What are the two mobo temperatures that the Systool is showing? The other one seems rather high on mine, somewhere around 60 degrees celsius...
Hey guys, just wanted to add somethign on the fly, I`m using a P5B-E, with E-6400 and some noname Apacer 667 5-5-5-15 memory.
I`ve tried overclocking my rig in every possible way, disabling everything, to no avail. Leaving the memory at AUTO and the FSB at 333 even resulted in the memory running at 814 MHz, wird thing, 6 GBps mem read...
So... I set 6-6-6-18 for maximum chance of ocing, it wouldn`t boot at FSB 333. Set the timings for the 667 mem to 5-5-5-15, FSB 400, and voila, it is working!!! Lowered all the voltages and it is still working! At almost mininum. SO did the chipset not like the loose timings? DId teh mem not like it? Dunno... But one thing is sure: i couldn`t OC at 6-6-6-18 and i can now at 5-5-5-15.
Cheers!
My BIOS wouldnt entertain 6-6-6 AT ALL...took a complete CMOS clear to fix it. Maybe the board doesnt like the number of the beast

I think it has something to do with PCIe (set at 96Mhz). When it occurs the 1X issue is almost certain to happen, then also if I up the VCore it will boot but no odds on 1X showing up.
AMI Beep code list says its a memory error but my timings, mem voltage and whatnot don't effect it at all.
Its o.k. right now, but I really want it fixed. Also, is there a performance hit running PCIe at 96Mhz???
it seems related to the CPU temparature.... :)Quote:

this started out to be such an informative thread.... Now, ..... :(

That's because the OCZ support forum was moved...Quote:

Can we get a general summary?
400Mhz FSB at stock multiplier (disregarding X6800 and QX6700) along with the highest memory speed possible = best performance unless you can go 500Mhz +?
Tony, I have noticed that you mentioned that the northbridge straps have an affect on memory performance and limitations. I feel like I have gotten a pretty good grasp on this whole concept, but I am still confused on how northbridge latencies affect memory performance and how high memory can clock. The northbridge's FSB is calculated by the CPU's FSB and multiplier, not the memory...
Thanks!
Intel architecture means the Mem controller is integrated inside the chipset/northbridge. If that isn't clear enough, Chipset is the bridge for Data to transfer back and forth between memory and CPU (most important linkage) , so NB latencies affect the whole system stability.
ThanksQuote:

hi to all! i'm Ruben from italy. I have a p5b deluxe and two 250gb sata2. I would like to know where to connect those hd. I know that there are difference between red and black connector. I would like to know also how to set sata on bios and which driver install. i have read of ahci but i don't understand very well what is it. thank you for your help and sorry for my bad english
Guys I'm just trying to get beyond the 3,01mhz with my P5B vanilla board. Just need help. THis is all confusing!!!! .

BIOS:
FSB 500MHz
RAM 1:1 @ 1000MHz
CPU Voltage: 1.450V ~ real load: 1.376V (vdrop)
RAM Voltage: 2.25V @ 4-4-4-12
FSB Termination 1.400V
Spread Spectrum OFF
NB Voltage 1.450V

Hi, Ruben (Phantom). Unfortunately, I am no expert either, but your Sata HD should work without any drivers. Just plug them in, but not in the JMicron slots. I set my bios to IDE which also controls the Sata. I believe there were issues with the JMicron Sata which required a software install. Perhaps a knowledgable person will comment. Good Luck Ruben in getting your computer running!Quote:

I think you are doing pretty well already, but you are running at near stock cpu voltage (1.33v), so you will be unlikely to o/c much higher unless you boost your cpu voltage. You might try setting the vCore (cpu) to 1.475v, for instance, (which may be only 1.4v at the cpu, considering Vdrop.) For the C2D, Intel recommends a maximum of 1.3875v (actual), although many o/c'ers go much higher. Also your ram voltage (vDimm) could be boosted to 2.1v, fairly safely, which will help system stability. I would leave all other Jumperfree settings in bios on Auto.Quote:

Any final word on where the bootstrap goes from 1067 > 1333 > 1600? 400 still the lucky number?
And did we find out if the newer BIOS's changed this number?
