Today i stumbled upon some Cheapo DDR2 modules.
They were Dynet make DDR2 533 CL4 Rated 512MB Modules. They were quite cheap for around 2250-2300 [ 48 $] for 512MB and come with 3 years warranty. :)

Well, the sticks are from Dynet and so are the chips saying so but CPu-Z says something different, :eek:

Well here are some screenies and results,
I used cheapo Asrock AM2NF6G Mobo with X2 3800+ ,this board has 4 steps of Vdimm options - Low,Normal,High,Ultra High. Thats it,so unfortunately i dont know how much VDIMM is provided at each level. I used Ultra High for testing. ;)

I wonder if Scan customer services will be able to tell us.
Scan arent my fav people :nono: they always mess with my orders :p: or forget to state items not in stock etc.
But at that price it's worth sending them back if they arent the right ones :cool: if i had a system to test them
in i would snap them up and let you know but im still using a good old socket a system until i get some cash.
Ps, I still order from scan :rolleyes: i cant help it, it's the smell.
Maybe I'll have to buy one stick and see if its D9GKX, then buy another if it is.

I was about to place an order for my first self-build system, but thought i'd do a little research on the Corsair Twin2X2048-6400C4 that i was thinking of ordering (based on it being a good brand/Anandtech recommend). Other RAM also being considered as an alternative was the Geil GX22GB6400UDC 6400 Ultra.

Okay, i was going to purchase the Buffalo Firestix FSX800D2C, and asked for confirmation from Buffalo support about the IC on their RAM.
Buffalo replied
However, Handle's post (posts 45-48) in the following thread had images of these Firestix having Elpida chips.Quote:

While i'm making my first post here, are D9GMH as good as D9GKX chips, in terms of overclock performance?
Also is it true that the D9GKX chips that were once being used in many brands of PC6400 RAM, are now exclusively for PC8000+ sticks?
At current prices, PC8000+ sticks are out of my price range.:mad:
What about DDR3 coming along?
Being new to self-build, i will like to experiment with overclocking after the system has been assembled. This is my reason for going with quality overclockable RAM.
BTW, will probably go with the Asus P5B deluxe motherboard and Intel e6600 CPU.

Okay received an email from tech support at Buffalo USA as follows:
Just requested more information from Buffalo support on whether there's any way to distinguish between the Micron and Elpida Firestix, since they both have the same Firestix product code (FSX800D2C-K2G).Quote:

The DDR2 RAM list is somewhat correct. The incorrect part is where it states Elpida AG-6E-E (some).
Actually there was only one lot of Elpida based modules that went out around Oct or Nov 2006.
Other than that, everything we have ever sold has been Micron based.
