Figured i would help free your minds :yepp:

looks like a ddr2 board lastviking...
chew, do you know how much the NB clock would affect htt clocking? like i noticed yours was below 1800 on those pics.... could you still reach same htt w/ 2600nb?
Well I just lost my benching HD:rofl:
Lucky I have 2 more that are always disabled.
I tried to copy chews settings a few times and that did it:p:
Ill have to reinstall now.:yepp:
The thing is this could really be dependant on the bios.
A weak bios could really limit you in this test depending on what mobo you are using.
Ive already tried every official bios made for this mobo and the highest Ive seen is 295mhz. And Ive been using this mobo for over a year its been thorugh my 940 and 2 965's the 140 and now the 125w.
Im on M3A79-T Deluxe
Anyway Ill be going for another couple tries soon I wanna at least get the 296mhz out of it.
Good luck guys:up:
Im sure this mobo is going to show its age here
ya i hear that lol....
at summerfest a few years back we got out of the petty show just in time to walk by the stage BOC was playing at and catch them play dont fear the reaper to finish up their encore. it was pretty awesome live
That would be the Asus Crosshair III if im not mistaken ;)
 I said no special mods
Don't worry guys the reason I have this board is to bring this issue to a few manufacturer's attention......this imho certainly needs attention as it appears most manufacturers are leaving users with locked chips high and dry.
Hopefully , MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte are watching and reading because this board is none of those just mentioned.
Guys to prevent corrupting your OS, boot into memtest 86+ first and run the first 3 or 4 tests.
If it does not error in these test you're at least not booting into Windows completely blind -- not saying it will be stable but stable enough to get to the desktop most often.
Looks like i have a memory issue getting high ht to work.
Good enough a reason to get some new ram. :)
 figured it out zeus :)
I was already in windows messing with AOD when I got a hard lock /bsod and reboot, from there I couldnt get back to windows.:shakes:
Even if I had done the memtest it wouldnt have helped, hopefully this info does something for the other guys.
Any help getting these tests to succeed without ruining your OS should be released now.......any other morsels you are keeping to yourself chew?:D
Hmm well, technically some HD's may fare better than others.......
Fresh install and no mobo drivers/SB at all ;)
Try not using AOD but do try motherboard bundled software ocing utility ( AOD maxxes at 399 for me as in that the physical limit of slider bar)
One way to get around a possible physical limit of a board may be to use a dedicated IDE or sata controller card but don't take that as set in stone.
All onboard devices Disabled, not only will they casue you issues but you could easily damage onboard devices.
Understanding port 80 definitions and having a port 80 card helps alot if mobo does not have one onboard :)
FYI i'm booting to OS at 420 HT.
Wow ok sounds good since I am reinstalling os tonight:up:
but Im really curious now, how do these tests with the conditions needed to show these high HTT(no mobo drivers/sb) pertains to everyday settings? or the data being collected? wouldnt using settups like this skew the results where as if everyone just tried with theiir 24/7 setup it would give more useful results?
When you said you were walking a fine line I see what you mean.:p:
Hey chew*, you're cheating with a DDR2 board.
I ordered some Dominator GT's, temptation proved too much for me but i had to convice the wife first. :D
I can boot at much higher bus frequency with loose timings and any other divider than 1:2 is a no go so my issues must be ram related.
Aiming for 400ht+ once the ram gets here. :)
I guess I’ll call this my first attempt until I can try and figure out what else I need to change. I’ve tried two sets of memory with the timings loose (cl9) and somewhat tight (6-6-5) but the best 3d06 score was @7-7-7-18. I’ve tried with the memory, NB and HT-Link set very low (relaxed) up to what is shown it the test SS but 349 was the max it could get it to boot. I tried one time to over clock it a little more in windows using AOD but the system locked so I didn’t try it again. I didn’t try any other bios or OS and the hardware is the same as in the earlier prime test so there is probably more and maybe a lot more to be had but I’ll test those ideas another day.

First, your screenshots are exactly as I had divined. Yes, bios support for high HT speeds is a challenge; perhaps we will help the cause through our efforts here.
Second, many have contributed to both chapters 1 and 2, Daveburt714, crazydiamond, Titan7171, beta, charged3800z24, theoldtimer and still to come I anticipate LastViking, Zeus, equinox, beta FlanK3r and a few others. Thanks always to chew* for his counsel.
Third, as you might have anticipated, there is a destination. An End. But we have traveled this far, let us travel a bit further before all is told.
Voyage on...
I haven't forgotten your challenge. I'll be posting some results in the next 24-48 hours. I've been swamped with a pair of builds the last few days, and I'm waiting on a new set of ram sticks.
just edited my previous post with 17x255htt for 4335mhz
Asus M4A79 Deluxe looks like having max htt 250-260 have used about 5 bios now.. Moving htt in AMD Overdrive 3.1 works great no crashes lower than 260htt. It looks like i need a newer board to get higher htt but i think i save that money for some Christmas gifts this time instead.
I say Good luck to the anothers in this second competition instead! have fun fight well!
congratulations to others and thanks. Chew, u are crazy with your ht-link  !!
