Im gona do the same while im waiting, leave it till 2morow morning and try again. I took battery out too. Im shorting CMOS and Secondary reset. (The 2 next to each other in bottem right corner) Isnt the J12 thing to do with CPU fsb?
Good show, fingers crossed she'll be golden.
I'm not going to bother trying an RMA, the place I got it from knows me & my antics only too well & I would feel like a wanger asking them to send it back to Intel. I got it trade & pulling a fast one with an RMA might damage my cred with them & make them think twice when I really need them.

Can anyone confirm if OCZ Alpha PC8000 will boot up and get into bios? I have the 2 X 1gb set
Noes ... it looks like my E8500 is dead too :( i've just tried it in a D33FB (intel board that supports 1333mhz) and the machine boots, the fans stop, the machine boots, the fans stop, the machine boots and this continues :(
probably going to need to warranty that aswell!! ill just have to wait to see if i can get my e6600 working in the X38 tomorrow first then try the e8500
So big shocker...
The transpiper does not do jack for your pwm temps, oh well I was the $30 guinea pig.
Save your dough, buy a nice fan, and call it good.
My P35 took 24 hours to come back & now she's trucking along happy again http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=3467
Once I started getting a few more lines/digits showing up on the post screen I found cycling the PSU on & off to force the board to double boot soon started showing me more & more on the post screen until I had a full 88 then I swapped out the CPU & it burst into life.
MX-2 is doing very good job after 5 day's I got about 9c drop in temp for my PWM temp, and I didn't change anything so I'm very happy with it, the only thing I'm going to do is put the 60x60x15mm fan on it and then I don't think I will take a look @ it ever again :D
So MX-2 is the way to go guy's, just needs some time for burning in and you'll become happy and stable :)

Has someone tried to compare the DFI LP LT X38 against the praised DFI LP UT P35, and maybe against the DFI LP UT X38? :)
I'm considering buying this card, so I wonder what is the general thoughts and experiences about the card? :)
got it on my NB, cpu & gpu already :), its good shizznit
I've got some Noctua NT-H1 I'll be using. Good stuff, too ;)
dose the transpiper help the cpu at all or just the pwm
why the heck does newegg not carry the dfi x38 mobo.. they offer a 1 year replacement on their dfi lanparty dark mobos and the only cheap place i can find this is motherboardpro but they only offer 15 day return policy and then it has to go to dfi. newegg will replace it for a year?? at least they do on the dark model??.. why dont they carry it .. really sucks
newegg had 1 shipment (that were i got mine) then discontinued it since its a low production product, from what it looks like the dfi x38 dark will be easier to get from volume retailers since it seams that the x38 is not yielding for teh higher quality boards since intel is duel binning the chipset so the internally binned x38 dont have as many that can meat lt/ut requirements
thats just my theory there was like 300 of them globally in the 1st few shipments so there cant be more than 1000 total and thats pushing it
what? you mean 1000 mobo's total? why is that?
and why do i read on a ton of review sites like tweaktown etc they say that the x38 chipset limits the oc of the mobo way more than p35 does? mostly due to power requirements?? what is that about can someone elaborate? thanks
btw hoping praz or someone can chime in here?
It is a pain
disconect everything including DVI
Do the jumpers for 5 to 10 Min. - push on the reset a bit - put the battery back in - hook power back up to on
wait a bit and put the jumpers back to go
she should fire up.
If that doesn't work move your ram around to a different slot. ITS seems funny like that.

pretty good x38 vs x48 article
Quote from praz when asked this question in the P35 thread:
Quote:
If I was buying a board with the possibility of CrossFire at some point in time I wouldn't be limiting myself to x4 on one of the slots when x16 was an existing option.
The two are pretty even as far as overclocking potential. If I had to give the edge to one it would be the P35 as it seems slightly better with the memory side of things. The X38 was developed for DDR3 so naturally there was some compromising that needed to be made with DDR2 performance. The plus side of the X38 is the straps. There's very little performance difference between strap changes. I tend to look at the different settings as just memory dividers.
and from what i read everywhere the x48 is supposed to be a "speed binned" version of the x38 how did dfi go about selecting their x38 chipsets.. did they test them before hand or did they request certain specs from intel etc.. love more info
wish we could get more info on this ..
Sorry. Don't have that info. But i do know there's an awful lot of posts in this thread for the board to be limited to 1000. I would think that a lot of people that view this thread are X38 owners. So i'm thinking the 1000 boards is probably a bit shy of what was actually produced.
Have we found what memory works best in this? My OCZ PC8000 wont boot. I wont be buying any OCZ again all they have casued me is trouble!
ive used crucial balistix 6400 and G.SKILL PC8000
Do they boot bios from scratch or do you have to Voltage bump?
yeap and wont take my ocz. speaking to dfi techincal and they surgesting loads of stuff and none of it works! starting to get ***** off.
I have some generic 667mhz stuff that works, but wont allow me to get my OCZ working. Got some G Skill on way, but just some 6400 stuff. Also the board headers to case dont work, on/off etc... and thats also very annoying
Yeap done that. Also cleared cmos over night etc... entered many different voltages and timings and also set memory strap etc.. tryed everything. Still email back and forth to technical help. They seem very reluctant to RMA, I belive this is because they have made there recomended list up, as how can they get it to work and then not me? Unless my board really is DUFF and needs to be RMA'ed which would explain headers for case, which they havent address at all yet. Been talking to technical surport for over 2 days now and got no where.
its a bit suspect that the headers are not working.
Have you tried the OCZ in another pc?
I've tried to contact HPM-Computer about possibly RMA'n my board but they've not responded and i e-mail'd last night but when i contacted them about buying the board i had a reply in <1 hour :/
Id ring them mate, they didnt get back to me on email for 16hr so I rang them. I think they are reulctant to do anything regarding RMA, as all they said to do was mail DFI directly which I did and talking to them. Im in talks with "Wendell Smith" <Wendell.smith@dfi-europe.nl> from DFI technical surport. Tho they seem up there own backsides and think everything they make is perfect as they are saying im the 1st RMA they have had which im sure is ****! The OCZ passes mem test for 12hr + and works in my other pc. They have even blamied my PSU saying that they need to be 700+W. They are a Corsair 520W and a Coolermaster 700W which im sure is fine!
wow dfi tech has always been great when i spoke with them in the past.. have you checked over at dfi club to see if anyone has any ideas?
so it will not boot even with everything set to stock minus voltage?? have you been able to try booting with some el cheapo 667 ram sticks? just curious
Cheers. I havent but will now. They are good im sure, I dont want to slate them. But seems we have tryed everything and they are taking blind shots and just guessing now. They are very reluctant to RMA which I dont mind at min as will work with the generic stuff, although doesnt explain headers not working:confused:
Id like to know how they can put it on their recomended list and it not boot at all? Thast very very missleading
where did you buy it from?
Germany (tho im in UK) I got it from Trend PC
ahh i know in the usa some places offer a 1 year replacement policy..
Well Il be entitled to it anyway, I have a 30 day one. But im thinking they might just have lyed about compatible memory, doesnt explain the case headers tho
imo if you are within your time i would exchange it through the vendor first.. at least try a second one there is always a chance it could be a bad mobo
Thanks have emailed and will let you know what they say. Werid that it works with generic memory tho. Im trying to find what memory people on here says works and what doesnt. No-one seems to have OCZ alpha's,I wonder why(Hmmmm)
Trend PC have been great and agreed to take mine back but said they arent due any more boards till 19th feb but will try and get me one sooner.
excellent.. see i always ask the vendor first as long as its within a reasonable period of time, now if you have the same issue with the next one imo i would think its either the ram or it being not compatible
I have mixed feelings ...
I have OCZ XTC SLI EPP 8500C5 2x1GB and that thing wont boot on any 300/X divider .. grr
rev.A China board with 2008/01/11 (111) official bios
I had quite success at 266/X divides (specifically 266/800) = 600mhz 5-5-5 trd 6 @ 2,23V and a Q6600 1,38V and 3600MHz,
I want to switch to 8X divider, high FSB but dont want to go crazy on the volts
Any suggestions?
bad news everone. x38's are gone from motherboard pro and the eta is ...READY FOR THIS .... MARCH before they get any more.. wow now what do i do. this sucks bad i cant believe i didnt order one last night. some jerk bought the last 26 they had in stock according to the person i spoke with...

yeah thats what i said to them on the phone.. really ticks me of.. i had it in my cart and when i went to check out it said they were out of stock. right before there were 26 available.. arghhhhhhhhhhhhh
now i either have to go dfi p35 if i want dfi or wait till march for one... very mad
I don't know where you live but perhaps this is an option:
http://www.hpm-computer.de/product_i...T-X38-T2R.html
They have them in stock.
im in the usa.. would cost me a fortune from there for shipping
Here you go, its a bit more expensive, but they say they're in stock.
http://www.ncixus.com/products/27482...20X38-T2R/DFI/
yeah add to that 22$ shipping charges also ... ridiculous for shipping a mobo..
OCZ Alpha Titaniums 2X1gb PC8000 1000mhz 4-4-4-15 at 2.3v EVP 2.4v
sean explained more and made himself clearer to me --- edit
you get great service from ncix no need to deal with dfi for rma
most etailers give you 30 days ncix takes care of you for 1 year
i paid 275can$ when mothrboardpro was selling then @ 290us$
to be honest i rather pay more n get great service for a year not 30 days +crossshipping:)
what really??? i thought dfi only repaired them after 90 days?? does ncix price match??
motherboard pro said these have a one year replacement through them as well
okay well i cant say enough how well motherboard pro has helped me so far now i have not recieved the mobo yet of course but they in fact added another one to their order for me and i should have it withing about a weeks time.
they answered all my questions and said it is a one year replacement then repir after that. so up till now i cant say enough how great they took care of it and squeeked me in one right before the drought of these hits.
so i join the ranks of dfi lt-x38 users when it gets here i simply cant wait now..
also sorry for any confusion about the 2 mobo's i.e. the dark and the x38 and the dark being the better overclocker as i stated in another thread. when talking with sean today we misundertsood each other somehow and got mixed up. we spoke tonight and it was all cleared up.. so if i made anyone freak and call dfi i apologize up front. and sean said if he wasn't clear he feels the same way.. so sorry again for any confusion.. i was stumped all day after talking with him trying to figure out myself how the dark would be the better mobo.. just a misunderstanding..
me too especially since i almost bought the dark instead!!!
wow back in stock at newegg now.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136042
no they do not price match on the us site i tried today
according to motherboard pro dfi has a 1 year exchange policy and then its repair after that..at least through them is what they said as well as ncixus does they rma it for a year then the last 2 years are through dfi directly.
not sure how soon you will see the rampage from what almost every company i asked told me it will be between 1-3months
yeah even dfi told me 3 months for the x48 mobo's..
hrm, ive just put the bios battery back in after 36ish hours are no joy :( still error '8'
can someone speak german who would be willing to translate an RMA form for me?
There's also babelfish
i Have a problem , this 45nm are a fsb wall with this X38-T2R i think
Max 521 with the multi 9.5 or 6 :(
No boot at 500mhz

nm, it's a bad stick of ram :(
One of my best..
Picked up this board after my EVGA 680i gave up on me (C1 and 1D error codes), couldn't be any happier. Flashed to the newest BIOS, adjusted just DRAM (2.00v) and CPU (1.42v, 1.424v in Windows) leaving the rest of the settings at default (1.21 Nbridge, 1.2 FSB, etc), booted up and stress testing for the past hour at 3.6. Amazing compared to the 680i that required 1.5+ vcore and 1.65 for the Nbridge and around 1.4 FSB.

i love this board im at 4.07 and have the best vista duel core 3870 for 3dmark06 (i know thats kinda specific)
http://www.hwbot.org/signature.img?i...79&thumb=false
i just wish that i had some better ram, its holding me back
what is the recc ram for this mobo?? anything specific
my boards going back to germany for a refund :(
wow man.. it took a whole heck of a lot to get one of these.. since they will be on backorder for a while and now they are in stock at newegg for less than what i paid for mine a day later arghhhhh ...... it was the whole had to get one now since i will not find them for a month ... should have waited one day.. newegg just dropped the price from 269.99 to 239.99...
i still have to wait.. at least a week. i would have had it friday from newegg
I payed less when I got mine :), right after I got mine they raise the prize on Alternate.at Paid 203Euro's and after the prize was 218 and right now it's 208Euro's. But think positive as you got one against the other's since there are really not that much out anyways :D
oh yeah im still happy no doubt at least i got one coming.. just that i know i could have had it running this weekend and saved 10$ lol..
