Mine has jumped from 1.1250v to 1.2375v. My BIOS has been setting 1.235v as the VID all along.

Q9450's will top out at 3.8ghz and Q9550's at ~4.0ghz due to their ~475mhz FSB walls.Quote:

But how much volts do those Q9550 and QX9650 guy's need to get to those 4000+ MHz speeds ? 1,45v and higher ? witch would increase your power draw.
I had my Q6600 running at 3200 MHz 1.25v when i went to 3500 MHz i needed as much as 1.5v to get there increasing my power draw by 70-80 Watt on full load. And that only for 300 MHz. I'm running 3000 now on 1.168v. Its fine with me.
I canceled my X3350. I ordered it 2 months ago still not on stock and there might be a price drop of the Q9550 in Q3. So i'll wait for that or buy a AMD Denep core 45nm Quad.
They seem to be getting Q9550's to 4ghz on about the same volts as the Q9450 gets to 3.8ghz (1.37-1.4v under load). VCore isn't really a problem with these chips, it's the VTT and MCH volts since they hit their walls at ~475mhz.
And yip the Q9550 will drop to the same price as the Q9450 is now in Q3. Looks like the Q9450 might go EOL as it's not listed to drop in price.

Hey, great thread so far.
I am having great difficulty passing 3.5GHz on my P5E(bio 0702) with my Q9450. I have applied crazy voltages and low memory speeds/loose timings. Specs are in the sig. Temps are low.
3.5GHz seems stable with 1067Mhz 5-5-5-15 memory. 3.6 won't boot into vista. I slowly increased all the setting and finally got 3.6 to boot into Vista, but locked up before long and won't boot back into Vista. This is at 1.42 Vcore in Bios.
Is there a reason for this difficulty?

vSB 1.175
DRAM 2.16
Still locking in vista at 3.6! Yet I can get 3.5 with auto everything and Vcore 1.262 into vista and looking stable so far! Crazy!

Got my Q9450 yesterday L806B326 packdate 14/5 2008 vid 1.175v. And all I can say is that I am more then happy :)

This is with 1.275v in bios 1.256 load but I found out later that it is stable with 1.23v load only, at 3600mhz. I ran that prime on the pic for 10 hours, tested 1.23v at 3600mhz with some OCCT for 1 hour and it passed gonna prime it at 1.23v later. Running a Maximus formula bios(0403) modded to Rampage vtt is 1.24 and vnb is 1.45v. I also got 4 sticks of ram PC8500 Ballistixs.
Been trying som 3800mhz with 1.3v vcore and it seems stable so far will come with some more results later on still in testing state.

You're having the same problem I am. I can get to 3.7 because of the extra .5 multi, but crashes before vista starts loading with any more than that. I tried Bios 6.05 and 6.07 also with no change, and 602 gave me a "unknown processor" error. I was able to boot my Q6600 @ 3.96 and my E6750 @ 4.2 on this board with the same RAM. I don't think the p5e is quite ready for the Yorkfields yet. :(Quote:

But the P5E-VM HDMI can already do beyond 500MHz with no modification at all. You don't even need to update the BIOS.

I have my q9450 @ 3.2 and i've ran prime for over 8 hours with both small FFT and blend without any crashes or BSOD.
But i seem to keep getting a BSOD either during boot up or just by browsing the net. All my temps are within safe limits.
I have a ASUS maximus formula mobo with 1201 BIOS.
Do these settings look ok??

Try to increase your NB voltage by a bit. 4 gigs at 800MHz an 4-4-4-12 timings can be really stressful for the northbridge.
So how many other people have the P5E-VM HDMI and are getting similar results to yours? I was leaning towards buying an Asus P5E or Rampage board. Would this board be better?Quote:

Let's see... trans am has one. Nezzari has one. I think quite a few others as well. I've personally gone through two P5E-VM HDMI boards and have gotten at least 475 FSB on both boards with one X3350 chip and one Q9450 chip. Of course this thing won't win any extreme performance contest, but it's decent enough. Size is definitely a plus.Quote:

With the VDroop mod, I actually get negative VDroop (voltage jumps from 1.31 to 1.33 under load). BTW, I'm using 8 Gigs of GSkill DDR1000, so I think that says alot for this mobo to be able to hit 480 FSB with 8 gigs of RAM.
I get my Q9450 today and I'll post results with it.
ok thanks...i will give it a try. My Q6600 @ 3.2 didn't need alot of NB volts i think it was set at 1.39 under windows. So i take it the q9450 might need more?.Quote:

How far are these chips getting on DFI boards?
And did we decide that these chips are being held back by BIOS support? (it was talk a while ago)
I am getting random lock ups today. Passed 12Hrs Prime Small FFT and 12 HRS blend, and OCCT. Vista locks up randomly with Q9450 at 3.55 (bios 0702) 1.26 vCORE. ANy advise?

Sounds like you might need some more Vcore.
For anyone interested, MicroCenter has the Q9450 Retail on special for $299.00. I went in to return my OEM Q9450 because I feared something was wrong with it, turns out they did not have the OEM in stock and gave me the retail one instead. On top of that they did a return/purchase, so I got back $359.00 and paid $299.00 for the replacement. :shocked:
