You can influence this difference greatly though, to the point you stop seeing any. After remounting my waterblock numerous times I got the difference sorted out, like I had before. I imagine that many aircoolers with screw down method have the exact same problem. Because of the decreased surface it's much harder to find this exact balance.
Seems I'm also hitting a wall at 300fsb, I'll live with 2700 for now...Big improvement over my 3500+ which I was running stock...

I can boot into windows XP SP2 @ 3000Mhz (300x10) 1.5v but failed SP2004 Prime test :p:
Not to worry very happy with 2850Mhz on air considering it's summer here (30c temps) and computer is in non air conditioned house :eek:
Fianlly got my chilly1 phase and put my opteron 170 0550 UPMW under it and i finally hit 3G i was stuck at 2.920 until i loosed the read preamble and MAL so thankyou whoever it was that mentioned that.

My Opteron 175 was bought from newegg. It was OEM for $186 US. I have to say that I was just lucky with the stepping as they do not guarantee stepping. It's a very good chip for air cooling. I might even be able go a little higher with it.

Mine (Opteron 165UP) also is now Mobo limited at 3250MHZ stable with such low Vcore & watercooled....:D :toast:
Yeah, unfortunately RAM doesn't like to go above 213 Mhz. So I had to use 3/4 divider. I could probably loosen the timing a bit and go maybe 15-20 Mhz more but what I really need is better RAM.Quote:

Btw, I have found, occt can find error more quickly than Orthos ...
@aussie7: Run Orthos with priority 10, so 8hours-10hours are enough to prove rock stable cpu.
