Performance under 100% incompressable writes seems fine ... though a bit slower then the normal 46% compressable run.

That's really not bad on the velox. The Mushkin only did 90mbs with incompressible data. That's only 20mb/s less a second than the super sexy Vertex... And the SF probably has a lot more overhead with incompressible data.

I have been reading this through in an attempt to learn more about the subject. Ordered a 520 for the real world test. Found OCZ performance upgrade that might be interesting or it might be old news. :shrug:

Thanks all for the effort being put into this.

The upgrade is the Arowana FW for SATA II Indilinx Barefoot drives like the Original Vertex and Agilities , but only ones with 34nm Intel NAND.

I also tried the new 502A SandForce Ref FW, and while this drive needs a SE badly, results are pretty good.

Looks like my velox v30 has life time throttling.

May require resting this drive for a few months :/

That Samsung is in a real hurry to die...:D

I've decided to remove the silicon power velox v30 from endurance testing due to life time throttling. I'll find some other use for the drive.

Recovery rate for the drive is less then 5gb an hour, and it clamps speed down hard to less then 10 meg per second.

Anvil: if you want to record this on the first page to show others this drive suffers from life time throttling, that is fine, I'll post a final total this evening before the drive went lazy.

Now I need a new drive to test ... maybe the intel 330 when it comes out.

This drive's endurance test is being retired due to LTT.

^ Interesting. The Vertex did not throttle until around 30TB from recollection, so the warranty duration setting must have been different with the Velox. Thanks for testing. :up:

I'll have to find some other poor drive to sacrifice, and write velox v30 on it :)

The Samsung has been putting in lower speeds for a couple days now. It doesn't break 306MB/s really, and avg speed is holding steady at 275MB/s, but it dips down quite low at times.

I thought it would stop after most of yesterday, but it hasn't.

Hmmm, can someone explain how to use the md5 feature of the endurance test?

I've ticked the tickbox, but It just always says 0/0 in the MD5 box?

I do need to get this working soon, as the Intel 520 is nearing the end of its specified NAND wear. In addition, I should already be running MD5 on the torqx 2 ... given how dodgy that controller is :)

Any chance of a graph to show how write speeds are fluctuating? :D It should be possible to determine the amount of data written between the poll period on the SMART logger to then calculate an approx. MB/s. :up:
