I now run my pair or memory in black ram slot.
mines just the opposit i run in the blue slot
He is full crap..all I see is we this and we that...no data or anything to back up his crap
The Badaxe2 is what it is...a good stable and easy to setup board for the most part....and I am happy to say the maintenance mode is excellent
Glad to see your are back posting...Quote:
As nealh pointed out (thank you) I do have a life and had to make a choice between continuing to participate here and participating in other activities such as earning a living.
I personally have nothing but gratitude for your efforts
BTW Supertim0r thanks for all your input as well
TY neal.....exactly the point I was trying to make. :)
will an XFX 7950 GT fit on the BX2 or will it hit the northbridge heatsink. the XFX version has the big passive heatpipe cooler on it. another thing i havent put my system together yet still waiting on the video card, i have the board(BX2 of couse), ram(Team Group), cpu(e6600), power supply(Enermax Infiniti 720w), case(Themaltake armor), hard drives(raptors) ect... but i was wondering when i first build should i go ahead and use the black ram slots rather then the blue ones? ive heard the blue ones fry ur ram, or is that only if you over volt it? ive got some ddr2 800 Team Xtreem 4-4-4-10 and i plan to run my cpu, ram and everything at stock speeds no overclocking:rolleyes:
EDIT: i have another question (sorry for all the questions guys). but what do you think would be better the XFX 7950 GT i asked about (that is if it will fit) or a eVGA 8600 GTS. i dont want to get a 8800 yet, because when i do get one i want one with more memory then the 320 version, and plus i want to wait and see what other new things are going to come out. i just want a good card for now. i play lots of CS:S and BF2 and 2142 type games.
ok guys i tried to overclock the e6750 and it will not o'c. cpu-z will not read an overclock on the processor even though i adjusted all of it in the bios. Time to go back to a e6600 or so
What ratio are you running? Is the system otherwise stable?
I use OCZ exclusively. For better or worse, I've NEVER lost a stick.
Thanks again.
BTW, I never did figure out who Rockmore's "we/our" are? Does anyone know?
Maybe its the royal "we" ;)
gtj, I'm running 1:1 , 266/533
the system is stable, the only problem I have noticed recently is that firefox crashes all the time, it never happened before. Of course, I uninstalled completely, reinstalled, no plugins etc..and it still crashes, so I'm wondering if it's because of the overclocking.
ok, so I moved down from 3.2 from 3.4 to see how my temperatures are.
here is a screenshot from Everest
are the temps ok? I just reapplied some AS5 to see if it helps.
at full load, they go up 65-66 degrees.
Hi, I have 2 exact pc built of the following, got the same problem on the 2 PC
PC Power And COoling Silencer 750w
Q6600 @ 2.4 stock
2x2gb OCZ DDR800 5-4-4-15 2.1v sticks
Intel Badaxe 2 Lastest Bios (2777)
EVGA 8800 Ultra
Onboard sound
2x Seagate 500gb Sata hard drives
1x Raptor 74gb
1x Sata DVD Reader
Windows XP 32bit
Ok i installed XP, everything when fine, bios updated, chipsed driver updated, matrix controller, windows xp updates, latest Forceware Drivers (162.18)
gave the pc to the customer, then he calls me saying the video card was not recognised. I come to see that, reinstall nvidia drivers, it works fine.
I reboot, and its like the drivers were uninstalled again. I check in device manager and i got:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Location says: PCI Slot 11 (PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0)
In bios, the PCI-Express is set to : PCI-Express (PEG) as default display mode.
I can do orthos Blend rock solid for hours. Its just the damn video card having a IRQ conflict or something like that...
Things Ive Tried:
Plugging the Molex connector for Crossfire PCI-E support on the motherboard
Using the 2 other PCiE Power connector from power supply
Reinstalling drivers the clean way with driver cleaner pro and safe mode
Setting PCI xpress mode to Auto, PCI mode and Pci-Express PEG mode
Setting ram to ultra loose timings
Bios Update
CHipset driver update
Nvidia Beta Drivers
Disabling/renabling device in device manager
I really dont know what else i could try. Can someone have an idea?
This is totally off-topic and irrelevant but I had to point it out - the whole argument about Rockmore's avatar is funny, but not near as funny as his lame explanation. I have seen that avatar on several different torrent sites for years. He didn't create :banana::banana::banana:. Rockmore sounds like nothing more than an Asus and/or AMD fanboy not willing to accept that Intel is finally putting out some great boards. :yepp:
I just put e6850 into machine today. Would not even POST with 2770 and 2674. Will boot up with 2777 bios but NO OC at all. You can change in Bios, CPU-Z 1.4.5 show 3.0 ghz w/o any OC. Maintenance mode not available anymore on either board after the bios update.
Making some changes now keeps it from POST.
Trying to reset bios.
Was running e6420 @ 3.2 (400x8) Othos stable 8+ hours.
Other was e4300 @ 3.15 (350x9) Othos stable 8+ hours.
Both on Zalman 9700's.
I have DFI 965 dark board with E4300 @ 3.5 Othos stable 8+ hours.
I need the stability of the XBX2 with the OC of 3.5+.
Any ideas?
I may purchase e6700, but e6850 was $40 cheaper.
Boards have been rock stable otherwise.
OK....probably missed this in the thousands of posts, and if I did, sorry for repeating this question.
This board, the D975XBX2, and the workstation version of the same board, the S975XBX2, seem to be exactly the same sans the fancy MOSFET heatsinks and one fan header that the "D", or desktop, version has that the "S", or workstation/server version doesn't have.
The question is......has anyone successfully run the Xeon X3210 processor on the BX2? I'd gladly sacrifice 260MHz in initial processor speed.....the difference between the X3210 (2.14GHz) and the Q6600 (2.4GHz), for a savings of $30-$40. And since the Xeon is compatible with the "S" version of the board, and since both boards use the same BIOS updates and drivers, I'd think the Xeon would run without issues on our desktop "D" BX2 boards.
So in other words this board does not support the E6x50 processors. That is a real shame considering it is no doubt an easy BIOS fix to implement since other 975 chipset boards can do it. Looks like I'll be getting a new board when the 45nm chips come out and holding off on the E6x50 series. Pretty lame of Intel imo and I will remember that when I buy my new board.
I have honestly not searched around for this, but I hope you don't mind me asking.
I plan to OC using the 1:1 divider and look for low timings etc on my ram.
What strap do I use? the default one or the 800MHz strap? which gives better performance? I suppose I cannot get as high clocks on the lower straps but if it gives better performance that's ok.
What strap would you say is best?
xeon will work on Desktop badaxe 2 but it is not "officially" supported, Wich means that if you have problem with your board and call intel customer service and say:
I HAVE A XEON,
a red light will flash in the customer support room and a robot will automaticly answer: Im sorry, unfortunatly the processor solution you have for your motherboard is not currently supported. No support is available for the system solution you have.
Altought, if you say:
I HAVE A 6600!
you will have support.
As for the difference between badaxe Server board and Desktop board, i think there is alot of overclocking option missing in the bios, and the pcb is greeeen
After all this i am quite confused. I wonna buy E6850 but will it work on my Bad Axe 2? I have the latest bios and my board rev. is 507?
I just tried this on two boards 2 days ago. Only Bios of the 3 I tried, that worked (at all) was the latest.
DO NOT OVERCLOCK! If you do, you will spend hours trying to get back to a stable state. Both boards showed OC in bios, but not once booted into XP.
Once OC was tried, it would not let the board back into maintenance mode and I had a lot of trouble getting unstuck. Bootable floppy bios method and .bio method didn't work at all.
It seemed to run fine at stock speed but didn't spend much time there as I wanted 3.5+ OC on air and stable. I returned the chip.
I am thinking about q6600 or e6600. e6600's are still too much money to be 'discontinued'.
Well, I finall got my Q6600 installed. I'm running at 3.0ghz. I've done a bit of priming so it seems stable. I'll do the full on 24 hr test soon. I want to see if I can get the processor speed higher first. One thing that concerns me is my temperature readings. IDU actually shows my temperatures dropping when I fire up Prime 95 (25.4). I wonder if this has to do with the fact that I swapped out a Pentium D without reformatting. Strange.
Oh, by the way, do y'all enable HPET? I've enable it for the time being.
use the last coretemp to monitor your cpu temp ;)
LMAO! I don't know but I kept looking over my shoulder while reading his posts, kept feeling like "they" were going to sneak out of the shadows and get me. LOL. "They" don't have alot of respect I can tell you that. I never read your full XBX2 webpage but the calculator is invaluable, good work. If you can't maintain it, put "with info as of post #xxxx in the Testing / comparing : Intel D975XBX2 / Asus P5B DX ***56K WARNING*** thread (with link)" that way people know where to go for newer stuff, case closed, you have done enough. Good work can't believe he would slam someone his has given so much time to the thread...Quote:

Anyway I didn't post to say that. My thoughts and experience I thought I would update though.
-Intel tech support is kind of sketchy.
-I do believe this board can kill RAM no particular slot, unfortuanetly not how or where limits are or how to avoid.
-Board is entering it's 6 month of 24/7 100% CPU usage on a quad core at 3.66Ghz. I don't know how much more stable it gets...huge power load, huge heat, well beyond rated specs, just solid, not awe inspring necessarily but solid.
-If the board supports 1333FSB or 45nm is moot point for me, it said nothing about that in the specs when I bought, why would I hold Intel to it, it would just be gravy if they did...
-I need to disclose that I'm over 30, that apparently is important. ROFL.
Cheers, hope everyone elses board is still going strong...
