Check the previous posts all of our settings are listed but you should go into memory timings and change p1 from auto to enabled and that will make all the difference but you need to be on the new bios or you will have other issues (corruption)...Quote:

In BIOS 0508 memory was working right at 7-6-6-25 2T with a 9000 MB/s bandwidth, I hope it is just a bug of newer bios and it will be fixed in the future.
Well anything after 0508 is totally unestable for me. The newer the BIOS, the worse it gets. However, memory bandwidth went from 88xx to 9100Mbs in Everest Benchmark.Quote:

Remember 5010? He needs 1.20 I believe for his OC on the eVGA. 1.30 is not too high but for 45nm, you have to remember the cpu is more sensitive and some people even mentioned of 45nm dead because of high VTT so you might want to see if you can lower this and keep your OC.Quote:

In my striker, the more I give, the more inestable lol. Again, not because they say thats below the risk, it is safe. 1.54 for me sounds like a little too much but thats just me. I also remember, some 45nms like high NB voltage to work at high speeds so you might just need to leave it there if you want to keep your OC.Quote:

At 1.20VTT you would need -48mV at 0.63 of reference, and this setting is not available, so I go for 1.28 as this gives exactly -51mV. As I say setting VTT to auto gives me 1.28 anyway.Quote:

BIOS 0509,0511,0512,0601,602,603 they all give me the samething. I OC the RAM, LCD shows me TEST MEM and if I OC the CPU then it shows me DET DRAM.
Im really tired of this and that I was only able to accomplish 350Mhz estable. Maybe the GTLRefs are the key for the OC but so far Im really dissapointed and the worse is that all because of OC, not even because of data corruption.
It is quite simple really, but the difficult thing is deciding on the correct ratio for your processor. The reference is 67% of VTT, the suggested level for 45nm Quad Core is 63% of VTT. Therefore the GTL calculation would be (-4% x VTT). If VTT was 1.28 this would be 4% x 1.28. Multiply this by 1000 to give mV, gives a value of -51.2. Therefore I have my VTT at 1.28 and GTL at -51. If you set your VTT at 1.10, then 4% x 1.10 x 1000 = -44mV. Unfortunately the value of -44 is not available in the bios, so you would have to either choose the closest value, (which effectively means you are not using the 63% ratio) or change the voltage. 1.28 is for me the best choice as the -51mV value is available in the bios. Of course all this assumes that 63% of VTT is the best value for Quad Cores. I have seen people setting positive GTL values, and some setting values lower than 63%. Positive values seem to work for 65nm processors in general.Quote:

I get a 457Mhz FSB boot with a QX. This quad was FSB Wall @453mhz with P5E3 WS and DFI P35!!!!
Unfortunately, it doesn't like LN2. I mean i can't do anything with it yesterday. The QX was 5.8Ghz on P5E3 WS, but it doesn't work on Striker 2. I guess it will works great sooner.

At this point, neither of them... Either wait for the chipset bioses to mature or look at another platform, 100% stability is ONLY achievable by "Luck" or "patience" at this point and unless you're and extremely lucky individual you'll need some OCing skillz even in order to stabilize stock speeds.Quote:

Granted there are definately 8-inductors but because of the PWM controller there are actually only 4-phases "working" at any given time depending on the load. So under sudden load the system will only pull current from half the phase while other other 4 sit idle (thanks Anandtech for information). With that said the reference design 6-phase system might actually be a better choice? Please correct me guys if I'm spewing BS here!

Black Pearl suppose to be a cherry picked board, but how and who decide what is a "cherry" ?

I highly doubt that eVGA does any in-house speed binning of these boards before throwing a few waterblocks on them (of course I could be wrong however, wouldn't be the first time). With that said I guess eVGA might specifically ask for better binned chipsets from Nvidia, then they specifically use them in these "Black Pearl" boards, but again I highly doubt it!
I also heard something related to the power phases been actually a lower number than what was offered. Like Gigabytes 10 phase power was really 4 or something like that and ASUS upcoming 16 phase power wasnt really gonna be 16 phase power. I would like to know more info about this since this 8 phase power has been around for a long time, but people still bought them and havent complain.Quote:

I dont know if the eVGA is a better choice, but probably is because of the support. Also, remember it doesnt use solid caps so that might be a disavantage.

I will share my settings for sure, just give me some time. Right now im in the process of lowering the voltages as much as I can, but right now I must say my voltages are pretty safe and Im pretty happy with what I have accomplished. However, my RAM had to be lowered (1333) for me to achieve this so after I finish tunning my voltages, I will mess with the RAM and if I have no luck, I still have 0702 and 703 to try out (and I heard they act much better and allow more memory oc) and I can always tight the timings if clock speeds dont work well... we will see.
But I promise to post my settings :) w/ screenshoots and everything.
I dont think they are hand picked. Remember that eVGA always charges a premium price for the Black Pearl products (same with VGA cards). With all this problems around, I doubt they get good sales.Quote:

sorry to bother, I have a friend that has the striker 780 and he is complaining that it will freeze even when he is in the BIOS. He is using Ballastics and I have read many people have had issues with that RAM. Wondering if you guys had any suggestions for him. I have him trying one stick of RAM at a time to see if that helps. He tried resetting to BIOS defaults with still no luck. Any info would be welcome :)

At least here in the States DDR3 prices are dropping like crazy (just like DDR2 did)! Anyway there seems to be many great PC3-12800/14400/16000 for under $300, just a few weeks ago PC3-1333 kits were $300+ even for crappy kits! With so many great kits that are cheap its hard to recommend a single kit? Kits from Super Talent, OCZ, Crucial, Patriot, and many others use great IC's and will overclock very well (binning will be different for different kits however). A great place to start looking would be right here in the "Extreme Bandwidth" section. There are many great reviews there and should help you to find a better value kit that overclocks just as good as the more expensive kits! Good luck revhead!

Careful with your CPU voltage that seems really high voltage even on water, 1.44 in CPUZ equates to about 1.57 or more what are your temps?? Can you do an Everest Memory benchmark for bandwith I would love to see your results with the Cell Shock at those speeds.. Overall that is a really awesome OC I must admit I would love to run at 4.5 but My SH*T would melt.. Anyway, Kudos...

I am 100% estable Prime95 25.6 running for more than 12 hours. UNFORTUNATELY, my P1 & P2 since they are in AUTO, they seem to be disabled since Everest gave me 8848Mbs for reading ! But this morning before leaving home, I enabled P1 and P2 and left it running Prime25... we will see how it goes when I get back home.
So far, I love the board and the CPU. I still want to give 0702 a try as well as 703 between today and saturday night. Just to not to be left with doubts on my head
I think Im one of the few lucky Striker II Extreme Owners who did got a decent board. Never had corruptions and I been running this board since first day I got it with more than 10 BIOS updates done.

UPDATE#1: Just came home, turned on the screen and saw Prime failed on thread#1 :( I just gave my vdimm a boost from 1.86 to 1.88 since it might need more power to handle P1 and P2 enabled. We will see how it goes this time... UPDATE: FAILED

After 2 Striker II Extremes that were DOA, I was able to get a refund and got a EVGA board.
Although the EVGA board does not have all the ASUS nice stuff, I have found it to be a solid board.
Finally got the system fired up to do some benchmarking before I put it on the Lightspeed (Phase cooler). Just have it on Liquid Cooling.
Got the system to 4.5G (475 *9.5)
CPU Core 1.45v most other voltages just bumped a little.

It seems problem with SiiEx are real. My first mobo (borrowed for review) was great. But my own second has only problems, no data corruption but OCing is poor ... i cannot to realize any high FSB stable at any conditions ... i am moving to eVGA reference board. I went back to EVGA 780i after refund S2E and DDR3 (it's funny how $239.99 became so cheap after all this mess). I've got a rev. A2 and it's been rock solid from day 1. They even fixed all the TIM's and I don't have to worry about MCP temps anymore. Rev. A1 died on me 2 times 3 months ago but EVGA CS was great so I gave another shot. I'm glad SLI is back and I'm able to step-up, both cards and mobo, in the next couple of months.Quote:

Why does enabling P1 and P2 make so much trouble? Gosh... I might be better going straight to 0703... but I hate doubts on my head so I will try 0702 too just in case.
I share your pain. My 2nd S2E was Prime stable for 6 hours and froze when I tried to watch a movie. I ran Prime again and it stopped in less than 1 min. no matter what GTL combination. I hope it doesn't happen to you. Good luck.Quote:
