Ive got a 550 incomming to. But i cant decide on the motherboard. I have a Gigabyte 790X-UD4 atm but im thinking of going am3 with a asus 785G something motherboard. Or what motherboard should i go for to have the best chance to unlock it to a quad?
Gigabyte !
Gigabyte seems to be the best unlocker so far.
ASUS is ok, and MSI seems to be struggling with releasing a good BIOS.
If you want a cheap as possible board go for the new AM3(DDR3) 770+SB710 motherboards from Gigabyte or MSI.
Snowman89: FWIW man, The GBT 790XT-UD4P (DDR3 board) unlocked my 720BE and the 550BE, and clocks the snot out of both of them!!
I'm sure you have a bad taste in your mouth conserning GBT...
I actually swore off of them after the DS5 and S2H boards, and I've seen alot of people having the same problems using the UD4's that I had with those earlier boards....
I personally think you'd be really happy with a UD4P, it's a whole new animal and it seems like GBT learned from their earlier mistakes!
If your really against going the Gigabyte route again, most folks have had good luck with the BioStar boards for unlocking...
Yeah the Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P and MA790XT-UD4P are awesome boards
BOO !!
I just ordered myself a x2 550 and a Asus M4A78!
If only i had checked this place first :p i could have put another couple of pounds on and bought one of those gigabyte boards, I didn't think anything about unlocking cores when i was browsing boards lol

My 4Ghz overclock, I've successfully ran 20 tests on IBT and it passed and have run 3dmark06 without any BSOD's, crashing or any errors.

What my desktop with CPU-Z, 3dmark06 and Core Temp. Using a Noctua here, and my load temps were just 32C max on IBT, very surprised because when I ran IBT on my Q9650, it went over 90C.
Ive got a 0924DPMW inc now. Didnt find anything about it on the internet so i hope it does good :)
My 0925APMW failed@4 core. Tho, had to test a little more...
But wanted to ask, is there any tool to change memtimings in win, like MemTest?
And, what do You recommend for stability testing? Prime, Orthos, OCCT, some other?
Also, what soft to use for CPU temp measuring? I get different strange results with coretemp, hwmonitor etc. And ET6 doesn't seem to refresh temp. It's not possible, that temp doesn't change under load. I use HR-01 Plus with 60CMF 120mm fan...
You mean Memset?

ASharp, sry typo. Yes I meant MemSet. But that 4.0 didn't work
UD4 were troubled boards for even stock cpu's .. Thats why the UD4P replaces it;)
I know because ive exchanged some UD4 for friends in the beginning of unlocking that thought the UD4 was the same as UD4P
,,,,,,,,,Its not.
UD4P is very stable and has great voltage options for overclocking and stability. Plus a very stable Unlocking Bios ATM.

I see that someone has theirs listed as a tri core. I didn't know you can unlock just one core and run it as a tri core. Can someone tell me how this is done?
