well im hearing the bios update might end on b2 and Im having issues with the new bios , not stable wise , as you where right with the notch up in vdimm . . but it wont boot in ethier Raid or Achi . . only IDE

My 2600K is not really a good chip though... What i'm trying to emphasize is that B3 is harder to clock and love more voltages than B2. Anyway here's my setting for 5.0 GHz

Got B3 UD7 last night, looks identical to B2 other than marking on pcb. Testing tonight, hopefully it clocks the same.
What BIOS you guys using for B3? F3c?
Hopefully you have some good news , either way i think im going over to a B3 also for future bios updates . . .who you do you rma through gigabyte are the the reseller
Nice clock for 1.500 llc1 , Im have to find a chip like that lolQuote:
thanks mate

@ Eldonko........awaiting your results mate....hope they are the same IF not better!! :D
@ Sergio ....nice one fella....I think that chip has more in it...
@owikh84..this has nothing to do with your instability...but why are you running Rank Interleaving with 4gb of ram?? Isn't this for 8gb? It will be slower with 4gb I believe.
hey as a suggestion CPU-Z reading is low compared to real DMM measure point, measure the real voltage from a choke, the variation from idle to load for CPU-Z is the same tho. Somtimes with different LLC the CPU-Z reported is too littel or to much compared to actual, and it can be a problem.
thanks bud i know but i dont want to destroy such nice chip, this is my second and i live in South America kinda hard to get a nice one and wait the arrival etc...
im very happy that does 53x so easy and i think i can stabilize it prime on 5100 with no problem
cheers !
Sergio
Ok set vtt to 1.05v instead of auto.
LinX stable at 1.53v bios LLC2, ET6 reads 1.584v load.
LLC1 1.63v bios? lol it's not about LLC but B3 sucks more voltage than it should be. B2 just needed 1.49v bios 1.536v load
@ stasio, i came back from F3C means it was not good enough. Yet still a voltage sucker.
UD5/7 at newegg right now.
Here is my LLC1,in BIOS (as you can see)1.57V,idle 1.56V and onload 1.536V.

Not sure(I doubt) BIOS improvement on B2 boards.
Bios F8 beta series was where people started complaining about vcore instability issues at previous stable settings. F7e was fine, and either f8x or f8f was needing more vcore for some people. But they were claiming that their 3dmark scores shot way up after going to f8f.
My UD5 has seen no such issue, but unlike the UD7's, our B2 bioses had completely broken LLC through the entire series (LLC1 overshot like UD7's LLC2, and LLC2 overshot so much that the comps went +.15v higher then restarted), that was only fixed with F1 of B3. So UD5 users can't do a direct comparison like that.
If someone is brave enough, they can try to crossflash a B2 board with a B3 bios, or a B3 with the tried and true f7e, or f8x, with the spiflash andrea had linked in an X58 thread message, that had the ID check removed (you can find it with a simple search). This was also being debated on the GB forums. It was suggested that flashing a B2 with a B3 bios should work fine (if you can avoid the id check), but no one suggested the *opposite*. So anyone brave or foolish enough to try, make sure you know how to invoke the backup BIOS (lee posted the poweroff/psu/case button trick) or you have a second board handy.
How do I flash the backup BIOS with B3? It was alt-F12 for B2 but it doesnt work for B3. All I get is the boot menu as if alt wasnt pressed in.
First finding for UD7 B3, CPUZ 1.56.1, 1.56.2 and 1.57 dont report vcore correctly anymore. Worked fine with B2.
LLC 2 appears to be exactly the same as the B2 board. 1.38v BIOS, 1.408 idle, 1.428v load. Overvolting by 0.05v.
This is at 5Ghz with temps in low 60s. Exact settings that worked for B2 for 5G are fine for B3.

While I would love to read through 67+ pages about this board, could I ask everyone's opinion on this board for daily use? I know it's great for benching, but what major bugs are still out there? I'm really thinking about picking one of these up.
Use a PS/2 keyboard for easier key registration.
However, I flashed the backup on my B3 UD5 with a USB (MS sidewinder X4) keyboard, but I had to HOLD alt f12 down right after the CPUID string appeared. Trying to "Tap" it at different points during the sequence didn't seem to do anything. (I wonder how the "Switch primary and backup" by pressing Alt f12 three times, would work...)
What I did exactly was,
as soon as I saw the "CPUID" 34x100" string appear, I held down Alt and F12 (Alt first then F12 immediately after).
Then the board just "froze" for a moment, instead of showing the hard drives, then it said "press any key to copy MAIN bios to BACKUP bios."
I released the two keys when I realized the board had "stopped" continuing the posting and knew that it was going to invoke the bios copy shortly.
This will be blatantly easy to do with a ps/2 keyboard, though.
Different USB keyboards have different issues with being able to get those keystrokes in that early. Some work, a few won't. Holding down the keys should work for any keyboard that can get into the BIOS by "Del".
Im using PS2, USB worked like crap with B2 so I switched to PS2 and never had an issue.
Alt + F12 key or
SHIFT + F8.
Keep "Quick Boot" disabled.

BTW if someone wants to ATTEMPT cross flashing a B2 with a B3 bios (or a B3 with a B2 bios)
You have to use an SPIflash with ID check disabled.
You can try http://www.mediafire.com/?ztnl3xlwjwd
or http://g0rbi.000space.com/index.php?id=11
No idea if either version of spiflash is compatible even with a NON crossflashing, but the one on g0rbi should be newer. YMMV.
Pretty sure going from B2 to B3 would work, as long as the B2 stepping info is still there.
B3 to B2 is choose your own adventure land, since the B3 stepping info isn't in a B2 bios, so that's YMMV. And I take NO responsibility for your computer blowing up if it doesn't work. And make sure you have Leegolfd's emergency backup bios invoke method available.
This would be a great experiment for someone about to RMA their board...
Although same settings from the B2 works on the B3 (except for the vcore which needs more now on LLC1), I could not get the same memory performance. I am doing a one-sided test though, just SuperPI 32M.
Have yet to try flashing. Still using the stock BIOS that came withe board.
Try this HWiNFO32 v3.71-1191 Beta .
I could have sworn I posted this last night but either way I got the backup BIOS flashed finally. You have to have alt-f12 held in immediately when the board POSTs or it doesnt work. If you are half a second late then you just get boot menu. The B2 I had was no where close to this picky but I got it anyway. Probably just a little inconsistency between boards and how they handle flashing backup.
Thanks stasio Ill try that. ET6 reads vcore ok so it is strange that CPUZ doesnt on B3. It appears that CPUZ reads VTT as vcore. I reported it to Franck.
I have a busy week but hopefully this weekend I can run some sub zero and see how B3 does at top end.
Falkentyne called newegg today and it was a good news bad news situation . .
THE GOOD : Newegg will be crosshipping b3 replacements with cc
THE BAD : They say gigabytes supply is very short and they serve as purchased so I might be waiting thru april
this is awesome news ? now we can jump b2 ship and not worry to much :clap:Quote:

I would say it is good news yeah. Havent had any boot issues (like with B2) yet either. What matters for many is what happens at the top end for usability. That is one disadvantage the UD7 has vs asus is ease of use when benching. Boot issues and constant bios corruption gets really annoying fast. I hope B3 is better in this regard.
I so agree with you on this Boot issues and constant bios corruption gets really annoying fast. . . On even stable boots she get quirky every 7 boots , and forget about like ram tweaking after setting bios 1 or 2 times, i gotta clear the board or it starts putting random settings from previous boots before , Hopefully after B3 get's out to the public, we get some clear up some of these issues , because truthfully this is the first top giga board i had with bios issues . . Im starting to feel like someone moved from Ati drivers dept to our bios update section at gigabyte lol
I am running raid 0 with F8f but only with 2 Velociraptors
Hey guys, new OCCT 4.0.0 beta is out.

Why is the GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD7-B3 deactivated on newegg instead of sold out, etc.?
thanks dude . . . now i gotta take this thing apart tonight , times like these i hate watercooling lol
hopefully cause there trying to meet there deadline of rma for exchanges for B2 to B3 , I hope intel is paying them more while they lose sales to exchange out boardsQuote:

Yeah, very good OC on +33C,same as me.
Only AIDA64 outdated.
thanks andressergio and stasio.
look at the vcore and temps.. it is not possible to run higher anymore.
now all i want is just a better CPU. if anyone had extra 2600K (low volt, high multi >54x) and wanna let go, pls let me know.
stasio did you know that AIDA64 runing as gadget on the background made my SLI loose fps and stutter when i use vsync ? so far i was searching for another hardware problem but as my tests are accurate i realized it was my same ever gadget and aida64 doing it...
i had frame drops with VYSNC ON to 55 and 57 = stutter now i got as it should ! on a SLI of GTX570 rock solid 60pfs
just to let you know and i made other guys test and it does the same
cheers !

Use hwinfo32, remember?
If you wanna use the PCIe x1 slot I confirm this works with my HDTV tuner:
http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/4/2...64114865_o.jpg
Nice extenders. Never knew those existed.
And I'm not running afterburner, since my GPU won't go higher than 950 mhz at 1.25v anyway without SUPER high fan speed (not going to try more vcore, proabably hit a wall).
With those extender cables where do you put the card? Hide it behind the motherboard tray or something?
Having useless x1 slot and using pcie x1 card in pcie x16 slot was bugging me. Now I fill better.
Same slot just seats higher.
Got 58x to work for the first time ever with B3 today.
With sub zero though, couldnt even get into windows with 55x on H20. Seems B3 is very picky with temps compared to B3.
B2 pb was 5767, got to 10Mhz less with B3 http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1731535
Hell of a lot easier to work with. No more BIOS corruption and pretty much anything will POST at the minimum.
Talking about B3 mine should be here tomorrow from newegg they did cross shipping for me , but I also gotta thank Lsdmeasap cause if the newegg didn't happen he had helped me with the gigabyte RMA :) , Im start from zero see if i get any different results with my proc and rams
Yeah B3 is waaay easier to work with, on sub zero anyway. Boot issues and BIOS corruption issues are gone. It is less picky with secondary memory timings as well. I had to leave secondaries on auto with B2 when booting at high freq.
I dont know if was same issue as you but when i booted my system in morning when it was cold and loop was about 19c I would always get boot issues then after second start all was fine . . . if bios corruption is finally gone I would considered this back as gigabyte quality , and be very happy as im tired of clearing bios on configuration changes . . . I have some memory mushkin redlines that was giving me problem with settings so im still using my super talents hopefully i get some better results :yepp:
But your sig says you're using B3.
You're getting boot issues on B3?
Did you update to latest beta bios? As that makes things even better than F1 or F2...
Ill put it this way. I benched for 4 hours this afternoon with sub zero. Loads of bsod and freeze from pushing too far and I never had to reset CMOS once. With B2 every single freeze corrupted the dam BIOS. I could also tighten up secondaries and still boot which was a first. 10Mhz less that I achieved at the top end with B2 but that could be a slight degradation who knows. IMO B3 is a lot better, but it is because of a better BIOS, nothing is different hardware wise.
sorry lol just got ahead of myself and changed signature lol I tried the last beta bios and boot problems went away and than I inherited problems with my two ssd's , so i had no choice but to stick with F8X . . . I figure it this way if i cant get a free B3 swap why not , my data is very important to me as i run two 1 terabyte backup drives on the effected ports , even if I lost 2ghz in speed I take reliability any day
Are the achi issues limited to you, intel ssd's or what? I am itching bad to hit the buy button on this board but I have two C300's I want to run R0. This board just seems very buggy and immature from the few pages I've browsed. BTW, are any of you running pcie sound cards?
Hey chuchnit the achi issues are only with me and two other people so far on a beta bios,
And yes there are buggs but you have to own this board to understand that it is great even with the buggs that are getting worked . . . Is it immature yes so imagine when the new b3 bios get worked out for the highest clocking board . . . Hit the button
Thanks. I about hit the buy button last week on the MIVE but the EATX form factor stopped me. UD7 is my only other choice. :yepp: Stupid me is going with a cased build instead of a bench table. This is gonna be the daily grinder. Thanks
I have glanced over it before but will give it a full read this morning. Thanks.
Anytime man!
The review isn't that long or in-depth because I rushed to get it out due to the recall, so it shouldn't take you too long to look through, but there is plenty of SSD results you can check out in it.
I ran single, RAID x2, and RAID x 3 all with C300's
I do have a question since the pcie x1 port is all but useless. If I want to use my pcie x1 sound card in the bottom most pcie slot will that render pcie x16_1 slot down to x8 link? That useless x1 slot is my only real gripe about this board.
That should be fine.
The bottom PCIE slot is PCIE x8-2, and shares bandwidth with the PCIE x16-2 slot, so as long as you are not using the second PCIE x16 slot you will be fine running your sound card in that last x8 slot.
Quote:
2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x16 (PCIEX16_1, PCIEX16_2)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16_1 slot; if you are installing two PCI Express graphics cards, it is recommended that you install them in the PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2 slots.
2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x8 (PCIEX8_1, PCIEX8_2)
* The PCIEX8_1 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16_1 slot and the PCIEX8_2 slot with PCIEX16_2. The PCIEX16_1/PCIEX16_2 slot will operate at up to x8 mode when the PCIEX8_1/PCIEX8_2 is populated.

Still on F1 BIOS, much improved over B2 BIOS except for these last 2 quirks that I can find. Anyone still getting occasional USB overcurrent warnings and that weird FDC present?

Hi all guys,
I'm a little confused,
I'll get my UD7-B3 rev on tuesday, what is the best BIOS I should take? there are so many different version around.
If someone could show me the light :)
Thx !
F3C or whatever the latest B3 beta is.
nice setup,
is there any way to disable all the LEDS that are lit on the mainboard?
Kick your memory.
Memory setting 8-9-8-34 and stock voltage?
