Thanks for the feedback Sailrabbit. I think I will install the screw form the top and then grind it down so it is level with the surface. I'm not really sure about using double stick foam tape as the PSU will be hot and I'm worried about it getting too hot and coming loose, I will keep you guys updated once I've gotten everything, thanks once again.

I did not drill my mnpctech rubber case feet. I used 3M's double sided tape. Works and holds like a charm.Quote:

I just have a professional prejudice against double-sided tape that leads me to seek almost any solution that avoids it.
Fair enough, I don't think I'd be using double sided tape or at least not the really weak ones. I'm going to look for some strong Fiberglas Epoxy glue to hold the sucker down, I just need to make sure it won't come loose with all the heat from the PSU. Any suggestions as to what's a good glue to use? :rolleyes:

Heya guys well i recently did somes mods on my good old Antec 900
So i decide to include a Liquid Cooling Solution to my case but since i was using a Quad cores Cpu i knew i had to go at least for a 2X120 radiator but had no place to install it inside the case
so after that use my brain ;) i found out a HardDisk is not that mutch thick so i relocate thems on the side of the case and now im even able to close my side panel without a problem
but another problem apear i had no more hd cages to hold the front fans
so after i use my brain ;) i found a plastic basket that was able to contain 2 X 120 mm fans
i trim the edge so it can fit inside the hd cage location and voila i got my tunel ram for my radiator who's powered by quad fans

Nice work dude, why didnt you just mount the rad on the back and then use the watercooling ports to go to the CPU.

Thanks Will, I will try and find some, I got some epoxy glue yesterday which I'm also thinking of using so I'll let you guys know which route I take in the end. I'm so damn annoyed because I've ordered the legs from "mnpctech.com" but with standard postal service it can take up to 20 days!!!! Ugh I hate it, I could of paid an extra $89 to get it DHL'd over but thats just ridiculous money for such a small item, now I'm thinking I should have paid it because my PSU and Ram arrived today from the UK and I'm just waiting on the legs and the tubing to go around the edges of the holes I've cut :shakes:.Quote:

well i know it will be possible to fit the rad outside but im not done yet i want to kool down the chipset with Liquid Cooling so a second rad gona be install ouside where the 120mm fan is located on the back of the case

Hey guys...my computer has been running great since I built it...the only thing I haven't figured out yet, is how to get all these fans to turn off when the computer goes to sleep...or at least some of the fans.
Hibernate worked for getting them to turn off, but sleep just shuts off the monitor and all the fans connected to my power supply keep running full speed. So i tend to not want to just let the computer stay on all the time like I would if the fans would get quieter or something.
Any ideas or places I could start?
@ ashzerodg - Don't know how to do it in software, but have you given any thought to a fan controller? Put the ones you want to throttle back on a controller and manually turn them down when you put the CPU to sleep. Or you could just put them on an On/Off switch.

Couple of quick questions.....
Ive noticed that alot of people place the fan cages higher up where the media drives go....is this to benefit airflow?
Im putting together a build for my wife tomorrow using the Antec 900[always have loved this case and got the newest revision] that should be pretty nice...WAS debating on doing the paintjob....decided against it for time[she wants it this weekend....someone PLEASE tell me there is a quick drying long lasting flat black spray paint out there PLEASE!!!] but will be doing some of the cable management mods Ive seen.

Mobo-EVGA 750i sli FTW edition
CPU-Intel Q6600 [with go stepping would love to get minimum 3.4-3.6ghz on the L811A797 series...but we will see]
CPU cooler- Zalman 9700nt[for the chrome look and green LED to match the PSU]
GPU- 2 x PNY 8800gt [she had one in old comp and newegg had them for 110$]
RAM- 2 x 2gig Mushkin 1066 Ascent [researched it as abit better than the corsair I WAS going to use...may go with the OCZ Ram cooler/fan]

@ Mikael116 as far as I'm aware most people place the fan cages higher up to draw air in and direct it onto the CPU and Ram to cool them down, which makes sense. I'm going to have one fan cage one driver bay down from the top, then a CD drive underneath it and then the second fan to cool the Graphics card (or at least that's the plan anyway)
Anyone know how to remove the wires on the tricool fan molex's since they are like double sided. I want to sleeve them, any help apriciated.

Humm, I've removed my standard fan molex's off and if it's the same thing that I'm thinking off I just put a very thin flat head screw driver into both sides of the male connector and pushed the little inserts in wards (this is what holds it on) and I think there are two on each male connector. I don't know if that explanation makes sense but here are a few links that might help you out (they helped me out)

Lool:rofl:, I better hide as many wires as I can on mine before posting pics up :p:. I've given up on waiting for the stands and tubing for the cut-outs because it can take up to 24 bloody days!!!! I've already waited a week and got impatient yesterday so I stuck some foam at the bottom of the case to hold it up in the meantime until my stands arrive. Plus I've gotten around to installing the MB, Fan, CPU, PSU, and today I'll be finishing it off with the Ram, HD, CD Drive and Graphics card and hopefully it'll all start up (considering everything has been brought over by Air over a month ago) so I hope I don't have any faulty/damaged goods......Wish me luck :rolleyes:Quote:

Really diggin this forum!! So many great ideas!! I actually have a 1200 (shhhhh) but your ideas cross over perfectly.
I want to try the hard drive reversal, but I'm hesitant. Has anyone done this with the huge video cards? I have a pair of 9800gtx's right now there is 5/8 of an inch between the cards and the drives. From the pictures it looks like when you turn the drives around you lose even more space.
Also, there was some discussion of "sagging" VGA cards after time. I would like to avoid this if possible, so I've been searching for aftermarket supports to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on what direction to go with this?

Guys.. I need some SERIOUS help with cable managment, even with a modular PSU I have it looks like crap.
The thing is, I do NOT want to cut holes, is there a way to get "decent" cable managment without cutting holes?
I have the newer version so it automatically has two holes cut between the mobo and harddrive cages but there not really in a helpful spot.
And the 8 pin connector that goes into the mobo is at the very top and the wires to short to go any other route.
This motherboard has horrible placement...

Best bet really seems to be cutting holes. Cutting the hole in the bottom would allow you to flip the PSU and move the cables closer to the "back" of the case. This will help with length a little, and moves the cables out of the limelight. As for the 8pin, you could always buy an extension cable to keep from having to run over the top of the video card. That's what I did with my 4pin cable.
I have a Rev 1 case without holes at all, so my only option is to cut holes. Gonna be a project that I am FINALLY starting in a couple weeks!!!

Fred is correct that MDF contains ingredients that are carcinogens, but only one that isn't contained in plain old wood.
See the MSDS for it here. (Open the PDF and look down to page 6.)
However, some very basic precautions can greatly reduce the dangers. A dust mask and good ventilation is all you need.
And how many things that we do would benefit from those precautions? Spray paint & primer, solder, sanding & using cutting disks, etc, etc, etc. All have the possibility of dust and/or vapors that are best avoided. Safety first!:)

I would add.
Get yourself a scrap pc case, from your local junkyard, and wreak havoc on it. :D
With a small drill-bit and rat-tail file,, you can create more or less any size or shape of hole you wish, finishing it off with a Medium Half-round file.
First of all, scribe (scratch) your desired shape into the paint/bare metal of your case, then (with some scrap wood G-Clamped behind, as support) centre punch then drill a series of small holes (closely together) INSIDE your marked line. (allowing for half the diameter of the drill-bit + a 'midge's-****' for luck!).
Afterwards, join up your holes, using your rat-tail file, or (unlike me) if your rich prosperous and SKILLED :rofl: a cutting wheel, mounted in a drill or 'dremel'.
(Don't forget the EYE PROTECTION ! :eek:).
Before finally filing down to your line, with the medium file.
To get the idea, below, is my first attempt at my 900
(Which is why I'm recommending a scrap case, first ! ) :ROTF: :

Notice (at '11 o' clock') on the cut-out, the 'trauma' caused to the metal, as the drill 'bit' though ! :shock2: caused by me being lazy, and using too large a drill-bit. Needless to say, I rapidly downsized !
(Fortunately the aperture needed to be larger than I first thought, and I was able to remove the damaged area. Phew !).
The final shape is just down to sweat and filework. :D
You can always do the same, but on a smaller scale, with a very small drill bit and set of 'modeller's' files :

Also did a side panel 'mod'. Someone in this thread mentioned he used a clipboard to create a black triangle for the side panel (thanks for the tip!!) and I did the same. Looks pretty nice if you ask me, and it silences the case a bit too.

You will pay a fraction for tools what a custom build would cost.
@d_mon1 - Fredthered gives good advice. Eye protection is absolutely required when working with metal. And a good recommendation to practice on a junk case. I went dumpster diving behind a few of the local PC repair shops and found an antique Compaq that was prime for some hacking and slashing. Probably saved me from having to replace a side panel or two (or more).
Sailrabbit also gives a great tip about using the step drills. One way to make cable management slots is to drill two holes and then connect them with a nibbler, saw, or Dremel.
Definitely, do this yourself, the satisfaction is worth more than you could ever spend on tools. Remember a few things:
1) Safety first. Eye & hearing protection. Good ventilation. Dust mask. Good lighting.
2) Measure twice, cut once. Like Fredthered says, "You can always cut off more, you can't put it back."
3) Take your time.
4) Realize that you will get frustrated at some time. Working mad is almost a guaranteed way to screw up something, take a step back and breathe.
My advice would be similar to what everyone's given, but the tools I'm happiest with is my Dremel, it's a brilliant piece of kit and I'd recommend it for anyone! The other is my cordless drill, it's very useful I do use my normal drill for somethings but the cordless is the one I use the most. They were worth the money and it feels good when you can look back and see what you've done, it makes the case yours rather than someone elses creation.
As everyone has said, wear eye protection! Try not to scratch them as it gets annoying and that's when you take them off and get a piece of metal in your eye.
4) Realize that you will get frustrated at some time. Working mad is almost a guaranteed way to screw up something, take a step back and breathe.

4 GB RAM
500W soon to be 800W probably
9800GTX+ that I just started to overclock a little.

That MSI board bit the dust shortly after I took these photos and has been replaced with an EVGA board, but it looks pretty much the same on the inside. I'll be retiring this setup in a couple of months - 'already got my Mountain Mods case. w00! :up:

Ok I didn't have to cut that large hole sitting between the original two cutouts, I'm a first time dermal user and got a bit carried away with it all, plus I was using the OP's guide lines which were based on an older version of mine, realized it when it was too late, but anyway it's ok because you can't see it once the MB is on :up:

lol I know I go a bit carried away, main reason was because I had a little bit of an overhang and didn't want the rig tipping over if it was front side heavy. I know I could have probably achieved the same result if I just used 6, but since I had 8 I just stuck 'em all in there (Shouldn't topple over in the event of an earthquake :p:)

^ Yup, quite a few people in this thread have done the same mod which is where I got the idea. I just had to use the most retarded tool to cut the hole =P, so I had to score the circle first and then I cut it with a dermal, really happy with it as my old system had the fan facing into the case right on top of the Graphics card which sucked.
