Hi
I have a question about the DFI Vcore mod. What's the function of the FB wire/connection and what resistor is that.
Sorry for the noobie questions, but I don't know much about this stuff. :(

Big Thx to you ;)
This should get my CPU stable on higher clocks :)
I only need better cooling (i already orderd a noiseblocker bad boy which will be modded for fitting on the pentium-m) and better ram.

some results super pi 4M and 16M?
I went to the post office today to pick up my dothan 1.6 + dfi dothan compatible motherboard.
So when I got home, I wanted to check it out offcourse, play around with it a little bit.
but it didn't boot.
I tried 3 different ram sticks
3 different videocards + onboard video
nothing else is hooked up (except usb mouse + keyboard via the ps2 connectors)
I cleared cmos
I tried with the fsb jumper on auto and 100mhz
the fans that are hooked up to the board spin up.
I loosened the cpu heatsink and just placed it ontop without bolting it down.
What else can I try?
it's not like I have a spare dothan or dothan mobo lying around...
:help: :help:
Oh, and a question :) :
Does the FSBjumper (auto, 100mhz, 133mhz) make any difference in overclockabillity or stabillity?
Sorry to hear that kristos, I can understand that with everyone threatening FX chips with their dothans (and Macci having one :D ) you'd be very dissappointed...Quote:

I'd recommend contacting DFI Tech Support about the possibility of RMAing it or perhaps pm anyone else here that has a DFI board (you'd find a few in this thread alone) if they encoutered similar problems.
Perkam
sounds like my AXP board. DOA. so yeah I had to RMA it.

Re install the processor. I had the same problem. Make sure you turn the screw on the CPU socket all the way to the locked position. It gets firm at half way.
Just started testing, vdim mod works well :) DFI board.
DDR520 with 3500EB 2.5-2-2-5.3.4V or so...check the DMM ;)
CPU is 1.6 that does 2.6@1.33V.
PCI vid card for now and no OS...testing continues.

bigtoe, that's holy freakin' awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weren't brave enuff to slip the OCZ DDR Booster in there? ;)Quote:

Regards the booster Fugger explained he now has to use the booster to get the board to boot a while back so i thought a 100k Pot was a better option ;)

thanks m8...more to come i hope
bigtoe, i'd like to see a few CPU/MEM benchies with that baby...Super Pi, Everest and Sandra CPU and Mem test would be really nice. And if you can snag a 6800 in there, then 3DMark01SE would be nice benchies to see =)....it is exciting times indeed!!!Quote:

No chance of anything 3d...sorry:(
I will do sandra and everest and pi etc as soon as the OS is loaded ;)
I did some last minute research, and may have found a way to prove that AGP lock is partially working. Just as the pci lock. In other words 66/33 = no lock. 75/37 and 88/44 works, but with occational hickups.
This is on tha Aopen board, using the 105 bios atm. 101a and 101c behaves in the same manner.
So the reason why the Ati cards fails earlier seems to be chipset/bios/driver related.
Well will check some more tonight, before i have to pack everything togheter and return it to the reseller tomorow.
someone can answer for my question? :)Quote:

I will probably have to do a Vcore mod..anyone got a nice easy mod with pics? Im after adjustability so removing the resistor is not for me ;)
Im still workin on debugging what i have here, for now i have disabled everything in bios and im using a pci vid card and 3com pci nic as i know the bus is at 33.3.
Seems the cpu just locks with cpu-z which points to an access violation maybe...
More as i get it.
1M was 32secs with these settings, the rest are valid for this config. 150x16 with ram at 200fsb.Quote:

Did it allow you still to set lower in bios or was the vcore fixed at the pin mod value?Quote:

Thanks :)
It's a fixed vcore mod. 1,6 volts it says here.
No, no, no.........
If you do the VID4 to VSS mod (as I did) it will give 1.59V @ 1.34V default BIOS setting, but setting the BIOS to a lower setting, like 1.20v will give a lower reading, maybe 1.45v....
So I'd suggest doing a VID4 and a VID 2 which I THINK gives 1.67v and adjust it in BIOS..........

Bigtoe,
I really like the Dothan stuff, my 1.7 does 2.7 with a Swiftech NB cooler, lol but the "glitchiness" with ATI gpu's is a serious downer....
I hope you can shed some light on it! And yeah, the clockgen is VERY buggy for me on the DFI. AND note the glitchy 150+ where the windows slows down and icons won't open then it blackscreens and gives a Display Driver Erroe upon reboot.

Since you guys here are on the cutting edge, please help me choose a heat sink for my 755 and AOpen board that is on the way. The thread is here. Thanks.
Charlie - may try replacing the clock crystal on the video card to see if that clears up the video issues maybe... test with a "dead" card first though of course.. :D
