I'll give it a try, thanks!

Testing that as I type this. :)
Thanks!
EDIT: So far so good. Ran a full test of 3dmark11 and actually got better marks by just setting to XMP mode. Also tested Unigine Heaven and AIDA64 stress test at the same time with no problems. Gonna try 3dmark11 again and then test it again later today on a cold boot.
Thanks Raja@ASUS, for pointing out... Rampage IV Extreme UEFI Guide for Overclocking.
I'm now, LinX stable @ 4.8gig oc. With 32gig MushKin BlackLine Memory @ 2133 frequency... :toast:
Addendum... I got so engrossed in the guide. I didn't notice who the author was.
Until now, so again thanks Raja@ASUS for one great guide...It was a boon to me...
Still don't have the stock 2011 kit from Watercool for my Heatkiller, and I've been using some bolts I picked up at the hardware store. First mount I did not like, as I think I did not have enough Nactua NT-H1 paste on it. Unfortunately, I used the last of it mounting the waterblock. I don't think the temps were that great, as I was getting low to mid 30's C stock idle temps.
I bought some new M4 x 35mm socket cap screws, unmounted the block and checked the spread on the Noctua paste. Did not look like I had enough on it, as there was about 1/4" to 3/8" on each edge of the IHS that did not get paste. Cleaned up the CPU, applied a more liberal amount of some Artic Cooling MX-4 compound I picked up at MicroCenter yesterday, then bolted the waterblock down with the new screws. I also decided to add a spare 120mm fan to blow air across the block, ram and VRM heatsinks. Temps dropped as much as 10C, so I fired up Asus AutoTune:

Not too bad for a quick shot at it. Idle temps are now in the mid to uppper 30's C. I probabl;y won't keep it this way, but just wanted to play a little.
After a light IBT run, I noticed cores 0 & 1 were up to 72C & 73C, while core 5 was only 59C. Do you think my mounting pressure is uneven, and if so, which corner do I need to tighten?
Waiting for new RAMs and a Mountain Mods case.
Tubes not so easy to be set in X79 layout.

Is there a new 0903 BIOS? I read on the HardOCP review that they were using it and had great success.

Hey folks, I have a P9X79 WS and it's working great except the CPU speed is stuck on full after overclocking.
It's running a 3960X @ 4.3 GHz (34x126.4) but it stays at 4.3 GHz at all times even with basically 0% CPU utilization. Enhanced SpeedStep is enabled in the BIOS but doesn't appear to be working.
Any hints?
BIOS is WS 0701.
Check first what power setting you are using in Windows; if you chose High perf. I can't recal what default is, but go in there, edit it, get to the processor min speed and make sure it isn't 100%, meaning it never drops its Px-states to lower speed/lower VID.
In the BIOS if you turned off Speed-step and the Cx states; that too will alter it.
That did it; thanks Dual. I forgot I had set High Performance during burn-in testing.
Yep...check Windows under Power Options. Needs to be at Balanced or Power Saver. Performance disables speedstep.
Help! What size screws fit the x79 socket!
It seems like they are M8 machine screws (in width) but the threads per inch of the m8 screws I have are not tight enough to fit. (and a second question is where can I buy these screws, local stores?)
Anything new on the Sabertooth BIOS front?
Still having issues with resuming from S3 on the 0802 BIOS. Can be quite annoying at times.
These are M4 threads.
You can get them at the local hardware store. Length will be your issues.
Our you can try these:

They work great for me.
Anyone here has an X79 Sabertooth and 8 x Corsair DDR3-1600C10 RAM combo?
I have it but I find that the BIOS sometimes report 60GB instead of 64GB. Someone told me increasing the VCCSA and VTT voltage can help. I did that and the frequency of RAM missing is reduced but still haven't gone away.
I find an Asus web page that seems to mention 64GB may require higher voltage:

Does anyone here have the same issue as mine? Can you fix it?? Thanks!

Excellent! Thanks, Raja!
