0006 is still the bios to get ?
I read most of the pages of this thread, so if this question has been asked before here please don't flame me.
Which BIOS will allow you keep 21x multiplier for i7 920 when priming and what is the highest Bclk that S3 still works on this mobo?
Thanks
Here's a link to the original post about bios 0006.

It should keep your multi steady at 21.000X and here's the direct download link:

If you have an Asus P6T Deluxe v2 board and you are having problems with turbo throttling, the only solution is to cross flash the special v1 0006 bios to your board. Every generally available P6T Deluxe bios from the Asus website will turbo throttle if pushed hard enough.
I swear I had been reading about this problem before. But is there a known issue with these boards just shutting down randomely? All power options have been disabled in windows. I can press the keyboard and it will power back up but never get a display after that. Thanks in advance.
So which other P6T boards have they released this test bios for? I got a P6T WS Pro and need one of these updated test bioses, unless I can crossflash with another one made for a similar board? Any ideas? There was one released for the P6T6? But I can't find the link for that in this thread.
BIOS 1611 indicates updated CPU support.
6-cores anyone? :D
:D
Yummy
I only see 1610 for P6T Deluxe V2. Were did you find 1611? or is it not for v2 version?
When throttling back to multi 20 should occur? My P6T Deluxe V2 (0610) works without throttling and don't look at vcore and temps! :)
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5338/backae.th.jpg
edc: When core temps start hitting 90C you might be getting close to the throttling point. Throttling can be triggered by CPU current, power consumption or core temperature. Download RealTemp 3.30 and use that and also try running i7 Turbo. It's a little more sensitive and is better able to spot the first signs of a problem.
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/...alTempBeta.zip
Is it normal that Vista detects multi 20 as a max? (vista shows 3.48GHz (20x174MHz), cpu-z shows 3.65GHz (21x174MHz))
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/3605/back1c.th.jpg
What are you guys getting for vdroop on this board? On my P6T WS Pro, I'm getting 0.8v-0.9v vdroop on load comparing bios value to cpu-z. I've never used a board with such high vdroops before. Luckily, with LLC enabled, it seems consistent with everyone else with same value as bios or just a tick higher.
edc: Vista came out before the Core i7 existed. It ignores the turbo abilities of your processor when reporting MHz. It assumes a 20X multiplier because that is the default maximum multiplier for a Core i7 920. To get anything beyond 20X you need to be using the turbo capabilities of the CPU. The bios is a little misleading. When you select 21.0X in the bios, in the background it automatically switches turbo mode on. It has to.
No worries. All those other programs on your Desktop are right. You are definitely running at the full 21.0X multiplier even at full load and on each and every thread. If you plan to go any higher then it's time to upgrade to some water or move up north where I live. Almost winter time up here.
Hi
I just bought an Intel Xeon procesor and i try it on my old motherboard with 3x1 GB kit Corsair 1333 MHz.
The CPU work but my Win recognize only 2 GB ram. I found out that my bord dont detect memory cha A. CPU-Z recognized all 3 GB.
I try:
Change place of RAM modules- no efect. With 1 module on cha A system doesnt even POST.
Change QPI linc, Dram freq, Dram qpi voltage, ref voltage on cha A, unqore freq and volt, memory timings and so on- no efect. If overclock memory to 1700 Mhz or above Win detect only 1GB.
I try to crossflash my bios to 0006-no efect.
I am out of options and i am asking is there anyone elsee with similar problem?

Hi people,
I was running my system with 4x1 GB of pre-i7 times DDR3-1600 memory without issues. They were Corsair XMS3 1600 CL9 Dominator modules
Today I bought a i7 certified triple channel kit of Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D modules.
I could find out so far that the system is running in triple channel mode, which makes it even weirder.
My next step was putting three of my four old modules in along with the new 3x2GB set.
The BIOS now finds 7160 MB RAM instead of 4088 MB. As does my OS....
Any suggestions?
I am using the Delluxe V2 board with BIOS 0610 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Any help appreciated. I am too nervous right now to think straight...
Edit:
I just tested each module individually in memory bank A1. The system just stays dead with one of the sticks. Gotta be a dead one...
That sort of sabotages my trust in Corsair's quality.
Definetly gotta kick some arse on monday and have the sticks replaced
Hi!
I have an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, and I'm having some problems with my graphic card.
The VGA as factory overclock, and with that OC'ed clocks I get some nvidia driver crashes, artifats, etc.
The VGA went for RMA 3 times, and I've tested it on another PC and it worked well. I have a good PSU too.
So, I'm thinking it's some problem with the motherboard and it's PCI-E slots.
Can someone tell me anything I could do? Something I could try on BIOS...
Thanks.
Have you tested your power supply?
What is the blck wall on this P6Tdeluxe and how does it compare to GA UD5? I know the UD5 has a blck wall of 220. I'm about to get an x58, and was looking at this and UD5. Any others I should consider, don't wanna spend too much on ex. Rampage or Classified. Thx guys

just used a old mcw30 swiftech chipset water block screwed right in to the top of the stock nb-sb-vrs heat sink and keeps the temps in the 30s
il take a pic if anyone cares to see it
Great work mate ... nice to see the good old P6T Deluxe in action ... Proves once again ... its more than capable of extreme results
Sorry to bring up another subject. I have been trying to find out about this and what is going on for a month now. Why are my memory reads so low? Here are the system voltages. I am using the 0006 bios.
Memory 1.66V
CPU 1.368V
QPI 1.35V
PLL 1.82
IOH 1.18
Memory is set to 8-7-7-21 everything else to auto.

I was having the same problem with my new rma kit of Kingston Hyper X 2000 C8 Elpida Hyper. What memory do you have? I just read a great article over at Madshrimps about B2B on Asus X58 boards and how you can't get DDR3 933+ stable without setting B2B 10 or 12. Default is set to 0.
I couldn't get this new kit from Kingston stable cas7 or cas8 until I set to 12. After setting B2B to 12 I was quickly able to get 7-8-7-20-1T-88 stable 1.52vQPI, 1.72vDimm.

Is there any trick to go to from a 0006 Cross flashed V2 back to the newest bios for the V2? Do I still use Afudos or the Asus flasher? Thanks!
What slots do you have your memory in? You have same kit as me? Same model #? Elpida Hyper ics? I have my memory in the 2nd set of slots (orange). I have found these slots better for overclocking with my last 3 Asus boards. If so then you should be able to set my same settings. I would start with 8-8-8-21-1T and test B2B 4-10-12 and see if you get stability on any of them.
I will get you those BIOS screenshots in about 1.5 hours. You may have something enabled or disabled that I don't.
So.... time for big ass picture
http://img.techpowerup.org/091008/Capture002794.jpg
Can anyone tell my why my 3x1GB Kingston kit is only showing up as 2GB in the BIOS and under system info but under CPU-Z it shows 3GB?
EDIT: I moved the sticks around, now seeing all 3. What a weird thing...
I'm running with 12GB (six sticks) of Corsair CM3X2G1600C7 and it appears to work well.
Hi people,
you might have read about my problem with the Corsair CL8 kit, one stick not being detected. I had my RAMs replaced 9 days ago...
I went to the store thinking it was an easy issue. But after 1 1/2 h of testing they told me that all memory sticks were found by their test system. I insisted on seeing it with my own eyes, and indeed...they used a Gigabyte S775 board that really found all of them while on my P6T Del. V2 one appeared to be dead.
To make it a bit shorter... The store manager still replaced my RAMs, I saw other Corsairs in his box of triple channel kits. My CL8s were Revision 3.2 (Micron chips) and the ones I have now (CM3X2G1600C7) for an extra 10 Euros are Rev. 2.2, which translates to Elpida chips...
I hope they're no Hyper ICs. I don't want to lose another set of RAMs and have those service-incapable suckers send them back to Corsair for warranty replacement...
(see Elpida Hyper graveyard)
The problem is not with your ram. It is with your voltages in the bios.
Just bump your bump up the QPI voltage first 2 notches and if that doesn't help. Bump up your IOH voltage and IOH pci voltage and ICh voltage and ICH pci voltage. Bump all those voltages 3 notches, if this helps start bringing them down to a lower voltage that still picks up all your ram.
Also may want to reseat CPU ;)
Meww, HDCHOPPER,
it can't be the voltages, nor can it be the CPU seating. If you're going back to my first post about it you'll see that I tested EACH memory module ALONE in the fist orange socket. And only ONE of them would always be dead and not even start posting the system. So either the CPU seating keeps the whole socket dead or not at all, but not one memory stick alone...
Anyway the problem is solved. Hail Elpida CL7 chips...
I got the Asus p6t Deluxe (v2) recently and I had a bad orange DIMM slot (middle one). I had to return it for another and the new board has been running great. I'm a bit of a wall with 4.4ghz HT off 1.39vcore 1.92pll and 1.3/1.3 for ioh, 1.66v mem with the Corsair XMS 3 CL7 6GB kit. I really can't complain. I've been trying to figure out if it's worth it to enable HT and go for 4.2ghz or leave it off and go for 4.4GHz as my 24/7.
I've read all over that setting QPI above 1.35 is bad, how dangerous are we talking when going above 1.35?
You should look at this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=207972 (vtt is qpi voltage)
I have held my qpi voltage at 1.575 nearly a month, no problems and degradation, but now is at 1.45 and i think that up to that voltage is safe enough if you have good cooling.
Well at 4.4ghz I manage about 73 under full prime95/occt load (not linpack ) with a lapped TRUE. I thought that the QPI voltage mostly just helps with RAM overclocking, does it also help when you are having CPU crashes on prime95 small fft? I've got a solid 750W. I might have to have another run at 4.6GHz with 1.4-1.42vcore and higher QPI...hmmm:up: (Just got an i7 from my q6600 in the last few days so I'm adjusting to the Overclocking on this platform)
From my experience, small ffts will fail only if qpi/uncore/dram is very unstable. I have run in prime95 24h small and 24h large ffts, perfectly stable, but linx failed after 30min. I raised qpi for 0.025v and system during linx is now stable.
After that, I am using prime95 for testing cpu core stability, linx for qpi/uncore stability, memtest for testing dram stability.
I have crossflashed my P6T SE to P6T so now I should be able to use sli. I wonder if it is possible to flash it to P6T Deluxe or Rampage 2 Extreme ? I flashed my P5E x38 to rampage formula x48 without any problems and I had more settings and more stable vcore with that bios with my E8600.
/wekktor
Do you think it is possible to do that? What could happen if it didnt work? Does it erase the bios and then see that it isnt possible to flash or can it see that it is impossible to flash it before the bios has been erased ?
hallo
doesnt anyone know if this crossflashing is possible? if it isnt possible shouldnt it stop before it begins to erase the bios when it read bios ?
Well to even attempt a cross flash of the bios you have to enable a flag that forces the bios flashing program to flash regardless. So I think it will just erase the bios then write the contents of the new rom file from star to end. So if it is too long or short of a rom file it will just truncate/not finish. If the rom matches the size of storage for the bios rom image then I would think chances are it won't entirely brick your bios.
Problem is, if you do brick your bios for your motherboard, I don't think you can do anything. It's not like a video card where the motherboard still starts up and you just blind flash. You'd probably have to find the pins on the rom chip and flash using a hardwired connection.
isnt there any rich here that could try to crossflash p6t/p6t se to deluxe/rampage? :D
Why havent anyone tried it? Cant find anything about it on the net.

yes
ok but do you know if it is possible to flash it to a deluxe ?
still noone know if it is a possible crossflash?
Why dont you try it for yourself?
maybe get a bricked motherboard?
If someone has tried it or succesfully done it there would be information here. If your afraid of bricking your board (which is a good chance) why would anyone else jump to try it?
eh, someone must have tried it first on every crossflashed mb. They could be bricked too ? Someone must have been the first that tried to crossflash p6t se to p6t for an example, and he should know that it could be bricked.
I have Asus P6TD default Bios 0106 every time i tried to OC over 4200 Mhz id get unstable results crash, reduced performance, had no idea motherboard would throttle down the multi for no reason even with temps way within reason  , then i checked I7 turbo tool and true enough it throttles on heavy load (prime,LinX) sometimes even at 4200mhz was not 100% so i stumbled upon this thread and crossflashed a new AsusP6TD to -> old Asus P6T Delux v1 bios 0006
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/996...mstable.th.jpg http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/918...ble56gf.th.jpg
Tada !! multi rock solid no more annoying throttling and managed to squeez some extra speed ( True 120 + 1xScythe SlipStream 2000rpm ), did not try 4400 yet getting pretty close to thermal ceiling .
So to anyone else with P6TD version wondering if its possible to crossflash , downgrade bios , its a YES.
^^^ do you have P6TD V2 and corssflashed it to Deluxe V1?
I have this one -> ASUS P6TD Deluxe (suppose to have new revision of NB)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-403-_-Product
you refering to older ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-365-_-Product
crossflashing to Deluxe V1 should work on both , they are all the same more or less except one of them has SAS controler.
hum... i'm wondering with all this problems and stuff with P6T MB, i'm starting to think if i should sell the Deluxe V2 and get a better ocing Gigabyte Motherboard.
Hello,
My uncore clock is 3200 MHz currently (DDR3-1600 on a P6T Del. V2, BIOS 1610) , and at anything higher than that IBT/Linx would start BSODing my system.
This feels a bit too much razor's edge to me, and I'd like to have a bit more of a margin. What are the key factors to that? The one that's apparent to me is the Uncore/QPI voltage. I'm at 1.35V currently.
AFAIK most people cannot hit 4000 and thus are limited to less than DDR3-2000, but a bit more than 3200 should be possible on my rig...
I have the P6T Deluxe V2 with 920 D0. If you go back one page in this thread you can see my screenshots at DDR3-2000Mhz 7-8-7-20-1T Uncore 4000.
This was not possible at all without changing B2B setting to 10 or 12. B2B is under your memory timings. Asus defaults this to 0. I would BSOD instantly with LinX or MemTest until I changed B2B to 12. It also allowed me to lower my vQPI and vDimm voltages significantly while still staying 20 runs LinX maxmem stable. Try it out.
Hi,
thanks for the hint. To make it short, I know about B2B CAS delay, however the higher it goes the less throughput you get. This makes 2000 MHz quite pointless especially at the expense of stressing your hardware more despite less or app. the same throughput and latencies.
My 920 is a C0 and my RAMs are Corsair 1600 CL7s with Elpida chips but no Hypers. It didn't work at 4000/2000, but I got it stable at 3600 QPI clock with ~1.5V Uncore. 4000/1600 boots now at least, but Linx crashes the system after 30 seconds.
Other than that I am quite satisfied with the result, more stability and overall much more reasonable results. ^.^
3x2 GB Corsair DDR3-1600 CL7 Rev. 2.2 (no Dominators), 7-7-7-20-72-1T, 1.66V, 1.425V/3400 Uncore, CPU@19x200 HT enabled...

Asus has come out with a special bios for the Asus P6T Deluxe v2 boards so users won't have to cross flash with the v1 bios any more to disable turbo throttling issues.
If this bios works for you then post some results. If it doesn't work then let users know that too.
Update: This new bios has not lived up to the hype. It does not fix the turbo throttling issues. You are better off to cross flash to the 0006 v1 bios.
great!!! im waiting for my p6t dlx v2, arrives friday. gonna flash right away with this bios. bye bye throttling :D
@ unclewebb, does also as the support for xeons cpu's?
thanks,
infected_
I'll flash my v2 tonight and test it out. Will post back with results and findings.
I just downloaded from your link and extracted the .RAR. There is the bios and a .txt file. The text file says the following:
"This is a beta bios for the Asus P6T Deluxe Version 1 only."
Your post states Asus has come out with a special bios for the Asus P6T Deluxe v2 board but the above statement taken from the text file included with the BIOS says its only for P6T Deluxe v1?????????
yeah, saw that txt file now also. what gives?! lol
Oops, I forgot to update the nasty warning message. I didn't think anyone actually reads that junk. I'll go update that but the bios contained in that download should be for the v2 board. It will have v2 in the bios file name.
Edit: I changed a 1 to a 2 in the warning message. Everything should be good now.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?loyym02zgtm
I don't yet know about improved Xeon support.
Use the latest versions of RealTemp and i7 Turbo when testing things out.
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/...alTempBeta.zip
If I had a Xeon handy I'd be testing now but I don't. Let me know what you find out.Quote:
I don't yet know about improved Xeon support.
im almost sure asus did placed support for xeon's on this bios. im gonna try to convince a friend to test it on is p6t dlx v2 and xeon.
Do you know if this is the latest 0610 bios with turbo throttling disabled or is this an older bios? Thanks for clarification on the warning message, the bios does have V2 in the bios name.
Asus isn't very good with the numbering of these special bios versions. They usually start with 000_ but sometimes they count up and sometimes they count down. It's always good to have a look at the bios date.
The date on this special bios looks like today's date in the file.
11/03/2009
You will likely see that date in the CPU-Z Mainboard tab.
I also had a look inside the file and it is definitely a v2 bios.
it is in fact CPU that needs reseating that will often fixed that issue
it has for me on many i7 boards including this one
you start dropping channels if its not sitting right....
had anyone here used one of these boards for Extreme OC? what bios are you using?
Still seeing it drop the multiplier with this bios, shows 11/3/2009 in CPUZ. UGG:(
Hey all, Im probably going to be buying one of these nice boards, I am just wondering what kind of temps you are reaching on your NB with a 4.0 oc on stress and idle, and if anyone happens to have pics of a P6T DL V2 with full chipset and mosfet cooling.
Thanks!
Can you post a screen shot of RealTemp / i7 Turbo / CPU-Z while running Prime 95 or LinX so I have something to send to Asus.
Use the latest tools:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/...alTempBeta.zip
and turn on the log file option in i7 Turbo and send that my way as well.
Open CPU-Z up to the Mainboard tab so the bios version is displayed.
You can upload it to www.sendspace.com
So far Asus has been good at fixing things as long as you can fully document the problem. Make sure you don't have any other monitoring software running while testing including any side bar monitoring gadgets. Some applications use the system timers in an unfriendly manner and can interfere with your results so I want to make sure that your monitoring is accurate.
dinos22: Most users have been cross flashing the v2 boards with the special 0006 v1 bios with good results.
Obviously, the special 0001 v2 bios is still a work in progress and needs some further testing.
unclewebb is correct , i observed Everest with windows monitoring gadget causes i7Turbo tool to misreport multi throttling even with special rev1 bios ( who doesn't throttle for me )
Its a good idea not to run several different monitoring softwares .
New bios 0001 works great for my Xeon W3580, no throttling. 32x134@4288MHz HT on.
im gonna test this new bios 0001 on my p6t dlx v2, which arrives today :D, and 920 D0, and post also the results.
Works great for me as well. There is no throttling. Only issue I see is with version 1 bios the motherboard esata was working. Now with version 2 bios my esata drive is no longer detected. I may crossflash back to version 1 bios as I do use esata. Strange that with stock version 2 bios esata doesn't work either.
unclewebb, post #1380
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?loyym02zgtm
I flashed my V2 last night to the new 0001 V2 bios and it works great. I was using RealTemp 3.0 and i7Turbo 6.8 while testing after the flash and was getting throttling. I switched to the latest RealTemp 3.39 and i7Turbo 6.9 as unclewebb advised and there is no throttling at all while running LinX @ 4280Mhz HT On.
Thank You!
Thanks for testing this out guys and I'm happy to see no more turbo throttling.
The i7 Turbo program (and RealTemp) works by reading two high performance system timers for each thread to calculate the real time multiplier for that thread. Unfortunately these timers are not a protected resource like they should be so any monitoring software can reset, clear or change these timers at any time which will screw up the results that i7 Turbo displays. Test with as few monitoring programs going as possible. Once you see the results, then go back and enable your other monitoring programs and it will be very clear what programs aren't using your timers in a friendly manner.
Pipeman597: Interesting observation about esata. Your comment will be going directly to Asus and hopefully they can have a look at this.
I read somewhere for 240blck on P6T Deluxe, but it depends from the processor I think.
hey unclewebb
i just flashed to it
everything is alive booting into windows at 5GHz
lets see whats going on with this bios
i'll load up your realtemp as well for temps...hopefully it can pickup core temps when then spike into positives
on SS atm
I think I've seen a screen shot or two with Core i7 sensors working at about -12C. If they're not sticking, they might even go a little lower than that.
They have a much greater range of motion compared to the old 45nm Core 2 sensors that used to get iffy at anything below 50C.
A 5GHz screen shot should put a smile on the Asus rep when he drops by to see how the new bios is doing.
S1N3: I just had a look at your log file and it is definitely showing signs of turbo throttling. I can't understand why the other users here aren't having this problem with this new bios. What sort of core temperature are you hitting on core 0? It's odd because it was running OK at the start of your log but it looks like after it's run for a while and as the temps come up it starts to cycle between 21 and 20. Post some screen shots and I'll see what I can do.
Your log file is such a perfect example of what turbo throttling looks like that I decided to post it here so other users can have a look.
The CMULTI column is the average Calculated Multiplier of all of your threads.
The STDEV column beside that shows the Standard Deviation of the multipliers. A very low number like 0.001 or 0.002 shows that all threads are reporting pretty much the exact same thing.
This is definitely showing that the multiplier at full load is cycling back and forth between 21 and 20 on all threads. If you would have kept testing it would probably continue to drop lower and lower until the multiplier was finally spending all of its time at 20X. The MSR multiplier column is just more confirmation that there's a problem here and as soon as this throttling starts to happen, it can no longer maintain the Load meter at 100%.
The moment the load stops, the multiplier is able to jump back up to 21X.
