depends @ ur cooling. water ?? Air ?? phase ?? each chip needs different vcore. u have to sort it out by urself, but some chips r stable @ around 1,41 vcore, others need 1,45 up to 1,5 vcore.. as said.. depends @ ur chips and need to be tested.
but with bsod 101 it seems that it needs more vcore.
Spread spectrum, is normally something every OC guide tells you do disable!
On my MIVEZ, it says the exact opposite of above, i.e. disable (in actual bios hint) to OC BLK which you are not going to clock much higher due to IGPU bus speed!
There sure seems a lack of sensors in these Mobos assuming "Motherboard Temp" is same old sensor that basically is temp of ambient near CMOS area, where is the Chipset (PCH) and VRM temps?
I had SB/NB/VRM/CPU Socket temps on my MFII
SpreadSpectrum is sometings suposed to reduce EMI radiation. Quite useless IMO.
I need help guys... just started setting things up today, and without windows even being installed i got cpu over-temperature error (87C from cold boot). I thought it was just a weird bios glitch so i disbable cpu temp monitoring and install windows, however when i check realtemp.. i'm idling in the high 50s to 60s which isn't normal since i have everything @ stock including all the energy saving features. I get out my dmm and measure voltage from cold boot to windows loaded... it goes from initial 1.1v to 1.22v which is normal, i also check with a dmm load voltage which is 1.24v. I don't get what could be the problem? I'm on 1850 currently... i need help :(
EDIT: when i did a stress test... i got all the way up to 98C :(
i have no idea what the problem is :(
here is a ss with it extracting ai suite which places very minimal load... ambient is 5C (opened window) since it was getting way to hot without lower ambient

Update... kept hsf the same and flashed the bios to 1598. it's now showing normal temps.
works for me
Anyone on here tryed 1902 bios how does it compare with the rest!
I just updated to 1850 and its working fine.
4500mhz
1.35v bios, 75% LLC
1.344v under load. LinX
I didnt had time to see if my chip can go lower for 4.5ghz, have it for ~4days and time is something i dont have. This new bios is mostly for my Ram cause the one that came with it dont liked my 1.35v 1600mhz CAS8 ram. Ill try to tweak my Ram as for now.
Wont boot with any lower than 1.40v on the memory. Nothing really bad but well ... this mem is on the QVL. Its better than my stock bios that didnt boot under 1.50v on memory.
Gskill ECO 2x4gb 8-8-8-24 @ 1600mhz with 1.40v
1902 i bad bios,best bios 1409,next is 1850
only difference between these two is the bios
1850

while I agree that bios 1902 has some issues it does very well with 01, even though I could not recommend it for a 24/7 user
1902 bios seem fine for me had no problems running 2600k at 5ghz 1.38Vcore 2166Mhz 6-10-6-27 timing! Seems a really stable bios!
Any idea why I can't change bl:banana::banana::banana::banana: via RC tweakit ( all other settings liek multipliers, voltages,... work ) TurboV works, so it's some soft issue or a thing I overlooked ( I hope ) This happens on 1303 and 1902 bios
Any ideas ??
is anyone using 1598? i'm using it but i haven't used any other bios so i can't compare
not sure if it's good or not
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the mIVe-z but my current soundcard is Fatality PCI so I either get a new one or live with the onboard Realtek... I never used the little SupremeFX PCIe x1 unit from my mIIf P45 'cause the Fatality card sounded better. How is the sound on the mIVe?
Thanks!
Im at 5ghz with 1902

Sorry a bit OOT:)
I just got its brother Asus CH5 Formula (preping for AMD FX cpu) and really like it....Easy 2100 7-6-7-20 which is the first time for me. Lol
what was that "skew driving voltage" for?
sorry i dont know :(
like an offset?
M4E will support the new Intel 22nm cpus ?
thanks andre.. i'm trying for 108 myself.. on my ud7 i ran 106.5blck 24/7... you think 108 24/7 is possible without running into any issues?
EDIT: most i can get on this is 105.5 with skew driving voltage @ standard 1.04 and blck skew @ -10 :(
bios 1850
cheers
my UD7 B2 does 107x but never tried for 24/7
keep trying on the mive
here's some nice guide for ya

thanks! as i read the guide... i knew what i did wrong, i was just plugging in settings without slowly easing into it. So i did what i had to do with my ud7... went up in blck by .2 each time, reboot do the same thing until i got to 106.5. Old ud7 would revert back to old bios settings from cold boot though... hopefully this doesn't.
Used skew driving voltage: 993
blck skew: -12
Will keep trying to push it.
Appreciate your help andre :)

@ badatgames
here is an older screen shot of 107.6 with voltages that might help you, it is not really efficient as I was just trying to see if the mems would run 2000 6-8-6.
http://i.imgur.com/bPZqk.png
that was on water and with no tweaking of any of the bclk skews / driving voltages, so I imagine 108ish is doable with some work, at least on that chip.
Guys I just got my hands on this board and a 2600K . I have a couple of questions which bios is best for the highest 24/7 stable overclock? also I have noticed two four pin molex headers on the board but on the Quick Start it does not tell you to attach anything to these headers?? Are you guys attaching 4 pin molex connectors to them or not?? and what are they for ? Do they improve stability etc??? Thanks for your help.
first two ram slots died :(:upset:
the second two work, but don't belong to the same channel. stupid condensation!!!:mad::mad::mad:
anyway it will magically work again if i leave it alone for a while?
How do i explain this to asus :(
Thanks for your help Sergio. I have a Corsair 1200 so should be fine without those molex.
I'm still having a bad time trying to understand this...
I used an "old" 4Gb 16000CL6 PI kit, at 2133 7-10-7-27 1.65v because I thought they were faster then the 8Gb kits... but...
4Gb 2133 7-10-7-27 1T
http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/9823/4gb.jpg
8Gb 2133 9-11-9-28 1T
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2610/8gbx.jpg
My question is WTF...
Load voltages are ~1.392v
it is completely dry now, it was always dry, at least it seemed to me... still the same thing :(
yes... but i do turn it off at night. I let it dry in my room for a day, and i just came back to it today... still the same thing. Q LED DRAM lights up and i get a black screen with post code 38. Only works with channel B1 and B2 but they are different channels so it will only run in single channel mode. :(
Called up asus for rma, but sticker isn't on the darn motherboard and only on the box. (i don't think i should have told them that) so now the customer support guy needs to ask his supervisor on what he can do. Already has been rma'ed before by it's previous owner, i was willing to pay for them to fix it, but they might not because there is no sticker on the board :shakes:
Seems like i am sol
What sticker Bad?
Did you try the usual battery out, reflash bios etc.?
I know this is being lazy but Sergio or one of the guys with a Linq stable 5ghz+ clock post their bios settings for me to start tweaking from please!!! lol
no problem friend

Mine 's very near andressergio's I use a slight less vCore ( 1.415v for 4C8T and 1.385v for 4C4T ) and a bit more vccIO 1.1125v, I also tend to use vPLL at 1.65v.

Thanks for this mate much appreciated. I will test these settings out tommorrow and tweak. I am looking for linx stable do you ever use linx?? I have 3x 580's for Tri so the performance should be great in games.
You see any improvement in clocks / Temps with HT off?
HT off will give you slight less temps ( you can also diminish the volts a bit with it off ). THe difference wont be as near as it was with 1366, here it will be 1/2ºC and something like -0.025v. For LinX see my post, but be aware there aint a lot of CPU's doing that :p
Thanks stoned I will start at these settings you guys are suggesting!!! did you need new Linq definitions for those tests mate. My linx works great on Gulftown but have not tried on Sandy yet.
There is not alot of CPU's linx stable at 5ghz?? evan with higher Vcore?? May as well leave HT on then!! for that small trade off!!
would you guys like to see a physical review of the gene-z? like my GB reviews? i have a gene-z i was thinking about doing a physical review on it and posting it. would anyone be interested? or is it a waste of my time?
"physical" review to stike again. Ohnooes :)
keep awesomeness on GBT :)
x10 probe not x1. Also most of your ripple screenshots appear to be noise instead of ripple. Trigger the scope on the switching frequency of the circuit being measured and I think you will find this to be the case.
HELP!!!! hi guys whatever I set as the multi in bios when I get into windows the BLK has dropped accordingly so my 2600K never goes 3.4 ghz. CPU-Z reports this. I have flashed to 1850 as many suggest thats the best option but still the base clock drops evan when running something intensive its 3.4??? what am I missing to get BLK to stay at 100??
Use the latest version of CPU-Z and re-check (do not use any other software at the same time that polls the SM bus). If the issue is still happeneing, save UEFI screenshots to a FAT32 formatted flash drive, convert the screenshots to jpeg and upload them here so we can see your settings. Only other thing I can think of is that you may need to use BIOS flashback (try using the other BIOS chip on the board first and see if the issue persists).
-Raja
Hi yeah it was the version of CPU Z thanks!!! Just another quick question which version of Linx do people use for this CPU?? or which definitions as my GFLOPs are well out when testing.
Use the latest version and make sure you on using service pack 1 with Win 7.
-Raja
WHich version is this I think I am but its not giving correct results. Do you have a link????
Set it to use all memory, use Google to find out the rest.
-Raja
Here is the link to the latest version taken directly from the LinX Thread:
LinX (0.64) 10.3.6.010
http://www.mediafire.com/?cict9u8jki7wps2
Guys I just used that version of linx testing with 8 threads at 5ghz and only got very low GFolps. The prodessor is not throttling as I had CPU-Z etc open all the time. How do you guys get the tests done so fast and with such high numbers?
Whats the latest bios? 1902? Haven't seen a new one in quite awhile
Hi,
No I dont have SP1 installed. Does this make a diffreence to Linx???
i wasn't going to use the scope, and i can get enough info to see the difference between different VRMs.
I know 10x not 1x, but then i don't get down to a fine enough resolution(like 10mv), but i do have two probes, one set and calibrated on 10x and one at 1x. I know what i am seeing is mostly noise as well, ripple alone doesn't look so :banana::banana::banana:ed up lol. But i am using bandwidth limit at 10mhz. I only use the scope to compare, not to say either way.
BTW Tin, i got close to your results, maybe a bit more(~10mv) ripple with the UD7, I am guessing it was caused by noise, as my scope seems to love toe pick it up.
Hey Tin would it make you feel better if i put my tektronics hand-sanitizer pen next to my scope, would it make you feel better? lol
I was only going to do a physical review, i wasn't going to do benchmarks. Now IDk if I should do it, i have already messed with the board I actually like it. Only thing i don't like is how I don't have to click to select somthing in the BIOS, is there a way i can turn that off? Like turn off the hover=click feature?
As a pretense Raja, i am not looking to review your boards like i do GB, I just figured id review this board if i have time, i don't just review b/c i am sent products, i enjoy doing them. I am also not going to go rip your board apart and start talking :banana::banana::banana:, I might not necessarily love your boss, but I do like your boards.
P.S. i think itd be nice to add content to my site as well.
honestly I commend your extreme detail on all of your physical reviews, you seem to cover a plethora of the actual components that actually make up the motherboard and what they actually do etc. . ., however I don't think a benchmark focused review would necessarily be a bad thing in this case, especially since the Gene Z is very competitive on the 3D level to the Giga boards, just my 2c.
yea i mean what would i compare it to that doesn't have NF200? i don't just have the whole GB lineup sitting right here lol.
The fact that you LOL when caught out shows how nonchalant you are about being honest unless pushed to do so :shakes:
Good, I'd rather if someone was posting ripple measurements that they were actually ripple measurements and not spurious noise. As I've said before, readers think you are doing something great, but if its not technically correct its a case of the blind leading the blind and those poor guys don't have a clue what they are seeing is wrong. It bothers me because it spreads misinformation as fact, undoing the work that people put into eradicating myths in the first place.
I no longer comment on your GBT reviews as I now work for a vendor. If however it's an ASUS review, and stuff gets posted up that is technically incorrect I will interject - and its better for you if that does not happen. Keep it real and review away. :)
Just compare clock per clock with what you have at your lab mate. From my personal point of view this board is the best all round board now... With the newer 01 biosses (thanks to eVGA :p --> I will get shot at for saying this probably) GB lost their only advantage. Clock per clock this is the most efficient board... Bclocking action is solid, voltage regulation is pretty spot on... a benchers delight...
For 24/7 users there are cheaper alternatives....
This is a slight fix for the error on 3dmark 2001 se when you try to view the results score. I also posted it at hwbot in the thread there.
You can double click the "details.txt"in the "C:\Documents and Settings\name\Local Settings\Temp" folder. and it will just open with notepad. You could also make a short cut of the "details.txt" to your desktop. And then just double click the "details.txt". As it would be faster then manually browsing and opening it. I haven't had time to test to see but when you restart 3dmark 2001se, it should clear the old details.txt results.
If it doesn't work like that. I wrote a quick .bat file to delete the file for you.
Paste this in notepad and change the your name to the correct folder name.Quote:
DEL "C:\Documents and Settings\your name here\Local Settings\Temp\details.txt"
Once you do, name it and save it as the 3dmark 2001 clear text.bat.
This will then clear the results after you view them. But in order to still use the shortcut "details.txt", you will have to click the "show details" on the benchmark. This works great if you are going to just leave open 3dmark 2001se and keep doing test. As this is what will generate the new details.txt to be able to read it using the details.txt shortcut.
It is a 3 stepped progress but it does work. Perhaps i will try to do a vbscript tonight. Or someone else might be able to do it faster. As i just wanted a fast fix. Thanks
P67 M4E, haven't tested the Gene Z yet sir...
i only have the gene-z. Its a cool board tho, pretty cheap and that is good about it.
