hope you don't mind me pointing it out, if you've already thought of it).
Cheers
Fredthered :)
No I really thank you for your advice. I did want to cut from the outside because I wound up having to clean all the metal shavings out later... That was really the first time I had ever used a dremel. Since I'm so hardcore and such a bad ass thug I of course don't need protective goggles because my eyes are made of steel.
@J.HA
I really like what you did with the case. My friend has a antec 1200 and I really liked the black inside. Also what did you use to cover power cord it looks like a black piece of plastic?
Here some pics of my Antec 900.
http://flickr.com/photos/87397526@N0...7611863797496/
Here are some pics of my Antec modded pretty basic.
Stuff I did was:
- New fans
- Painting inside black
- Neon inside (took them out already though)
- 'Cable management' (still have to fix this when I do reverse HDD mod :) )
- And a few more little tweaks
Gonna do:
- Slim MOD
- Reverse MOD
- Neon purple/blue
- Cable management
- The text 'hitman-47' removed and replaced with painted text
- Remove the red from my cpu fan

I kinda fail at cable management though :P
the thing covering the 24 pin power
It's the angle shot of the photo. The plastic thingy that seems to cover the 24pin connector is actually the removable fan bracket of the hard drive cages.
ohhh i see now... the motherboard 's end and the tray / back is painted black but i thought it was some type of cord shied...
What do people use to mount a 240mm radiator below the 200mm fan?
I bought a Nine Hundred just before christmas and I'm planning to customize it this week.
So far from my planning stage, I've only got a couple of tips to contribute...
1) Place black window screen mesh (bug screen) behind the front slots - in front of the intake fans - to help reduce dust. The material is very cheap and you can get it in fiberglass or aluminum.
2) Look in the plumbing section for some nice round rubber flanges. I found some which are perfect for inserting into cable routing holes. You don't want to leave bare metal around the rim of the hole, because it can easily cut into your cables and cause a short.
Steve
yawn
Hey whats up guys, this is my first post and me signing up not to long ago. 2-3 Months ago I stumbled across this thread and was inspired by what you guys have done to your Antec 900 cases. So I purchased one and getting things ready for some modding.
Here is my first attempt of cutting holes with a Hole Saw and some short of drill bit (forgot name). It looks like a cone shape with a drill formation.
Anyways here are a few pics I took.

Now for some rubber grommets, but if anyone knows how to make one, by any chance you can tell me how.
As you can see, i've got my paint and other things ready to paint this case flat black. I'm getting my motherboard (EVGA 780i) pretty soon. I actually placed an
order already. Im going to replace all Antec stock fans with green LED's and much more.
Little update on my 900, I've added a 1TB Samsung HD and a 150GB WD VelociRaptor, oh yeah and a Zalman GPU cooler

Looking good !!!!!
Hello all- I've been watching this thread for a few weeks now, and have finally completed my build.
I own two 900s now. The first was built in 2004 and contains the following:
Motherboard: Abit NF7-S v.2.0 (Perhaps the single greatest Socket A Motherboard ever produced)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Overclocked to 2.2GHz (3200+ specs)
Memory: 2GB G. Skill PC3200 running at 203MHz (406MHz Dual Channel)
GPU: PNY GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP 8X (Great card for it's time, but seriously showing its age now)
HDD: Western Digital HDDs throughout: 2x 80GB IDE for Boot and backup drives, 1x 200GB SATA for Storage and Page File and 1x SATA 500GB for games and applications
Optical: 2x Lite-On 20X DVDRW Drives
Cooler: Thermaltake Volcano 9
PSU: Thermaltake Purepower 420W
I was long overdue to move up to a modern rig ;).
Thanks to the amazing work I've seen in this thread, I was able to carefully plan my own mod of the case using all the great ideas I found here. Thanks to all who posted their hard work!
My mods are as follows:
Painted entire grey chassis flat black
Reversed HDD mod
Drilled motherboard tray for cable routing
Modified Sunbeam 6 Channel Rheobus to glow green instead of blue
Replaced stock Tricool blue fans with green ones
Profit!
I'm very happy with the results. I took a lot of pictures along the way, which I'll share in a (soon) future post. I need to resize my photos and load them onto my web server.
So again, thanks to everyone for sharing their work. Here's a couple preview shots...
Has anyone seen that they updated the Nine Hundred. I didnt know that. Here is a link to the newer one looks a lot like the 1200 though

They've finished the inside of the new version in Black, very nice.
Is there a guide to do reverse HDD mod?
Not really sure if it's an update. Seems like a totally new case.Quote:

Well, I'm finally done. Here's a shot of the complete machine.
If you want to see more photos and details of the process, you can check my website here.
Once again, thanks to all who posted their work.
[EDIT]
I figured I'd post the money shots here. There's more on my site if interested.
look like pure gaming pc :)
Thanks, I put a lot of time and effort into it. I'm really happy with it, and the system performance as well. Although unfortunately due to some game/OS incompatibility, I had to remove the X-Fi card. The onboard sound, however, is excellent as well and doesn't cause any problems.
I might wind up doing a slightly less ambitious cleanup of my old 900 as well.
