Are you interested in making the XFI MB 2 work on any computer ?
Here's what that is said on Internet :
Do you think that SupremeFX version 1 or SoundMAX is compatible with XFI MB 2 ?Quote:
with the first version of X-Fi MB not many codecs were supported besides realtek and ADI's(not many ADI's were supported) HD codecs
The Supreme FX 1 an 2 are ADI codecs on risers and use X-Fi MB,
with Trustudio(kinda like X-Fi MB 1.5) though the X-Fi Xtreme Audio is also supported but the drivers are only given to specific vendors and are hard to find even for the version that supports the codecs.
with X-Fi MB and Trustudio any codec that supports software host(IE:Creative Host Program) is supported but creative has to add them in(it was easier to add it in yourself with X-Fi MB but creative blocked it out and coded it into the dll's instead of an ini in the very first version of Trustudio).
And the Realtek mod is not anymore detected :

And I don't understand why ALCapsViewer shows me that EAX 5 is not supported, I don't know if that is related to the fact that this Asus package thing is not activated (that's possible but on XFI MB1 there is no need to activate to use the EAX effects) (and this MB 2 seems to use a new license system witch is more vulnerable cause I could open the thing with no complexity) :

Didnt look in to X-FI MB2 that much yet, outside taking few newer version apps from it. Thing about moding X-Fi MB2 is, it apears its more then just moding drivers at least i tryed that few months ago (it wasnt full x-fi mb2 package back then, but only thx trustudio) on some realtek soundcard and it didnt work. I didnt bother to much with it tho, since i dont personaly have mobo with that soundchip. But fact it first step would certanly be to make it work on some realtek or via unsupported chip, since drivers for them exists just probably theere should be moded... Main issue is, non existant drivers from soundmax for ANY chip that would support x-fi mb2 (aka thx trustudio).
EDIT: about other thing, comunication between drivers and X-FI mb2 goes thrue certain dlls in DRIVERS called APO (Audio Processing Objests). X-FI MB is using dlls from creative in those drivers and x-fi mb2 is using dlls from thx. This dlls are basicaly function calls between drivers and software package and like i said, there is no compatible drivers and thx apo for soundmax and its unlikely that dlls from realtek or via will work.
Hello, Realtek driver is already released (R2.49), and the ECS P55H AK motherboard is delivered with XFI MB2 and the audio drivers (that I just downloaded) include all the THX keys.
I don't know for Sound Max
I tried to change things in the R2.49 inf but I don't see how to load the THX ini instead of the realtek normal one. How can I mod this normally ?
Solor i tried to install the modded sound drivers you have, but i get the error that are not supported for my system. :// ??? (win7 64bit)
I tried to put the second and third part of drivers over the Soundmax driver that worked for my system but nothing happened.
in order to get dolby or dts for my z-5500 i need those modded drivers yes? cause i tried with normal ones and i had only stereo through coaxial and no dolby or dts with my mkvs
This drivers do not support dolby/dts encoding. Only way (i think) to get those is if "source" is encoded in those formats and you are using spdif. But since i dont have this kind of setup i cant be sure...
I finally fixed my BSOD's i was having, Win7 needs 1 notch more vCPU after i did that i've been rock stable for weeks
I have 5.1 speakers, is that normal using this modded drivers when I attach headphones + microphone I have to change from 5.1 to Headphones? Shouldn't it change automatically?
I plug in front panel too.
Anyone running this board with q9650 + F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI successfully 4ghz or over?
I got a ud3p just in case. What are your opinions for this board vs ud3p?
hm not sure... first of all it depends on type of a frontpanel, if frontpanel is "hd audio" compatible or ac97 copatible... if its ac97 then it cant work because of techinal reasons... if its hdaudio then it depends on drivers and software and considering my frontpanel is ac97 i never tryed how/if this works as it should, but my guess is that original soundmax drivers with hdaudio frontpanel should work for sure, but question is if creative software works as it should and i dont know if it does...
I don't know how I have it connected, but I'm sure that from the front panel comes one wire with 2 plugs one is hd and the 2nd one is ac97 afair. So when I change from AC to HD it should detect headphones correctly?
Also I think something is broken in this drivers, when I change few times from 5.1 to headphones and vice versa I get some strange problems, like I play SC2 with Teamspeak and Headphones set and when I alt+tab to windows and for example start watching some movie on youtube I have no sound. Only way to bring sound back is to exit sc2.
Sometimes youtube movies play ok but I can't listen to music using foobar or wmp - getting some weird errors.
Well afaik one of the difference between hdaudio and ac97 is hdaudio have additional contact that shortcuts when you plug jack in to frontpanel and thats how it suppose to get detected, so only changing in bios wont help unless you have correct type of front panel. But as far as i know, you also need to reinstall drivers when you change this setting in bios. I personaly cant experiment with this, because of lack of hdaudio frontpanel :(
I'm not sure how I have it connected and what I have set in the bios - will let you know tomorrow.
@ Alien Grey
Can you please post 4.185Ghz and 4.05Ghz bios settings?
Thanks,
You can find everything you want to know here: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us
So SoLoR I've checked and I have front panel conncted via HD plug and in bios I have set HD. Any idea?
where is this tREF setting? I cant find it and i have the latest bios on the asus support site.
@spy2520
tREF is only avalibale in bios 0001, there's a post in this forum from SoLoR that has a download link
that doesnt help you figuring out if frontpanel is actualy compatible with hdaudio :) so unless you know for a fact that is or you can test it with some drivers you know that should support autodetection... You could try original soundmax drivers (not x-fi one) i think they should support but im not sure... i know realtek supports this kind of thing, because it works on my brothers computer...
Here: http://store.antec.com/Product/enclo...5-81830-8.aspx is written that case supports HDA/AC97.
Then i guess it supports hdaudio... I still dont know if adi drivers are working with x-fi software to manage this. I know that drivers them self do have certain option for detecting and it might properly work with original driver, but regarding x-fi i dont know... this is not exact science, unless you are programer with a source code. Its more trial and error and since i personaly cant try it i cant know if it should work or not...
Today mic was working fine, when I attached it, it was working ok but when I checked the creative console launcher it was still saying that I have 5.1 setup - dunno should it automatically change to headphones.
