Good one. A few more minutes and it would pass the kill-zone. ;)
Is this your good old #3848A352 or a new one? In case what's the tricks for such a low Vcore?

19*200MHz @ 1.200V LLC ON, p95, LinX stable and all.
Its the same 3848A352.
This run was with 6 mem mp 7-7-7-20, requires less vcore than 8 mp. Also I'v compensatet low vcore with slightly higher then needed vtt (1.3).
And by switching from air to water gives lower temp, requiring less vcore. A win-win situation :)

I see, interesting findings. Actually after playing with my CPU for a wile, I was expecting it to get stable @4.3GHZ(205x21) 1.24v. But even if it runs pretty much everything I use daily (and feels stable too) with 1.23v, but I couldn't get it Prime-stable before hitting 1.28v  Linx is much easier than Prime on my CPU too (but maybe it got something to do with my MB, I guess).
Uncore:QPI 1:1 both at x18 @3.7GHZ is running stable with VVT=1.21v(BIOS set) and therefore I didn't try the idea of trying higher VVT as much, yet. My MB has a tendency to over-volt the VVT too, and 1.21v BIOS set will report 1.28v in BIOS, and that's another reason for keeping the VVT at low volt.
But your findings are interesting, and I may soon get time to give a shot on higher VVT to see if it will Prime with lower Vcore with 12GB RAM at x6.
What's your Uncore, and what Vdimm are you using?
14x uncore and 1.64 vdimm. 30 min of LinX is about as hard as 2-3 hours of prime on this cpu/mb. Never got my DFI to play nice with prime (LinX was np), so I'v sold it.
Very nice looks like xeon good batches are the dominators of SKT1366 overclocking ... now the question is where you can get one of those apart from you (if)... tried to match that vcore and this is what i got from the i7 920 before the lovely blue screen ... looks like its also thirsty for water:D
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3592/87032847.jpg
Got few others too... but my hands are now eaching for a xeon 3848A352 ;)
You have a very good chip there imo, not that many can match yours. Even if you could find a brand new 3848A352 there is no quarantee that it is as good as mine - or it could be even better. I had two of these 3848A352, and the other one was aproximatly 50-70 mhz behind this one.
In a couple of months we will have i9, and maybe 32nm i7?, then the race is on again and everyone gets dealt new chips.
lol I think your absolutely right my friend i should be happy with this 24/7 settings beside its not the best setup im running on air ! :yepp:
Im not a pro overclocker either... ppl use chilled water phace change dominator gt classified days after days of tweaking and then comesup with little less vcore or a number around 5Ghz... ;)
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/922/4200t.jpg
I collected 5 great batches so far within the past 6 months.... sold 2 of my other batches to local mates ...
last one sold today 3845B (offer was too good to resist) and only two 3849B remaining one for me and one for...perhaps you...
They all are known to hit big numbers with proper setup. :yepp:
As far as I have manged to follow, 3845B027 is one of the best batches out there. But a good max 24/7 OC would depend on other components like MB, RAM, and even GPU too.
The PCIe or the GPU (I'm not sure which yet), seams to be making some problems when the CPU hits @4.3GHZ(205x21). I have been testing with several different settings, Uncore (14x, 15x, 18x), VVT from 1.21v to 1.32v, Vcore=1.23v to 1.26v, and x6 RAM, but it has always been giving BSOD 3 minutes into Prime (almost on spot every time).
It Primes easily @4.3GHZ for about 3 minutes with Vcore=1,23v and up, but then suddenly the GPU core clocks raises from 2D to 3D, and a BSOD follows right at the same time. It will only pass when the Vcore hits 1.28v.
I'm not sure yet, maybe it is the GPU (GTX 295), or maybe the PCIe ? or maybe even my 12GB "mixed" RAM?. But I'm still working on it and hoping :fight: if I find the problem then the CPU would run stable with less Vcore.
Imo, pimping your cpu's here with 16 min prime runs on a mb known for throtling is kind of dubious if you ask me. Why dont you use the for sale section ?
Yes had to let it go to save my friendship lol nevertheless 026 is almost in pair with 027.
GTX 295 is definately it reminds me of my 4870x2 holding back the oc...raised pcie a lot and ended up frying the hdd, mixed ram not an ideal oc setup, therefore your cpu has more potential...
This thread is about batches isnt it?
16min prime / linx is not that i post all the time you can look my previous posts in different threads. In Core i7 920 rev D0 stepping 5 thread when you requested a all memory 20 run linx I did, took me nearly an hour (how could you forget) would want to see how your batch does with linx all test,
Yes but got the 0006 bios now for no throttling :D
Thought to let ppl know as Im getting reed of my batch collection, not that i expect a real sell from the forum but never the less doesnt mind either if any body looking hard but again all my post here are ABOUT BATCHES. and 16 min gives a pass on prime to take a snap as you did aswell as i dont know of any restrictios that you cant :D
Come to think of it yes I might...
Haven't seen my batch 3849a832 in here (bit of a long read though, could've missed it).
Here's some 20 pass linx results, been hooked on benching lately & haven't made time for a long prime run yet...

Man, I' been shopping around for one of those i7's that'll hit 4.2Ghz on super low voltages that you guys get! They're hard as hell to find!
I want to ask.
Does someone have a XEON W3502 with this batch: 3901A.
Because I have the oportunity to get one of those and would be nice to know if it is worthy.
Mi actual cpu a 920 D0 and the batch begins with 49, does 4.2 with 1.36875 vcore on BIOS with HT enable.
hey guys i just got myself a D0 its new, batch# 3918A478 anyone here have one of these?
Hmmm... mine's 3917C045
i wanted some help on the configs for the UD5, my goal is 4.2 atm
Bought a core i7 3911A237 off craigslist for $150, it does 4.2Ghz rock stable with vcore 1.25v under load qpi is 1.3v, haven't bothered to go higher until finish building my loop :)
Wich one is your motherboard?
Because I also have one of does but... it need a lot more vcore :p
Has anyone have the configurations for the UD5? i wanted to check out how much mine can go up to my goal is to take it to 4.2 stable, i also use 3x1GB Gskill 1600
Thanks

Ive tried asking there but havent had an answer yet, im just looking for the settings for the UD5 that could take me to 4.2 easy...
Thanks

Enjoy! :D
Ok i tried out these settings but they didnt work for me everytime it tried to boot it would say "BOOTMSG is missing" so i tried to put to vcore to 1.38v it would get to the Welcome screen and freeze and give me the blue screen with the numbers counting up to 100 and would restart on it self, any ideas?

Try the below changes. Edit: if your on air, you may have temp problems with below settings...
If it fails, then run down mem multi to 6x and uncore to 13x and try again. If it works check stability and then walk down vcore and vtt.
If still fails try decrease bclk to 196 and try again. If it works there, you may just need more vcore and/or vtt for 21x200.

im on stock cool atm how much can i go up to with stock?
Your stock cooling is likely what is keeping you from being able to boot at 4.2. Most dont use stock cooling above 3.8 to 4, and even then will need a decent chip with low vcore/vtt requirements.
If at stock I would try no higher than 4 at first, and hope you need really low vcore/vtt for it, and dont be surprised if you cant even get 4 stable on stock.
If he disables EIST he won't be able to get Turbo mode (21x multiplier).
Btw, i think that there is no need for 1.36V of QPI/VTT voltage. My D0 is prime stable @ stock QPI/VTT voltage on 4.2GHz with 1.3V vcore.
Yeah, i know, every CPU is different but 1.36V of QPI/VTT voltage is overkill.
EDIT: I see now that he is on stock cooling. I really don't recommend to go over 3.6GHz with stock cooling.
Obviously you dont have a GB board. EIST has nothing to do with turbo on GB board.
I suggested those settings because he has been trying for several days, and already tried lower settings and was unable to get into windows with 1.38vcore and 1.32qpi/vtt, so like you said yourself, your settings are irrelevant for vcore qpi/vtt. My chip needs 1.34 qpi/vtt for 21x200, any lower and bsods...but I did not go by that irrelevant information either, instead I read what he previously tried.
And bottom line, once found out he was on stock cooling, pretty much made everything moot, as that was likely his problem from the beginning.
There aren't enough C0's in this thread any more. Here's an old i7. HT is off obviously, wouldn't have a hope in hell getting to 4GHz stable with reasonable voltage (for a C0) and reasonable temps with it left on.

well i got a UD5 and it seems there is nothing
wrong with my cpu:D same batch as one of imo's
3849B018.im so glad it was the dfi board after
seeing imo's results.so this morning after verifying

Excellent, I think you have even beater overclock than the Xeon we seen before. Looks like core i7 still has the crown of skt 1366 overclocking thanks to the UD5 and batch # 3849B018 :D
Ok then what cooler do you guys recommend me getting for the D0?
thanks imo, going to see if i can run my memory at ddr-2000 now
nope.llc is enabled
gigabyte MB's have this thing where you can set say
1.18-1.20-1.206 and in cpuz it just stays at 1.16
and 1.218-1.22-1.225 and cpu shows 1.18v
at least on all my ep45-UD3P/R's it did and im
assuming its the same on this board too.
yea its a gigabyte thing.i used to see people, just an example
in cpuz thier vcore was 1.19 and im like what the hell how you getting 1.19v
because mine went 1.186 to 1.20.but then i realized they are using different
MB's asus or evga or biostar, each have different increment scales
Yep the bios changes vcore in increments of .00625v but the sensor on the mobo which cpuz is reading reports in steps of .016v. So you have to go up 2-3 steps to see the change.
Just had a look back at your posts radaja, that is one mighty fine chip you have got there mate!!
Wish I could get my hands on a chip that could run on those kinda voltages.
im just glad it works, well im also mighty happy that its good too.
but after i got it and my dfi board and couldnt get it to prime at stock settings
i thought the worse, that it was going to be the cpu because everything is inside
now(IMC)and then seeing imo's cpu i thought great ive got a great batch but ill
never experience it.but alls good now.
BTW thanks blunt

any advice
I don't get memory speed even near that Radaja. Anyone have any ideas why? Not the latest version of Everest perhaps?
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7564/wtfh.jpg
Check your timings.
Thought my timings were pretty good.
Cas 7 against cas 8?
Do you get same numbers on retry? Everest has a tendency to report "wrong" numbers once a while, but reports "correct" mostly. But in case it would report too high, and I have never seen it to report too low (at least on system).
Your numbers are too low for your Uncore and timings. It seams to be off by about 3000MB/s(read). something seams to be wrong, but it is not easy to say what from a distance. You can try to bench with higher Vdimm to check if it is a hit&miss.
It seems to be right around the same no matter how many times I refresh. I will try upping the dimm voltage and report back. Thank you.
*Edit* Going from 1.66 to 1.68 did absolutely nothing. I have been trying to nail this down for a month now. :(
If your RAM can't handle the speed, (and sometimes raising the Vdimm wouldn't help either), then you can get bad results. Have you tested the stability of the RAM and IMC (with memtest or similar)? Take a new HyperPi32M run anyways, it will show the problem fast.
You can also try to bench with x6 RAM @6-7-6-22 (or something similar), but try to keep the Uncore at the same x16. Just to see if you can get better numbers.
I ran 5 passes of memtest and 8 hours of prime blend. I will try the lower speed and see if that helps and run as HyperPI 32M test as well, do I want to use all 8 cores?
8 hours of prime blend means stable RAM (at least at the time you tried). Most probably it is stable now too, but you never know. HyperPi32M is fast and pushes both RAM and IMC, and yes with all 8 Cores.
Thank you Sam, hope I am not being too much trouble.
No problem. I will learn from your affords too :)
When you get bad benching result, it is always a good idea to check if it is stable.
I have been playing with a OCZ P 1333MHZ CL7 earlier, and it could bench 17000+(Everest read) with x6 RAM @6-7-7-22 1.65v. Your sticks are better and should do better. It is interesting to see why it is acting like this.
It went through HyperPI 32M on all 8 cores just fine. I still haven't tried the lower timings yet.
*EDIT* 6X ram
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/1483/lolwhut.jpg
@hetsag
That's good news, your RAM is stable at x8 and you can keep it there. Now you can focus on other stuff and then when I look at the first screen you posted,
your L3-latency is 14.4 ns, and it is too high. It is strange, but it gets more strange (to me at least) when your L3-read/right are "normal", and all L1 and L2 numbers are "normal" too. I'm not exactly sure what this means, but could indicate some problems with IMC or Uncoore?
I have to look this up, and you could try to follow this too.
Maybe somebody else knows what can make L3-latency to get so high?
I didn't know that was high, but when looking at Rad's screenshot it certainly is.
Based on what you have done so far, I'm under impression that your RAM is OK, and you should get higher bench results than this.
IMC and Uncore would be next to check, but it can take a while to iron out, and maybe you should post it i a new tread.
I have never seen this problem before, and couldn't find much on a fast googling either, but i will try look it up closer later. The new IMC have some "strange new stuff" that is always interesting to follow.
I posted it in the P6T thread as well, maybe someone will have an idea there.
Do you have B2B in your bios ?
I do, by default it is set to 0. I check CPU Tweaker and it says disabled. I manually set it to 4 (Lowest option I have), makes no difference in my results. :(
Anyone hear anything good or bad about this batch number?

Thx, I have tested the @4.3GHZ(205x21) 1.28v with 1 hour prime small ftt and based on that, It would probably pass with a few degrees more core-temp. But I haven't had any prime run on this, yet.
Based on my earlier testes which LinX, it has always passed with a couple of notches less Vcore (I guess it got to something with my MB). It would probably pass the Linx too, but I haven't any Linx run yet.
cool, for some reason i cant get mine linx all mem stable @ 4.4G with HT requires about 1.34v to be linx all mem stable:shakes:
