I know. Newegg is paying for shipping and upgraded my return ship back to next day. Asus ont he other hand has an old p5w-dh that I RMA a few weeks ago and they still have no update on it. All in all the Asus RMA will probably take over 30 days. Would be convenient if I had that p5w now. :shakes:

Newegg is excellent as far as RMA’s are concerned.
The only problem is that Newegg no longer has the Maximus Formula SE.
I just sent a Maximus Formula SE back to Newegg for RMA last week. Last night I received an email from them saying that this motherboard has been discontinued and I would receive a refund not replacement.
As far as the non-SE Maximus Formula is concerned, that’s no longer showing up at Newegg either.
I know that Asus is advertising the Maximus Formula SE as being “Limited Quantity”, but I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the X48 refresh.
hmmm. I'm OK with that. I guess if that happens I'll conside this a test drive. I'd get it again.
BTW, I have a non "se".
I just contacted newegg. They said if they do not have any in stock they will get another from the manufacturer or offer me comperable motherboards. :banana::banana::banana::banana:!!! it looks like I won't be getting another maximus.

You will not get any airflow into that small hole. It is just like trying to blow into a straw with one end covered. No airflow, just a whistling noise as air movement occurs only in the few millimeters near the end. Another way to think about it, put a fan in a hot room with the door and windows closed, you'll get air movement, but no cooling effect, you need an intake and exhaust port to get air flow.
As it stands, remove the rubber caps (rubber doesn't conduct heat well) and cover the holes with a small piece of aluminum foil (aluminum conducts heat, or so I've heard :) ).
I had to install an old Ghost backup of XP 32 bit and ran Asusupdate, with BIOS step back enable, also you don't have to download the files through asus update to update the BIOS. Download the files in advance and use the file update instead, I think people are running in to problems more when they use a download through the updater and not off the original FTP or Web site.

Running bios 802
425x8 stap set to 400 ...stable
450x8 strap set to 333 ...stable
400x9 strap set to 400 ...stable
450x8 strap set to 400 it fails everytime, usally in the first 15 mins OCCt or Prime
I used to run this until I flashed to 902, after I flashed back to 802 my settings are still unstable.
I'm thinking it might have to do with transaction booster and clock twister
Twister is set to Strong
Booster is set to Auto

Yes I know how dual channel works in this motherboard. However what I do I can't get the sticks to work in A1 and A2 (blue and white slots near cpu socket). I am stuck to B1 and B2 the farther blue and white slots. But that ends up as a single channel platform. I am using 903 bios now but I upgraded it from 401 and the same problem was there with 401 also.
My power supply has 24+4 pins and a 4-8 pin converter. But I seem to have lost the converter so I put on 24+4 pins. Could be the cause of this strange behavior. When I first test this board I used a different psu with 24+8 pins and there wasn't a problem like this. I think it's worth a try. What do you think? Is having a 4 pin instead of 8 pins can be harmful for the system?

What the heck is going on with Asus Probe and Vista x64?? It says all my volts are insane and sometimes my SB temp jumps up to 96C and sets an alarm off after I dismiss the voltage alarms.
Everything in my BIOS is set to AUTO voltage wise, except VCORE/LL Calibration and VDIMM.
If you're using the E6750, you dont need 40 strap to get 5:6. You can get 5:6 in Auto strap or 333 maunal (under v0903, manual strap under 901/902).
This can work and I did something like this in the past for another project. This is liek a natural convection stove pipe method. If the pipes to the barbs in and out are copper, one end will heat, creating high preasure, and if the other end is outside the case (near cool floor or hanging outside cold window) the cold air will create low preasure and in turn makes a natural convection of cold air moving in to NB barbs and sucked out hot end (area heated by NB chipset). You can also try just a funneled breather into one barb, in-line w/ case intake fan, and out-take pipe towards rear fan.
This actually can work and is better with a pump/fan as I did this for my Chevy 454 with a smog pump to pump air through block since I did not need smog unit. Th cooled air from outside cooled through ported heads.
Just something to play round with and try. As for dust, not that hard to check up on it and blow out with compressed air can.
Did you ever try the old BIOS recovery from ASUS CD? I'm just curious if anybody used this methed yet or if it is even available for these new mobos.
Now we have no more NEW Maximus SE's and all that's left is open box. Prepare yourselve's for waves of BS! I still think this board has alot of potential, I think it was built for experimentation which we all are doing in a fine manner here. Hell, 1800MHz on the FSB is awesome! Ifeel used though, but oh well, I knew it was limited edition, that is limited production. This will be the last best DDR2 Motherboard around and I hope ASUS continues to support it's base of loyal customers. Any company that sticks with bleeding edge only is on the dying edge IMHO.

You misunderstood me. I am not trying to put the sticks in different colored slots. When I put one of the sticks in the A1 or A2 slots and the other one to the same colored B1 or B2, I can't get the system to post correctly. It hangs on the det dram error. The only choice for me is to put the sticks in B1 and B2 in order for the board to post with two sticks and that ends up as a single channel mode.

400x9? I had the QX6700 and it was just barely OK to 490x8. 4GHz was a snap as 400x10 for that one bu I wanted higher FSB. Although my P5WDG2 then was cool with multi of 4:5 for DDR1125 as 4.1 as 450x9 in 4;5 devider. I dont have it anymore but wonder if it would do a tad better on the x38 li my Q6600 that was bearely able to get to the same 480x on the 975X.
I knwo you guys dot really like 11 and high FSB, but can you try it on a 1:1 to see how much FSB it can get w/ a 1.7v + PLL and FSBT of 1.5v? I am curious if they can go voer 500FSB like most of mine did so far. My only that didnt stable out at 500 was my older E6600 (495x was it on 975x). Oh ya, this , or my mobo is good t0 540x (2160FSB) with the right CPU (E6300). So it is clear, that it is the quads holing us back on FSB. My E6750 is sable onlt so far to 515x.
I'm having a strange problem. When I leave my PC turned off for a bit and then try to start it up, the on/off switch on the front of the case is non-responsive. I have to hit the CLR CMOS switch several times, after each time the LCD poster gets to VGA BIOS and then the system stops. Eventually I can get the video to come up again, go into the bios, restore my settings and everything is back to normal. This has only happened twice so I wouldn't call it a pattern just yet, but it's happened the past two times that I've shut the computer down overnight. I don't know whether to attribute it to BIOS 903 or not. Would love any ideas.
I experienced the same in both 901 & 903. I rarely turn off my PC completely. Usually S3 or S4. But I got the same issue during regular restarts for OC profile test or installing apps requiring restart. It has happend twice for me too so far. I was able to reload from my CMOS profile saves.
