for some reason my gpuz is showing x8. how do i change it to show x16 in the bios?
its in the second pci-e slot from the top

duuurgh....ah my bad the gpu is in the wrong slot....slots 1 and 3 are x16 and slots 2 and 4 are x8
also figured out how to change it to 2.0 in bios
chipset - pci config - port #2 features - gen2 high speed mode - autonomous switch

yeah i just noticed that as well...in bios 801 channel A and B were set at advance 300ps..... now in bios 1102 there are set at delay 300ps and delay 150ps
what does CPU VDDA control again? after some long searching before I found out but now completely forgot :(
Could anyone explain why when i set in BIOS the memory timings 4-4-4-12, after reboot and enter on Vista, Overdrive, Everest and CPU-Z show me 4-4-4-10. :confused:
If i set 5-5-5-15 on BIOS, on Overdrive, Everest and CPU-Z show me 5-5-5-15!
I've this "problem" even if i change the bios settings to Ganged or Unganged mode!
In memtest+ 2.01, the timings are wrong! I've 5-3-3-21 (Bios 5-5-5-15) or 4-3-3-3 (Bios 4-4-4-12) and both said Single channel (even in Ganged mode selected on BIOS).
This is "normal"??? :confused:

Yes all the boards do that. if your in 800 mode its clocks that last number down by 2. if your in 1066 mode it clocks it down by 1.
so you can set your setting 1 or 2 higher then needed to get the rated advertised starting speed or just ignore it. like i do. i have never had any errors on the ram from it tightening the speed that little bit.

it's suppose to support 4 vga cards but i noticed that i won't be able to link more than 3 cards.
The space between the third & the fourth slot is too tight.
they will fit. but if your concered. want to make sure. get the coolest running ATI card there is and its single slot. Sapphire Toxic 3870. if your wanting 4850 or 4870. i have seen some pics dont have the links here. But im sure Sapphire will do the same for the 4800 seriers aswell. You could also do dual X2's. But single descrete cards is allways better not by much. But allways better, and why not if you have the slots to suport it. :)Quote:

I’m not sure if it’s the board, CPU, bios or what but I would start clocking and tweaking and work my way up till I find a stable setting, usually around 2800Mhz. Then When I start my pc up in the morning to continue it won’t post. Reset PC, enter bios and load saved OC profile, then won’t boot.
I have to start at stock settings again every morning!
Something of note is that I flashed bios to 1102 just before installing my phenom.

Are there any new settings.... e.g. HT Multi, the current NB-HT Speed setting in the 1102 BIOS doesn't apply any changes made to it... at least not when I've tried it...!!!
yes i did flash earlier and gave a quick overclock to see if any improvents and i saw none. I can run xp 32 at 3.0ghz or vista64 at 3.0ghz. above that i have way to much heat. did not have time to play to much, family came over.
Hi I flashed to it this morning as well.... nothing noticeable to report about it.... rally, no new settings or anything..
I havn't tired the NB-HT Speed setting yet to see if it will apply changes made to it... will try it later on...
Other than that it seems the only way to increase the HT speed is by increasing the Ref HTT.
I'm currently using the CPU Multi to OC, so maybe I'll lower the CPU and NB multi's and try increasing the Ref HTT to increase the HT Speed as well...
I'm thinking a HTT of 240Mhz with a NB Multi of x10 will give me a 2400Mhz HT speed and 2400Mhz NB Speed, and on a x12 CPU Multi should put it at 2.88Ghz for the CPU...
Though I'm not sure if the mobo will take to kindly to this...LOL...

Thanks for the Vantage score.... I thought thats how it would look TBH.... vantage is less CPU dependent than 3DM06, thats why your score is a little higher than my 3DM06 Score, because of the extra CPU clocks 3.2Ghz compared to 3.0Ghz...
In Vantage this isn't aken into account AS much.... which is where the newer 48xx series takes over and shows that it performs better than the 3870X2....
I wonder if you can add a compare URL for it.... I like to look at other results to see if there's any areas I can improve on....!!!

In a vain attempt to get out 3.2Ghz range I created my own water/ice cooling system
I cannibalized parts from water systems I had, plus parts I found and made.
Pump: Laing D-5 12v
CPU Cooler: From TT Big Water 760is kit
Reservior: Danger Dan 2 bay unit
NB Cooler
I found a use for MEMPIPE,well part of it.
I removed MEMPIPE from holder and replaced it with a loop of 1/4" copper tubing.

Camping Cooler: Coleman 36 Quart
Rad in the camping cooler is from a mini fridge that was scavenge from scrap metal dealer behind my work place.
On air with Zalman 9700 my temps were in high 50's C at 3.1GHz
With this set up and and couple bags of ice the temps are 25-30 C
But even with the lower temps I couldn't get it stable past 3.3Ghz
Right now I suspect it's NB/L3 cache speed and voltages causing staibility problems.

Hmm is it just me or have you got the water flowing from the NB into the reservoir, and the pump drawing from the reservoir, by-passing the submerged radiator partially as it seems you are drawing/pumping water from/to the resrevoir and radiator ant the same time........
Shouldn't you have the NB outlet pipe connected to the radiator inlet valve and the radiator outlet valve into the resrevoir.... for a closed loop.... so that the all the heated water is dfirst pumped through the radiator BEFORE returning to the reservoir...
In that pic it look as though you got the heated water from the NB going into the reservoir before is passed through the radiator...so the water is only getting partially cooled by the radiator...
Or am I missing something.... it just seems odd that theres 2 seperate feeds, if there were 2 seperate cooling loops each one contained wiht 1 for the CPU and one for the NB then I could understand it, but from what I can tell its a single loop thats sharing the reservoir, so the radiator is being partially bypassed by the heated water being returned to the reservoir before passing though the radiator...

It was a compromise
I split the loop after the pump
My first attempt was one continous loop(almost 20ft(6m)) with a pump from my Aquagate Mini pump but the flow was way too slow.
So I went with something I know works.
I copied the system from where I work.
We cool plastic from 400F(200C) to room temp 72F(22C) in 2 minutes using water cooling, just on a larger scale, there I have 9000 gallon reservior and 2 40 ton chillers(that can chill water to 55F (13C) at 120 gallons per minute)
It also is a split system that siphons off water from reservoir.
Once I left the pump the tubing sizes kept getting smaller and smaller. Another lesson from work: same pressure but reduced opening equals less flow.
Reservior to pump:3/4"
pump to CPU block:3/4" to 1/2"
CPU to NB: 1/2" to 1/4"
NB to cooler rad:1/4" to 1/8"
The rad in the cooler reduces to 1/8" tubing, it would put too much restriction on the loop.
The split loop provides plenty enough cooling to keep the temps down.
Running one continous loop actually ran hotter because of the reduction of tubing size through system.
