My DS3R does not have a NB temp sensor, only a motherboard temp. To get the motherboard temps lower I believe you need a fan blowing under and towards the video card. That is where the motherboard sensor is located.

Does anybody know how to attach the HD Audio and AC 97 connects with the Antec Nine Houndred with a Creative xtreme Gamer Pro? If I want to use the inputs on top of the case with the creative card how do I hook them up? Do the attachment connect with the motherboard or the sound card?
If you are using the card I think you are using, then on your card there should be 2 10-pin connectors on your card. One faces towards the front of your case (parallel to the card itself) and one that faces towards the side of your case (its at a 90 degree angle to the card itself). Plug the HD Audio connector (Not the AC 97 connector - you can only connect one at a time, not both) into the one that faces towards the front of the case. It should be keyed so that it only plugs in in the correct manner, but if not you should double check your manual.
here check out my system :D
sorry the files are too big and i dunno how to make smaller :(

Looking darn good Will! Someday I will get off my ass and paint mine.
Next plan will be to replace the 4 120 fans... 3 up front and 1 rear exhaust, with these:
ENERMAX MAGMA
http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggIma...214-001-04.jpg
1500 RPM
69.15 CFM
18 dBA
Also I still have to mount that bottom eSATA bracket to the side of the PSU (out of sight).
Since I have replaced my blue LED case feet, I will use the wires and solder 2 of the 4 lights with red LEDs (2 red, 2 blue), and mount 1 of them lower left behind the red hibiscus flower sticker, so it glows.
After all the cases i have used since the 900, i have found myself back to the 900 again, its just a damn good case!!
AND...
The 900 is not DISCONTINUED like I thought. It's still for sale!
(Nice profile pic by the way)
Looking good WiLL. got any shots of the back side behind the mobo tray?
This shot was taken about 2 months ago.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../a900-back.jpg
I love the shot with the video card... it's a magazine frontpage shot. What camera do you have?
I know it was a new $300-400 Canon. I borrowed it while a friend was in town.
The other shot of the inner roof, was supposed to show the lack of wires, even from the 200mm fan \rr/_
Nice desk set up will. Good job at hiding all the wires... including the ones on the outside!!!
It's one of the nicest ANtec 900 i've seen arround. Good job.
ANTEC 900 > ALL! :D :D :D
i dont paint the inside of my case cuz. bugs fly into my fans and then some land on the bottem inside the case and some gets SHOT out by the 200mm fan on top XD
i shall be upgrading my 8800gt soon ;D
got some pics :D
il hopefully be able to make this look as good as some of your pics :(
WiLL as usual the case amazes me bro...hows the dust factor in there and your desk is SPOTLESS lol mine is filled with wires underneath...great wire management
As far as those replacement fans i was looking at them a while back but i was not sure if they had led's, do you plan on modding them for led's or you do not care for the led's??
The dust is not that big of a deal. I take the case outside and blast it with compressed air, then I windex a few things.
The wire management started with the 900, then led to my desk, and then my living room, kitchen -- anywhere there are wires hanging out.
The front fans used to have a nice dark blue LED (darker than the aqua green tricools), but after time, I got sick of the amount of light at night when going to sleep. So I took the fans out, and cut the wires going to the leds.
I like light, but I like it more when they can be shut off by a switch.
nice i too use compressed air i just wanted to see if you get a lot of dust in there....ever since i did my wire management i dont get half the amount of dust that i used to lol
man i love my 8600
pencil modded it runs at 810/1900/1904
on stock cooler only gets to 105 C in furmark with 16x (with 2 120's on it other wise it idles at 53 C same voltage)
Hi all,
A week ago I made some holes for the cables and to flip mu PSU up side down(bought a new one).
A few days ago, I bought a new PSU and some extra CCFL's(Greeb and UV).
This is how it looks like now:

I hope I have resized the pictures enough.
Could someone also make a well detailed guide for me how to spraint the case inside black or pm me?
I would really really appreciate that. Please, also tell me which sand paper I need and how much grid, how many hours to dry, how may layers etc.
Greetz,
Gelu :)
I don't need it yet. I'm running Bioshock on high and not buying Crysis for a while. The kind of work I do with my rig doesn't need a 8000 series yet neither. To tell you the truth, by the time I need a VGA upgrade, I'll just get a 9K series. :D
Ready to drop in my P5Q-E...
Right side panel barely goes on... I can feel a small bump on the side where the wires go too high.

Looking good!
Gelu how is that Accelero working out for you? I am thinking of grabbing a couple for my 4850's.
EAT ME! im getting a 4870 soon if i cant afford a 4870x2 whenever thats coming out.
Gelu you should change the fan on your hyper 212 because it's facing downwards and it's a sleeve type, so it won't get proper lubrication. I have a S flex on mine currently
I was wondering has anyone used this (I dont know what its called..) to cut holes into thier cases
http://www.argos.co.uk/wcsstore/argo...7UC324767X.jpg
If not, then are there any other tools i can get from DIY stores in the UK preferbaly such as homebase..
Thanks.
Hole-saw bits attached to a drill will be a better way to cut clean holes, in various sizes, in your case. From my experience, dremels are good for square holes, but a royal pain if you are using cutting wheels that break every 2 minutes. I cannot help ya much with stuff in the UK, since I am in the States.
Hole saws are the way to go for sure just make sure to get one that cuts metal.(fine tooth)
I always use some automotive vacuum line sliced down one side around the hole to give a nice clean finish and protect the wires from shorting.
FYI Newegg has the nine hundred for $70 shipped again:

I went to a DIY store today i could find and hole saws only the ones for wood and the biggest size i could also find was about 70 max. Are you sure there are no other ways to do this dosnt have to be a neat hole but clean would be nice. (I'm trying to cut a hole under the Antec Nine Hundred for the PSU fan).
Thanks.
You need to look around more they are out there.
They also make kits with various diameter bits
Maybe make some phone calls to local stores and make things quicker.

I like the acoustic matting job, and the wiring job is very clean. Change out the stock CPU cooler for something better, like an Ultima-90i from Thermalright!
I'll buy the Noctua NH-U12P (cpu cooler) and the thermalright HR 03 for my graphic card:)
Give me your advice pls =)[/QUOTE] very nice
dammit, i cant wait to get my 4870 !!!!! :yepp:

How on earth did you think of that 'matting' idea :P

I'll post some pictures of my A900 soon.
Hehe, I remember finding this thread on Google from back when I first got my 900. Most of my mods had their start from something done here.

anybody want to sell a hard drive cage? I am using an external dvd drive, and i want to put more fans in there. so...hit me back! Thanks.
Nice work ol bad!
I posted pictures of my Antec 900 a long time ago in this thread (December 2007).
Anyways since then not too much has changed but I will be ordering a GTX 260 at the end of next week and I have upgraded my PC some since then.
The previous post has the before when I had a E6550 with stock cooling.
I have now replaced all 120mm fans with 3 Scythe Kaze-Jyuni 110CFM. I have replaced the CPU with a E8400 overclocked to 4.0Ghz running around 40c idle and 52c on load. I am using a TRUE Black with a modded Thermalright fan duct. For lighting I am using 1 12" and 1 4" blue cathode.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...i/101_0794.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...i/101_0792.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...i/101_0796.jpg
I have blocked all airflow from the side vent because I do not want to interrupt the flow of air from the front of the case to the rear. I liked the look of the mesh so in order to stop any air from entering or exiting the case there I used a paper sleeve protector for 8.5x11 paper and cut it so that it would double in side so cover the vent. I then cut the areas of the window that went behind it so that the screws with tighten correctly and hold the mesh in place. It came out alot better than expected and a lot better than I originally had it before I replaced the side panel. I had the replace the side panel because the window started cracking.
For cable management here is a picture behind the motherboard tray.

Here is my build finally. Sheesh too many problems here and there (cutting hole issues, aluminum bottom feet issues, paint issues, many more lol)
This is my first attempt at cable management and case modding. I been looking at this thread for a while now trying to see what I could do for the Antec 900 I had. This is one of the best or probably the best thread I seen for the Antec 900.
I wanted an interim build before my Silverstone TJ10 but I ended up making this build my main.
I started this build like 2 months ago, ran into problems here and there and worked on it off and on.
I was going to not paint the case but after seeing all you guys paint it, so I decided to do as well.
This was can spray painted.
http://www.juggernaut23.com/Computer...Pics%20000.JPG
As you can see, it has holes cut out as well. That is another story.. LOL
I planned out the holes by drawing them out and seeing how I can cut thru using a dremel but in the end best tools are those hole punchers once you know how to use it properly.. LOL Yeah I made a mess initially with bad cuts but I ended up rounding all the edges with the dremel and cutting better circles with the Greenley hold punchers.
Well the paint didn't last long because the painted surfaces felt a bit sticky and I wasn't satisfied so I ended up powder coating the case and drive cages. I should of went with semi-gloss black or flat black but as it turned out the gloss black was fine.
Also another story is that, I wanted to put the power supply (Corsair HX620w) with the letters right side up so I ended up cutting the bottom, but in doing so I neede to remove the bottom feet. I wanted to upgrade it so I bought the aluminum feet but found a problem because with these you need to place a nut on the other side of the panel but as you can see where I wanted the feet, there is no space under the power supply. I could either place them closer to the front which didn't look too pleasing or use stock ones but not evenly placed. Anyhow I solved the problem using JB weld. I decided that I could place on nut on the bottom to screw in the screw/bolt and have it leveled even thru the hole I made below the power supply and grind off excess to even out the bottom of the panel.

http://www.juggernaut23.com/Computer...Pics%20003.JPG
Finally I got working on putting it together.
http://www.juggernaut23.com/Computer...Pics%20004.JPG
Had to even the bottom so nothing would be poking the power supply from the bottom. (damn, howd that hair get there, must be the woman's)
http://www.juggernaut23.com/Computer...Pics%20005.JPG
I know some of you reversed the hard drives and I thought of doing that but might as well show the cool connectors.

Almost complete

The Thermalright Extreme 120Ultra heat sink is just too big and gets in the way of putting the fan on the side. I need someone to help me create a new plexi panel so I can actually mount a 120mm fan on the side.
My 9800 GTX was having glitching issues which would not go away after even giving it a long rest and having more fans on it so it went away and came a Evga 280 GTX.
I will have to post new pics later.
Anyhow I hope you guys like it. I did go thru an ordeal to finish but I am happy other than the video issues.

@chiman2: nice wire management dude :)
Wow really good job on that cable managment , even with that one wire you still havent fixed it looks excellent. What type of zalman is that?
thanks its a zalman cnps9700
LOL thanks, Yeah I was going to sleeve that cable but then they would in no way fit thru there, hehe.
Chiman2, your rig looks great. Good cable management.
Are you having any heat issues with that 9800 GTX??
Mine after like a few days started to glitch like crazy so I cooled it down for a day then it was fine and it went back on the fritz so I put many fans on it but still no avail so I just upgraded it.
Same place I got mine. *Custom-Made*
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../DSC09935e.jpg
(picture is several months old)
Anyone know where you can get those right angle Sata power connectors in the UK?
Hehe... Yep custom made.. but you can get the base cables from FrozenCPU.
And I never got to measure my temps because I thought I had to go out and buy a infrared temp gauge or something. Do motherboards come native with temp sensors for Vid Cards?? Do you just need a program to read them?
Yes, I'm a newbie, but I've been a lurker for over 6 months now, and this is my first modded case. Thought I'd post in appreciation for all the help this thread has given me.

Covered most of the visible parts of the case with sound deadening material. More for looks than performance. No experience painting yet and I'm still afraid.

Better shot of motherboard area. All possible cables were routed to the back of the case, even ones covered by the hard drive cages.

Cut out the back fan grill and replaced with black wire grill, replaced stock pci slot cover plates with Silverstone vented plates.

All the wires hidden behind the rear of the motherboard tray. The panel barely slides on because of some of the thick cables.

Cut PSU hole and mounted 140 mm fan grill. Feet made out of rubber feet found at a local hardware store and home depot. 4 pads stacked together with the bottom one a rounded hard rubber pad. Needed the height for the PSU fan.

This is my home "server" computer that will eventually hold a total 8 hard drives by adding 4 more 1 TB WD GP drives when space is needed. Most of the ideas for this machine came from the bright and creative individuals on this thread. Thanks to all of you for the great work and informative posts.
I don't like the color of some of the LEDs on the yate loon fans (some lightish blue, some close to green). I would like to replace them with the darker blue 5 mm leds. Anyone had any experience buying them off of ebay? Any specific manufacturer you've had luck with?
Please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for improvements.
BTW I actually know the guy who designed the outside of this case for Antec as well as all the recent Antec cases. I told him/showed him this thread and he was really impressed. He's a really nice guy.
Ok this is my FIRST build haha if you couldnt tell, yes I know my wire managment sucks!!, you don't have to tell me that lolol unless you suggest something that can help it without cutting holes. It took me from 4pm-10pm to finish putting everything together ( lmao yes I know FAILURE but in the end it seemed alot easier than I expected it to be O_O )
Sorry the pics are so big!

While putting this together , I had some time in tropical storm fay :D ( This was in the beggining of it, by the time it ended my street looked like a ocean and they closed all roads because cars wouldnt be able to operate in them, me and my friend took are inner tubes and floated on a main road, I dont have a pic. of that though :( )

Need more molex connectors in 1 spot. Looks like a giant lego. :). It doesn't appear you even tried to use the holes that Antec provided. I have a version 1 900 that doesn't have those holes. I would CERTAINLY put those to use if I had them.
Nope I didnt, to complicated :P
I have the TW Extreme 120 as well with same issue so I took the entire plexi out of hte side panel and shimmed it with small washers and it stays extremely cool after adding another 120mm fan to the inside on one of the empty hdd cages using one of the adapters that came with the case.
My kids need a new PC for doing their homework. I decided to build one with mostly leftover parts from my last 900 build. This will be a minimalist build.. (still fast though!) as clean as possible. I love that look!
The few parts I had to pick up are a lot cheaper now:
Q6600 $150
2 500GB SATA HDDs @ $65 ea.
The 1st is a MBRocketry inspired PS mod:

Next up is the MetalRush USB Mod. I am moving the ports to the top of the case.
Here is the pattern.. off to start cutting:

I'll post more as this build progresses. Waiting on parts from the egg and I need to finish cutting access holes and start painting!

lookin good everyone... cant wait 4 next proj!
@sailrabbit; clever idea, looking good :D
Finished the USB mod. Painting with it 100° / 16% humidity was a major PIA. The outside was easy, the interior paint would fog and build up on the bottom like sand lol. Looked like I painted in a running clothes dryer. Sanded it out and held the can much closer and moved faster. I like the result.. much more of a flat matte finish that absorbs light. Moving on to final assembly. Here are some progress shots:

@ Chiman: I would try to manage the cabling of your PSU. Is so much nicer when done (wait till Sailrabbit is done and compare that to your own... you will know what I mean in 1 blink of the eye :)).
@ Hiroman: very nice clean setup! But what is that unit in your top-drive-bay?
@ Kraifect: you really should do something about your cabling... not today or tomorrow (I understand you want to enjoy your new rig first...) but pls do. Your airflow is f*cked now and that is totally unnecessary with this case :)
@ Sailrabbit: Oooh, my little sailing friend, you make it a feast for the eye... again (and pls, don't blame me for the USB-port mod... I stole that idea somewhere else :P)
