Please do 20 passes with 2 cores at 5.6GHz, then do 5.8GHz with 1 core and stay first on a list for a long time. :yepp:

I don't know when I`ll have the chance to bench again on cascade. It`s not mine, It`s a friend`s cascade, but when I have the chance i`ll try ;), for sure if the NB is cooled better the CPU can do more :). Also disabling the second core helps the first one to stay cooler so I think 9x650 with 1 core or smth like that is possible :).

Don't know if 4threads linX qualifies, but in fact it's harder to pass then 8threads ( I'll do 8 at night). Due to the gflops beeing lower it will, for sure, take forever
How come I was not in the last update? I don't see anything wrong with my settings.

Yeah, if you want. It's not against the rules. Hence me mentioning the number of cores and threads in the OP. ;)
For SB, all things considering, it does, sure. I'd actually recommend using that for SB since current Linpack implementation is not ideal...
Hmmm, who is that, then? Looks familiar... :p: An imposter, perhaps? Want me to get rid of this one?!

According to the rules on page 1 of the forum - only the CPU-Z window showing the frequency is required. While I appreciate that other have showed the CPU-Z memory page - it is not required.
Quote:
Do you want to join the club? Then make a post and follow the rules:
You must have at least 2GB of memory installed in the system.
Screenshot must show a CPU-Z window with 4.5GHz+ frequency.
(Update: 3 Jan, 2011) Sandy Bridge owners - please only post 5GHz+ submissions. I am keen on preserving the challenge, so I will only add SB to the 5GHz club. Thank you for understanding.
Screenshot must show a LinX window (max memory settings, click "All" button or pick the last memory size option from the drop down menu, the "All" option is highly recommended) either running the 20th+ loop with no errors, or with 20+ successful passes.
(Update: 14 Dec, 2010) Please make sure that LinX is running / calculating (21st or higher number loop) when you're taking your screenshot (on at least one of your screenshots). You obviously want a CPU-Z window with 4.5GHz+ (5GHz+ for Sandy Bridge) frequency on the same screenshot, as well.
This rule will be enforced for all the new submissions.
Click here to download the latest version of LinX with updated Linpack libraries
List the motherboard you used.
List the cooling you used (cooling type at least, such as: air / chilled air / water / chilled water / phase).
List your full batch number (highly recommended, but not a must).
Optionally, you could show us your voltages using a program coming with your motherboard, such as EasyTune, E-Leet, TurboV, etc.
Therefore my run should be valid. :D
I've got 12GB of ram in this puppy any it takes more than 4 hours to run the test - much longer than the other "Stable" submissions.
Stan the topic of "what is stable" is near and dear to my heart.
I certainly agree that 1hr is not a long enough duration to attest an OC being 24/7 stable. On a day-day basis I run a 4.2 GHz OC in which the stability was tested by various 8hr OCCT linpak tests. Over the years I've been changing my "stability" standards in line with the various tools available, prior to linpak and OCCT I would have run prime95 for 24hrs to attest stability.
However! I must agree that for the purpose of this thread 1hr is sufficient to post a configuration for "bragging" rights. Its like configuring a vehicle just for the purpose of attaining the highest top speed ever or lowest 0-60 times.
I loath the act of posting SuperPI or 5run Intel Burn Test screenshots with the insinuation that this is somewhat "stable".
Kudos to the author for putting a reasonable goal for the i7s. Perhaps if the Sandys are to easily OCable the 5GHz bar might be raised?
Zalbard,
How about separating the groups by those running all their CPU theads and those just running the cores. I notice that many people are just running the cores to get into the 5+ group. That's reallying gaming it since they are only producing half the heat and using half the power - essentially running thier CPUs at 50% load.
I think this baby has a little left in her. I'll play some more tomorrow. 5.0 GHz is actually pretty easy to obtain. I did get a bummer of a chip at Fry's. Could NOT get in to Windows at anything above 4.3 no matter what I tried. I'll stick with MC. They seem to get better CPU's.

The OP's been updated!
Quality first post. Welcome to the club! :D
Very nice, indeed! And not big deal, really, it's not required, and LinX tells us how much memory it uses anyway. ;)
No can do, I am afraid. We have too many categories already, and that would lead to an even bigger list with extra nearly-identical submissions. I don't want that. This club isn't about ranking, but if you want the top spot then this just one of the tricks to get there.
Also, no way that's 50% load. HT creates virtual cores, not real ones, and judging by heat output and performance, that's at least 90%, if you ask me. :) LinX is highly optimised to use everything your CPU has to offer, regardless of HT. This is one of the reasons why no-HT submissions have higher GFlops. The stress levels are usually somewhat lower, however (hence the 90%+ assumption).
how do I get the batch number of my CPU?
Tried 5.1 @ 1.5v today and it BSOD on the 19th Linx pass. What a bummer. It's cooler today so the temps stayed the same. I'll try again later. I know my BCLK is only good to about 101.5...too many hard drives and video cards that keep me down.
I know I can get 5.1 or 5.2 if I have the cajones to do it. My temps are fine. My 24/7 so far is 4.5 @ 1.35 with normal LLC, XMP for the memory, offset set so that I can keep all of the voltages and speed down when not needed and everything else on auto.

Nice find, I updated the link in the OP.
What's your suggestion, then?
I can't think of any way to verify that AVX is being used.
The only thing I can think of is splitting the 5GHz club into "Over 100 GFlops" and "Under 100 GFlops".
But can a 5GHz i7 2600K with HT enabled produce more than 100 GFlops using the latest (10.3.2.005) Linpack?
I can't afford purchasing SB any time soon, so please test this instead of just bumping the thread. Thank you.
Configure LinX to run on 4 threads only. This should increase stress levels (slightly) and improve GFlops output (significantly).
And yeah, that's valid (for SB only, though).
I have some very helpful members giving me feedback right now, and it looks like this scenario might be the way to go for SB testing. :yepp:
Still investigating, though.
It's not really 54%, it's just not using HT. It is pretty much maxed out. :yepp:
almost there, I just can't believe the temp difference:shrug:
either way it is cool to see 120 gflops:clap:

Great effort, everyone! Keep pushing!
Now that's a proper run! Time to say "Damn, that's awesome!" :D
Please read the rules. You need to take a screenshot while LinX is still running.
Done!
Play with CPU PLL, IOH PLL (can undervolt these); may also need more QPI PLL. Try PCIE @ 101MHz. Play with CPU Impendance and QPI Signal Compensation if you have these available.
@ everyone:
Rules haven't changed in regards to using all the memory you've got.
You don't need more than 1GB of memory for OS and applications. Enable Page File. Do a short LinX run to free up some RAM. I don't want to see 2GB LinX runs with 4GB of RAM installed any more.
Thanks.
Also... I have addressed the AVX issue, I think. Please refer to the OP.
And the last thing... Need a colour to highlight Asrock boards. Suggestions, please? :)
An option would be to use Orange for Asrock and DarkOrange for ASUS... But I am not sure I like it...

Looks good, thanks! I'll wait a bit for some more feedback and go with the most popular option. :)
Also, could someone please add the following tags to the thread: "5ghz" and "100gflops"? I reached my limit, unfortunately.
@ zalbard
Already did the 5GHz + 100 Gflops with my good chip. Here. My second chip will do it but not on air. Third loop in Linx "4C 4T bios" was already 95 deg @1.44+.Vcore
And people are telling about Sandy Bridge running so cool...
I think we've found the new 'difficulty barrier' which is 5GHz with AVX on to replace the old one (4.5GHz for 45nm chips). I'm kind of glad about it, 5GHz seemed a bit easy-mode and not worth bothering with a club for without AVX. Now the challenge is officially back! :D
Bump for this! More feedback before I go with "sienna" option, please.
Bump for this also. :p:
It's brought back to life and replaced your current non-AVX submission. Nice job, and thanks for pointing it out!
Sorry for the double post, but it's worth it! ;)

It is not because Linpack is poorly optimized for Sandy Bridge chips. Linpack is a standard SIMD program, which is born to be against HT. Forcing 8 threads on a 4C8T CPU would only get worse Linpack performance due to overheads caused by context switch etc.
Thanks.
I just re-installed that chip and tested a little higher at the same Vcore. (HT off in Bios). Think I need to remount or I used too much AS5. Had to be real close to throttling

I don't mean to crap on your parade, but if you read the first post Zalbard states that you must a show a screen shot of linx running after 20 successful passes, i.e. set it to run 25 and take screen shot after pass 21.
Other than that everything looks good:up:
That's a good one  . That's a good vCore for 24/7 on a 6-core.
With the resent 34% price-drop, these 970 are good and "affordable" alternatives to SB now.
I'm not sure about the production date on this chip, but those produced after Intel's move to 990x can have a really good OC-headroom.
