does the f8j have the cold boot issue?
Thats rather odd, the F3 was the best BIOS for me, allowed me to reach 490 FSB no problems.Quote:

New Ballistix doesnt seem to want to reach the same speeds. Runs memtest for hours fine at 460, but is flaky at best in windows...
Going to give F7e a go!
Really could use an S3 bios update... ;)
Any new beta for the DQ6 Bingo?
I think this is normal.. I have the same. All stops for a moment...Quote:

I flashed the F8J and the flash completed. I rebooted and it was fine. I was at stock speeds by the way.
I shutdown and changed the FSB up to where i normally run it and it was fine.
I shutdown and changed the FSB to where it has the cold boot problem and it tried to boot and shutdown......then it turned back on and said it was searching for bios image on hard disk. Then it said it was recovering bios and then it turned off and then back on.
There has been nothing on the monitor since.
I tried clearing cmos removing the battery while i slept and nothing.
I made a floppy and put the F6 bios files on it and hooked up my floppy drive. I turned on the system and it does the same thing. It never lites up the floopy and there is no activity on it.
What is it that makes it go to the floppy for the bios???
Help!!
Yes, but it is for DQ6.... not DS4:(Quote:

Don't worry, flash it! The boards are same I have them both and have tested all DQ bioses on my DS4 ;) That's why I told you which one is the best :) Till now, f7c i very poor performer and clocker.Quote:

Eeks - hopefully that was just bad luck that killed his DS3!
dnottis: Gotta dig that one... I have serious trouble in believing that it wasn't just bad luck, something tells me Gigabyte would test their BIOSes enough to warrant that they won't kill your mobo.
Anyhow, I think I'll be testing that one myself as my new CPU arrives from Intel tomorrow. Can't say I'm having real issues with the F8i either, except that the board only does 493FSB. :)

The F8i is definitely a decent bios.

I could do better with non d9 based ram with f6 bios. F8i sucks ass, my vx don't even run 1000+ any timings. Wurse in fact it seems then with f6.
how can the f8i be good when it forgets bios settings??
Hey dnottis, are there any particular settings you used to get that oc? vMCH? vFSB? vPCI-E? PCE-E mhz? etc?Quote:

Like I said, F8I sucks, that oc is nice but not special for D9 since powerchip geils do better see sig. I hate it when people post something and others asume it's the best thing ever. F8I doesn't allow my vx's to even boot at 1000, f6 does.Quote:

find out your ram timings from the stick and put those values in using ctrl+f1
when in bios main screen, then goto mb intelli tweaker.
put in your timings so the mb doesnt need to power on momentarily and remember and detect what ram you have.
If that doesnt work change the bios battery.
I've become so sad Damn Betaz!!Quote:

I wouldn't use F8J on any P4. I loaded it and my board is dead. It died where it would have usually gone into it's cold boot recovery. It actually booted a few times and then when i tested acold boot it killed itself.
I tried clearing cmos and taking out the battery and it wont put a thing on the screen. It sounds like it is posting but nothing. It is dead!
First Unsheathe memory module power-cable and every expansion on slots except Graphic Card then put one module on DIMM1 and try to boot
if it dosent boot try DIMM2,3,4 + CLRCMOS every time and dont forget while CLRCMOS get out power-cable and battery + short CLRCMOS Pins
if failed set one memory module on DIMM1 get out power-cable + battery and get out CPU for 10min then put it and try again
if failed again try boot with low-end Graphic like GeForce4 MX or lower
if failed again Cleanup your boards and send it to RMA and tell them that you buy a DS3 but it can boot with your CPU I hope they replace it for you (I've experience)
So who has succeeded with F8J ... come on ... I'm going to be a poor college student, so someone do it on his/her mobo
