I just tried my first Xigmatek fan with black sleeve and used black 3-pin MOLEX fan housings from MDPC-X. :up: I suppose result is good and shots below;

it seems like when i put the heatshrink on the PSU end it slid a little bit and you can see the wire showing a little bit, how can i prevent this?
yiannit, you could do layers.. as in: First, heatshrink on both ends where you would want your heatshrink, so yea.. first two small heatshrink pieces, then you pull on whatever sleeving you are using. Then, put on the second layer of Heatshrink. That should do it, and dont pull on it while its still hot, let it settle, and cool down before you do the other end of heatshrink.
I've found that this works for me atleast. As long as i let one of my ends cool down before i do the other end, i get a pretty ok result.
thank you viking. about how long should i wait?
Just started on the SG-05 300w PSU:

That's some nice sleeving
Cheers, this is the first full PSU I've done (just fans and other small bits before).
Waiting for some 4.8mm 2:1 heatshrink for the main 24 pin cable.
Got in from work to find this on my doorstep!!
Cant wait to start sleeving... back to work on the build... more pics soon
All thanks go to Nils, he's the man!

Hi, I got it from Chilled PC.
My Corsair 750W HX Sleeve ;)

Very precise work and in my opionion just the right balance between color and black. I think I would do the same :yepp:
Awesome job snow. Looks just like mine.

I am cutting the heat-shrinks with one heat-shrinkmodel (verry old :D).
I just hold the 13.86mm long model next to the uncut heat-shrink and then cut it with a pair of scissors.
Then I have to watch out, that the sleeving everytimes is exactly in the same distance to the pin.
to get everytimes the same length of the heat-shrink (on the sleeve) I hold one sleeved cablemodel next to the new one.
Just don't shrink the heat-shrink completely that you can correct the position ;)
Then it should look like this:
http://www.abload.de/img/sleeve2su5yb.jpg
I hope you understood
How does your sleeving hold tight all the time? I can pull out several of my sleeves on single wires all the time.. i practically have to "drag" it back, so that it atleast looks ok again.
Another thing i dont understand, is how the guy above me can get his heatshrink to hold when he is using that little heatshrink?
Hold the cable horizontal and the heat-shrink stays at its position...
To avoid that the sleeve and heat-shrink move you simply have to shrink over the pin ;)
Excellent work Xien, you should be really proud of the results that you have here mate.
Top quality

Nice sleeve job men
I've been dying to re sleeve my PSU cables individually like just about every photo in this thread, and after going through about 20 pages of photos, I have a feeling I'm going to be placing an MDPC-X order soon. After ordering my 5870 that is :)
Hell, probably a new PSU too. If I'm going to do it, might as well do it right, right?
I'm looking for someone to do some sleeving work for me if someone has some good credentials and is located in the stats please send me a pm. Its a rather easy job that involves some fans and power connectors and molex connectors.
I think fhantastic does that kind of jobs

On the Power cable topic:
http://www.abload.de/img/kabel9sxfnw.jpg
I sleeved into the new plug so that you only can see some millimeters of the heat-shrink...
http://www.abload.de/img/kabel10sxfam.jpg
A 7mm cable is no problem for the MDPC-X smallsleeve :D
what's wrong with PET sleeving?
lots of people dont like it in the smaller sizes *under 3/8ths in IIRC) because its 1x1 weave...whereas the MDPC stuff is 3x3...which is much tighter and harder to see through
that one is off-topic, but I'm sure you will be "shocked" a bit :)
One guy did it in 18s days, completely handmade PC CASE!

can you spray paint sleeving?
I tested it ;)
The result was verry bad, because the paint peeled off with every movement :D
I guess I'll stick with technoflex clean cut black then. I can't find blue that doesn't suck at 1.5"
Did you try Nils' sleeving??
MDPC-X
I can't buy the "big" size for the atx cable =( separately.
You can buy the tubing sleeve seperatly...
As I remember the size is the same ;)
Damn, Nils, great timing with these crimps, just AFTER i got my sleeves ;)
Some photos from my router cooling project...

Can anyone lend me an ATX pin remover? I just ordered all my sleeving and shrink for a shot at this, forgot the stupid tool. Promise I'll return it good as new soon as soon as I'm done.
Last time I tried the staple method while making some extensions, I ended up with quite a few staples in my thumb and vowed to never try that again.
Also, best tool to use for shrinking the shrink? I'm seeing a mix between heatgun and hair dryer. I'm afraid a heat gun might melt the sleeving.
BTW, looks like I'm the first one attempting this on a power supply with threaded connectors:
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...owerSupply.jpg
Wish me luck.
It's a pity that you don't want to try again with staples. My first few cables were nightmare, but now i can't visualize myself buying 30$ tool - there is no sense in that.
Hint: don't use your fingers to push the staple in, try small pliers (i use my girlfriend's pliers for jewelery making).
I never tried anything else than lighter. Some patience and you will be fine.

90 degrees would work better, though...
@Touge180SX this is Lian LI V2000B Plus II
I was thinking about sleeving some of my cabling on my Corsair HX620 and wanted to know whether or not 1/8" sleeving is what most people use to sleeve the individual wires?
And the same goes with 1/8" heatshrink as well?

thanks Nils for the sleeve :)
guys i was planning on ordering sleeving from mdpc-x. just was a bit confused regarding the amount of sleeving that i should order. i am planning on sleeving the corsair hx-1000 psu 24 pin power connector, 8-pin power connector, 4 pci connectors, and a couple of fans. the colour scheme that i have in mind is going to be red and black so is it possible for some1 to advise how much of each (red and black) would be enough? oh and i have 6 sata cables that i wont mind sleeving too so how much for 6 sata cables would i need. thanks:)
Get the amount like in here: http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sle...sleeve-kit.htm just change colours etc. And if possible get some extra small heatshrinks (more than is listed in this sleeve-kit). I sleeved my 3 SATA cable and still have plenty of both sleeve and shrink. If you're patient and skilled a bit you will be fine with staple, if you don't feel confident with that just get the tool.
thanks ddgh i have sleeved my psu before....used a real bad quality sleeve, i used a precision tool to get out the connectors before but this time i have ordered the tool. hope things will be quicker this time
with the corsair HX 1000 you will need staples as well because some off the pins are different and will not go out with the removing tool.
you can find the tutorial for the staple trick on the first page off this tread.
good luck
BTW: its not the removing tool that is bad(its great), but its the pins that cause the problem
Well, that's true that pins differ a lot. In my current Be Quiet E7 680W staple worked as a charm. In previous Corsair VX450W it was a pain in a*s to remove them, especially 6pin. Good luck!!
Sleeving experts.. I call for your knowledge again...
this cable is the power connector for a scythe fan controller. I want to remove the extension from this cable on the molex.. where it goes from male to female. I want it to simply be a male lead. How would I do this?
http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/7651/img0130ay.jpg is a huge picture of the cable.. let me know thanks!
As if it hasn't been said enough but, excellent guide.
Planning on tackling some sleeving myself.
Guys, has any one tried this one?
looks pretty dense...
Just got my mdpc sleeving in... thought i would toss up a couple of shots... not worthy really cause my camera sucks, but what ever... sleeve is for my 800D build.... the second pic i kinda went crazy on the burn...lol.... made the drawing pop tho... THANKS NILS!!! ;)

Follow up. Attempted unisleeving this weekend and ran into two problems.
1. My power supply's connectors are too narrow to fit the staples in. Tried using aluminum from a can and it barely fits into both sides, but is not strong enough to push the pins in.
2. 1/4" 2 to 1 heatshink does not shrink down enough to fit inside the holes.
Tips? Where to buy 3 to 1 heatshink?
Let me guess: Corsair PSU? I have no clue if ATX pin remover will be of any help if you can't fit there a staple.
You can order proper heatshrinks here: http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/hea...mall-black.htm (and it's 4:1;))
