KP, still more on the 6800?
GL with 100k:) :toast:
Guys, sponsored or not, won't make any difference....still need skills and (cpu) luck to bench @ 5.2/5.3Ghz:)

Looks nice :D
Do it in 32-bit color and see what your score is :D
Fully agree, specially for 3D Mark2001, skills and talent is essential - and k|ngp|n have an huge ammount of booth..:DQuote:

As I said to Ricky, he time of “amateurism” in top 3D benching real ends.
When we break the 40K barrier (with my FX-53 and a single X800), still was possible for a mere amateur to achieve top tiers results, now with all hardware and cooling involved simply it is not. We have to face the reality.
of course, if the current trend of "benchmarking" as some kind of sport really bothers you maybe you should be wondering why that is? I get more out of it as an intellectually stimulating hobby than I would if I dropped 5Gs on a bench setup and got some ephemeral record. Let's not get too caught up in this...
it is a lot more that just throw a couple of GPUs under LN2, but with this prices latelly, it is become almost imposible for unsponsored guys to even come close.Quote:

Absolutely hipro, money is only part of the equation. You gotta have the attitude and ability as well, Vince is heavy on all counts :D
You forget that another component of overclocking is sheer luck. But I guess Vince has that, too. ;)
yeah when i think nerve i think KP/hipro :fact: :)Quote:

to get a good ocable cpu requires more luck then money .
Not completely. Money can't buy you the best CPU stepping ever if the guy before you already bought it. That's where luck would come in. :cool:Quote:

There are alot of things involved in benching at the top, and definetely $$$ / hardware disponibility is becoming the most important these days. Indeed, the best hardware and cooling cand get you once at the top of the ORB, but without serious knowledge, skill and determination you can't keep that spot for long. Lately i've been trying hard to get the hardware needed, but i still envy Vince for all his determination ...
I`m not :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing at Vince, just the enviable position he has. I wanna make that clear :)
I cant really relate to his scores coz they`re so far above mine :) When Andre or Victor runs a Spi32M at 3600 etc to show something they`re working on, I can relate to that and think I need to work on areas A, B and C to improve myself.
I`d love a mid-range battle with certain component rules, then see whos scores are best...takes money out of it. Theres a Spi 1M mini-comp at OCX for CPUs no faster than 3500, thats something I can get involved in, tho I still get kicked by Kev LOL
Imagine all those people out there with talent put never overclocked before

well there's been a longstanding SPI 32M comp thread here....just look up coop's thread and join up and show us how good you all are..........that really motivated me on AMD platform and i produced some kick arse numbers to match and in some instances beat the greats such as BA/eva2k and others........Quote:

IMO - the $$$ is everything.
Need good hardware? - pay no expence ...
Need skill? - invite a person shipped to your door (for example k|ngp|n) who has for big $$$ :D
Need luck? - personally i got it
Yeah but $$$$ cannot help a retarded person unless he get k|ngp|n to bench for himQuote:

Hey, Michael Jordan didn't get Nike endorsements because he sux and Vince didn't get nVidia endorsements because he sux.
D00ds got skills, simply put.
Yeah right, and a 2006 F1 Ferrari will make you at least as good as Michael Schumacher.
It's easy to just make some comments from the side of the field, but until you don't get in the game you won't understand how come the best clockers around respect each other so much ... you need to actually do something to understand how hard it is.
wonder why you'd take that lineQuote:
