Shes ugly, thats my opinion, get over it.

The realism of new ruby trumps nvidia floating head guy :)
Can't wait to play half life 3 when alex looks this good
I'll leave it to you to find out her number -:)
Real Ruby?
I think that's just a bad angle of the Ruby model (how realistic, even computer generated models now have "bad angles" :p: ). If you look at this video, she looks great - http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/video/...ml/17.flv.html
^^ Exactly,in the video she looks much better :). I was amazed by the level of detail in the video,it's nearly as good as real life Ruby(if she existed :) ).
I wouldn't call her "beautiful", but she looks like an accessible and inretesting girl. imho
(Ruby, I mean)
Just got to love the "shes ugly!" attitude. People are having quite damn high standards. :D
...or mine are sub par. :(
I wouldn't think she beautiful either. More so just average, really average. Not ugly but nothing to make her stand out. Ruby as a game character was never really hot(considering the competition).
Seriously who cares what the card art is like - they're NOT REAL! Talk about the cards and their specs for a change :/
ha ha can we keep this on topic expecially considering most of you are ugly-fat or just to geeky to pull hot a55
I think I might be cpu limited, I got 97fps in resident evil 5 1920x1080 max details 8xAA, the 5850 is getting like 95 :(
cpu is a i7 965 at 3.2ghz
pfff nothing yet.
Either this is way overhyped or it's going to be a fantastic card, I'm sure it will be the latter. :D
Thats somewhat of a unreasonable request and criticism. Not everyone has dual monitors, and from what i can imagine, this guy has a 1920*1080 monitor. I can't see him pulling out dual 1920*1200 monitors out of the blue.
This card should do single screen gaming very well since thats exactly what is was designed to do.
Actually I had a 30inch display but it busted, it's in the shop now :( Going down to this sux, once you get used to 1600p you just can't go back :(
Seeing as how you most likely had a boost in score due to PhysX and those results for Cypress are FAKE, have fun with your premature conclusions.
I agree, looking forward to peeling the stickers off my 5870.
Hairdryer + tweezers does wonders.
I tested out DMC 4 maxed at 1920x1080 8xaa16xaf with the 5870 and my stock clocked i7 965 and got the following
scene 1 162.78
scene 2 123.86
scene 3 221.67
scene 4 118.59
Ran it twice and got pretty much identical numbers, i think these are higher than the ones amd posted on their graphs. Anyway Im sticking to things i can easily dl and benchmark as I dont have much installed right now, so if there are any other games like RE5 and DMC4 which have a demo/benchmark you can dl and run LMK and I'll try to run it for u.
do some 3dmark runs! it would be nice to see 3dmark2001 se, 3dmark03, 3dmark05, 3dmark06 and 3dmark vantage scores!
i (we :p:) count on you ;)
btw: why do you have that card if you don't even have games etc to bench it with :D
if i had one of these babies i'd bench it with tons of games in no time :D
There is a strange spot for sure!

3dmark 06 is a quick and ez free download. Thanks for running those benches. Get 3dmark 06 here (580mb) http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/3dmark06/download/
It would be nice to see 3d01 and vantage too.
Yes. Also I believe, 99% sure anyway, that the longer card is the REAL length of the card..the other card is photoshopped down version.
You can see the shine off the plastic along the whole bottom edge of the card, just below the so-called 'sticker', you can clearly see how uniform the lighting is. It goes from light(near the front) , to dark(near the back).
On the longer card it looks uniform(so this is the normal card). On the shorter card the lighting is not uniform(this one was chopped down and condensed).
Also, those aren't stickers, neither of them. They are just photoshopped on as well.
Ok, now that we solved that we can move on to other things. ;)
Thanks for confirming my previous assumption postumus... Full AA at 1920x1080(people, quit acting like this isn't high enough resolution for testing) in crysis still isn't happening...
Ah well, guess I'm sticking to my 4850 and watching to see what NVidia shows up with.
Where'd he post his benches of that? I don't see them going back a few pages... EDIT found him commenting about it but no benches.
EDIT2: I'm running 2560x1600 with an i7 920 @ 3.72ghz HT on, wondering if I should try to push for more on the CPU since I'm probably going to go 5850 x-fire  .
Check out the Arma 2 demo, there are several locations to download from, including steam and a torrent.
It has a benchmark built into it, and it is quite a demanding game.

Reality. Check.
XFX offers you the ultimate reality check with the new XFX Radeon™ HD 5870 and 5850 graphics processing units. Bringing three new dimensions to gaming reality, these graphics cards challenge the limits that have restrained your gaming. Until now.
First, ATI Eyefinity Technology literally broadens your horizons by enabling you to spread out across three displays at resolutions of up to 1080p. Use this “wrap-around” in-picture experience to become fully immersed in your gaming—or productively immerse in your work.
Second, ATI Stream Technology gives your system a significant boost by offloading tasks usually sent to your CPU to your GPU. The result is a more balanced gaming platform that can handle the demands of today’s fully immersive games.
Third, both the XFX Radeon HD 5870 and 5850 offer full Microsoft® DirectX®11 support so that you can push your settings to the max and still game at the highest resolutions. And, sure-to-make-you-blink 3D effects are generated through HDR Texture Compression, DirectCompute and Tessellation.
As John Lennon once said, “Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.” At XFX, we couldn’t agree more. Especially when you’re talking about the XFX Radeon HD 5870 and 5850 graphics cards.
Game on.

Cool, imma wait to see what nvidia has to offer, not like my current video card doesnt play all games maxed out. When thinking about it, enless you plan on playing DX11 only games, i dont see a need for new graphics cardd just yet, but i will jump on either this or the GTX 380, waiting to see which is better. Price for me doesnt matter, as long as one is better than the other.
I'm snagging 3d mark06 now, I haven't had it installed in ages, ppl still play 3dmark I see ;)
those DMC4 numbers are they good or bad? I havent seen the game benched on another card.
seems on par with the 4870x2 ....and then some

4870x2 scores at 1080p with 4xAA:

I am very suspicious of XFX. A lot of their cards use lower grade components and cut down heatsinks, which they mask with customer service. Given the choice, I'm going to buy another ATI brand next time.

ran it again without 16AF forced in CCC and got 22549 3DMarks, slightly higher ;)
Uhh I dunno bc I have 1, I could take pics of it running in my case with a piece of paper with a msg on it? or I could just take a screen shot from CCC or 3d mark where "5800 series" is displayed, you tell me.
thx for providing links for the various things to bench, I've only been playing heroes of newerth beta and have been totally out of the loop game wise, though I have kept up with the hardware news thx to sites like this 1 ;)
alright where is the easiest place to have it hosted? I've never done it before/never had a reason to.
I dunno. Like I've said somewhere else, failure rates for GPUs often follow bathtub curves - if it ain't broken in the beginning, as long as you don't push suicide volts through it it will stay in working shape for pretty much it's useful lifetime.
That's why I'd rather have a good card to start with, and if it fails in 30 days due to a QC error, I can express RMA with the retailer.
Try here:D
ok cool i'll try to do it tonight but I'm heading out soon to see my gf, I'll log on later though, in about 3-6hrs. ;)

write posthmus XS, snap photo throw on tinypic, get addy & post!
http://filesmelt.com is the best image host, ever.
Where did you hear about supposedly lower-quality parts, by the way, Cegras? I've never heard of that before on XFX cards... would like to read if you have any links.
My own card has the PULSE inductors replaced with "R51"s. If the XFX card has a non reference heatsink, it's a cut back one for sure. If you've seen the 4870 with the down blowing cooler, the chokes aren't even sealed.
The GTX XFX cards with those rectangular coolers? They're majorly cut down - barely functional.
I think I saw pictures from where someone removed the squareish cooler from a XFX nvidia card. It was cut down from the original nvidia spec'd heatsink.
But in any case, I apologize for throwing up drama. It's just that I'm quite unhappy with being 'burned' on my XFX 4870 experience. Details are somewhere on the internet, I assume.
I have a XFX 4850 1gb, and it's cooler keeps the card between 50 and 60c with the fan running 45-60% depending on the application... it idles in the low to mid 30's....
I don't know if this means anything, but 4870X2's aren't on NewEgg anymore. Perhaps they just sold them all.
that's the pic, thx for providing the link to the site, seems like it might come in handy
I think it's mostly my crappy k850i camera phone's fault, I do not live in squalor :D
actually I've improved my crysis warhead performance considerably, but I can't bench it, the benchmark tool i dled for it keeps crashing after the running the timedemo, during the time demo i'm getting 45-65fps though, and in gameplay it seems very smooth. I've kinda given up on getting that working though, doesn't seem worth the trouble with all these others benchmarks to use.
@Postumus
Is the card loud? Normal? Quiet?
How far can it overclock?
What's the brand name? On it anywhere?
Am not sure how you got the card , but thats nice !!! 22 k on 3d mark06 , thats screaming ! and thats on beta drivers .
Also there seems to be an identification number on the fan which you should have covered up or someone might get into trouble .
the card is kinda loud imo, but I've heard worse for sure. I can't see any options to oc it under CCC on these drivers, so no idea how far can it go, and it's ati oem.
Thanks for sharing postumus:up:
Can you also run 3DMark Vantage including all subtests (I know, boring) in Performance and Extreme presets please?
That would give us a lot of synthetic data to go with :)
Also your 3DMark06 run without 16AF forced gives almost the same score as mine 4870CF 850/1050 on Phenom II 4033MHz!! That's nice!
http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=819745
3d06 is going to be cpu limited, even with an i7 AFAIK...
Nice to see you being so helpful for the community postumus, and I'm sure you now are the object of quite a bit of jealousy here at XS.
If you have standard Crysis(not warhead), and a save game on the iced over part of the game(If you don't, I can probably send you a save from that level, or you could just use the console to load that level instantly IIRC), could you do me a favor and give it a run through with AA all maxed out? If that doesn't make the card choke, I think I might end up biting the bullet and buying one of these things.
I'll likely still wait for NVidia's card, just so I don't have to pay $399 for one, but it'd still be nice to see how well these cards handle that kind of stress.
to postumus, or anyone:
Are the core mounts the same as X1800, X1900, 3870, 4870 -will an HR-03 or maze4 fit?
AND:
IS the heatsink disposablable (like 4870) so the gpu can be cooled with hr03 while the rest of the card is covered by stock hsf?
I dont have crysis reg installed but I could , and ya i would need a save file to do that but sure lmk ;)
Dont i have to "buy" 3d mark vantage to run it tho?
Dunno if the fittings are the same, it's a pretty heavy card I can tell you that much so the hsf inside is likely larger. \
Uhh some1 earlier pointed me towards the NFS Swift demo, I dled and installed it, but I dont see anyway to bench it. That said I tried it at 1920x1080x16AFx8aa and it runs smooth as silk :D
if any1 knows how to bench NFS swift LMK otherwise I'm going to uninstall the demo, I only have 1 wd velicoraptor 300gb hd, that's not much space.
Someone give him a vantage key! If i had more than one it'd be yours :)
Well done man nice card
You could simply start a new game with Crysis. The 3rd cutscene is the C-130 descent scene, which is actually one of the most punishing scenes in game.
At 1920x1080 Very High DX10 (no AA/AF ), with a GTX 285 SSC and 4ghz i7 I was averaging probably 18fps in that scene. A 2nd 285 SSC brought that up to about 27fps.
If the AMD performance slides are correct the HD5870 should average around ~22fps on the C-130 descent. If it gets that high I'd be VERY impressed, considering a GTX295 probably gets no more than 23-24fps.
If you only have Crysis Warhead, I'd be interested on the lowest framerate you get on the intro scene as well as the smoke effects are pretty demanding on the system.
excellent.... (throws old hardware in trash)
oh wait i want the 2gb version...(goes to pick old hardware out of trash)
@postumus... thanks for all the effort...
you can be sure the whole community here on XS appreciates it...
btw if you get chance, i would love to know if this card can max out arma 2...
this game is extremely demanding on the gpu... (i think you need the patched version which has the additional aa settings...
thanks again my friend...
well no offence but you wont be getting any cards anymore :/ NDA broken and you left the Product number on the fan etc.. so they will trace it back to you :/
thats just the fan p/n jamesrt. it's the same on every card
I would like to thank postumus too... Really nice with some numbers, and i really doesnt hope he gets any trouble for it!
DMC4 Is CPU limited at that res.

hehe your welcome guys, this site provides many hours of entertainment, both the informative kind and the LMAO flame wars I sit back and watch. ;)
I'll snag vantage next, some1 linked to armma 2 o an armma 2 demo, but dunno now some1 is saying i need the patched version?
