Putting the X58A-UD7 under my SS tomorrow, hopefully ill be getting some nice bclocks! i need every single one i can get :D
So how's it going?
Massman has posted an article about the new features in rev 3.0 of hwbot. Read it here!
Bench hard my XS brothers!
are we on rev3 now?
No, not yet, it will be released in a week I think.
Most important change is that WPrime and PCMark will be divided into ranking per cores of the CPU, so if you have a fast dual core, push it through those benchmarks. Scores that were beaten by slow quads will rise higher in the rankings now.
Same is true for GPUs, if you have three cards you should bench them in 1, 2 and 3 card config, you can get hardware points for every result!
Single card runs will be very valuable, I will be working on 01 during the holidays, that's the only benchmark where Core 2 is still king of the hill! ^^
I wonder what our team's score will look like after the transition to rev 3.
Tried a bit under the singlestage, this seems to be the highest bclock you can archive with this motherboard, another used reported the same wall @ 238, not sure how or why it's so precise, they should be able to fix that :D
anyway, pic:
http://www.thijskramer.nl/tweakersdo...bclock-32M.PNG
237 is not bad, that's 5451 mhz on 23x multi, roughly the max my cpu will do 32M i think. cpu-z / 1M can go quite higher then that, but o well, perhaps a newer bios can fix a few things.
so far im pleased with the results i archieved, it's a keeper
Try raising PCI to 120 mhz then try blck again.
Tried up untill 120mhz pci-e , nothing worked, i suppose i could try a bit higher still, but if i dont get any gains from about 108, i doubt it'll just work all of the sudden.
Well, if i find something better it's alright obviously, but atleast i can easily get the max out of the cpu with 3D, and 32M @ almost 5,5ghz isnt to bad either. so you wont hear me complaining,
just odd everyone has the exact same wall it seems regarding bclock :)
Kingpin is on fire, he managed to get almost all HD 5870 single card records yesterday, now he should have most single GPU records on hwbot. Looks like Team PURE is preparing for rev 3.0...
I'm still waiting for the test server, this will be very interesting.
We get murdered in team and personal points, so we began preparing. We'll come out dropped a few places but should be back to normal towards February. Rev 3 is throwing a monkey wrench into our typical strategy.
Cool looks like I can finally focus on single card and ln2 runs.
i'm betting kingpin has a 5870 @ 1400 backup :D
i think what other teams have are the sheer numbers...
limited number of members will surely put down the points..
we should recruit more guys :) lots have 5xxx series cards :D
Thanks a lot for help Don_Dan and Jor3lBR! I managed to beat the 1st place time in Wprime 32M and 1024M with the T5270.
Did some more Quad Core damage today to get us back to 8k points.
I loved this cpu especially for the PCMArk05 run, if I optimize this thing I can break 29k:
http://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/...ll%20of%20fame
you beat coolaler!!! hahahahahah
:worship::worship::worship::worship:
:worship::worship::worship::worship:
:worship::worship::worship::worship:
was the nb watercooled?
congrats jor
come on 30k
:toast:
Congrats man, those are some very nice runs! That PCMark score is outstanding!
8100 points with the current Hwbot revision here we are!
Wonder whats going to happen with the new revision though...
Edit: I'm in for a Gig X58A-UD7 board... wish me good clocks with it! ;)
NapalmV5 is in the thread! woooo
bench for team.xs :D
linuxman
goodluck with the gigabyte..they definite did a good job with the p55 udx..not sure with the ud7 though...
Really great work, you have shown some strong scores lately!
Nice to see you in this thread, you know you're always welcome to join us. :)
~ 10500 points...
We'll still be ranked 12th though, PC Games Hardware will drop down, but i4memory will be slightly ahead of us. We might be able to get them with a decent push...
:wasntme:
By the way, why is JMAX at 9k now?!
Well, doesn't matter anyway.... :D
If it does 238bclk thats good enough for now!
If I have a W3540 or something similar thats plenty of room for my Cascade unit.
For some reason my classi wouldn't go over 206...
I guess it got damaged or something.
Don_Dan
Sounds cool, I'll have to look over that guide posted again and plan accordingly to get my score up... :yepp:
wooo 5digits sounds good :D
you'll lose 50pts+?
wooot stummerwinter is numero uno again :D he's kicking pure ***....LOL
i like the battle on top :D
** i still have vantage to run on my 8800gt ... i hope i can get into top 3 :D
I'll lose about 30+points... Linuxfan will lose even more, but most guys will gain points.
Benchbrothers took some points away from Andre, that's why stummerwinter is on top right now! :yepp:
We'll see.. I have a ton of results that I need to now post that will help me a lot in rev3 now that I know how its going to work.. I"ll get back up there fast!
The 5870 results I posted recently aren't in rev3 right now but will be updated and It'll help a lot.... :yepp:
Thanks Napalm! The 1231 really helps man!
Thanks Linux and good luck with the UD7 I heard it's a great board! I still don't get the changes with Rev3 either need to read the forums more.
Thanks Don! I wonder if I'm going to lose or gain points
Jor3lBR,
Its going to be released officially very soon... What Don_Dan was mentioning was only on the test server.
You're not missing any thing on the hwbot home page. ;)
You'll do well in rev3. Keep on pushing!
You'll do well in rev 3, the test server is down again, but apparently point calculation was changed again. Most bugs have been found and RB has fixed them, but there will still be a lot of work left for the result moderation team, soooo many results are assigned to the wrong categories.
The real server should be updated soon.
*RB is currently loading a dump of the fresh scores onto the test server, it will be available again in a few hours.*
Wohoo, hwbot is down and updating the server!
Is this the official V3 upgrade? :D
i'm excited too :D
massman's twitter 4hrs ago
Quote:
hwbot Just before the switch to revision 3, HWBOT hits the 1000
teams mark!
Anyone want to bet who is going to get this trophy? :D
RB stop teasing! we know its pure scandal..lol
Whats the estimated time that the server is going to finish its "about 1/2 way through" status and come back to life? Midnight tonight? :D
45minutes agoQuote:
hwbot First twitter on the new HWBOT ... not accessible yet: still
squashing bugs
RB ....estimated time pls :D
Yay! I see it was up a second ago! Looks great!
I'll check it out more in the morning! :P
I see its time to hit the single card benching...
Beautiful job guys massa RB etc!
I LOVED the new achievements medals!
Give us some time to clean up the wprime rankings, please :p:
RB and Massman - Loving the look of the new revision
:( looks like I lost a lot of global points
I gained - but will loose probably 10 points from what I have now q
I knew it would be Kingpin, and it looks like I was right! :D
When he took all the 5870 records he made a good start for rev 3.
Massman, awake at 4:45AM.... Get some sleep man! :)
RB and you have done great work, I love the new revision!
I just made a submission, check out that global rank! :D
hahah 1st of 2..lol
woooot now its time to get some ati5xxx lovin....will be a long time..
woot more hardwarepoints :D
kingpin is rockin ..wooot
PCMark 05 is ranked by cores now, so I guess there are only a few entries for every category, be it 1x, 2x etc.
Damn, I have been pushed down to 2nd.
Only 430 points to go to Top 10 in the team rankings!
What I'm missing is the function that you could look at your team mates' scores, which was under "My Team"/"Team profile" before. Plus the team rankings for every benchmark.
I justed checked in at HWBot to see what damage Rev3 has done and was really p**ssed off. Not only lost lots of points but after working my ass off to get HWMaster award thats gone too. Seems to me like it only rewards the big guns and the little guys get screwed. I`m wondering if its even worth bothering anymore.
i saw the pcmark runs by jor...weird scoring...
..lets bug the hardworking waffles after they wake up :)
Hm, many hardware grinders in Germany are thinking the same... :-/
Please don't quit, the new revision doesn't favour someone benching unpopular hardware, that's what made you lose so many points. I lost >30 points as well, because most submissions that were worth 1 or 2 points in rev 2 are now down to 0.1.
You can gain a lot more points than before by placing top 5 in popular categories, but these will be dominated by extreme cooling guys very soon, I'm afraid.
Maybe focus on 01 for now, at least Clarkdale won't beat your scores with E8600.
LoL , i went up from about 115 to 195 points , especially my 5.4ghz 920 score went up from like 9 to like 33. sick
True I was aiming the Hardware Junkie with 50 gold cups but now I dunno if it's worth it. I wonder what will be the replacement for those achievements.
Don't quit VENDETTA!
It's pretty sad almost on top 20 globally and getting miserable global or none. Quote HWbot "PCMark 2005 4x CPU rank: 27th out of 842, but no points as his 2x CPU submission earns more points. "
I busted my a.. off to get to top global on a 4x cpu and now I get no points for it because x2 is the king now...
Like Linux said time to change strategy... ;)
just been looking on hwbot and you as a team only need 700pts to move 4x places up the rankings
it's said that there will be more achievements in the future
Studying the score algorithym. I see alot of stuff I didn't bench before and have no results for worth some points. Will get to it in the next few weeks :)
Ok i'll bite I've already spent over an hour and yet to find the magical $200 700 point cards.
According to bot this was supposed to go by popularity make the 8800 the most pupular with over 800 submissions and its worth crap for points.
So far i see the 5870 leading the pack for points....show me where i can get 2 for $200 :D
Ok, not 700 points, 670 points. Found both cards on ebay for a grand total of $172.
"There is no spoon" or "Think outside the box" or "insert witty comment" ;)
5870 and 8800GTX, I think. One for global, one for hardware.
There's a :banana::banana::banana:load of competition in those categories, though ... the card's got boint-potential, but you'll have to go the extra mile for sure.
Thanks a lot, I think we will still give our best, we'll see what we'll be able to achieve this year. :)
Big props to the team for pushing MaxxMem, we should have the highest team average by now.
I have no idea what Chiller did to get almost 5000 points, this is ridiculous. :shakes:
Edit: Massman, maybe you read this, will you make community rankings for every benchmark in the new revision? That's something I liked a lot in rev 2, please bring it back!
- Score of Chiller is weird for sure: Latency result is 3x too low. Either bug or issue, lucky the benchmark is still in testing phase
- Community ranking for every benchmark has been requeste by me even before launch of Rev3. Didn't make it, but will be added for sure!
11ns latency is just crazy, it's the same thing that happened to Everest when i7 was launched if I recall correctly. It's possible that the same bug is apparent with Gulftown, too bad there are no other results made with Gulftown yet.
Thanks for the community rankings, I'm looking forward to them!
Let's hope the bug isn't due to the usage of Gulftown as that would make it necessary to use new versions when a new technology is released. Wprime experience proves that to be complicated.
Hardware points have been recalculated based on a new algorithm, bench hard guys, now we need 400 points to rise 4 places!
Okay, points have been recalculated yet again, 200 points to 9th rank in the team rankings.
Just noticed that too! We are at 11k now. :D
I have been researching and figuring out which hardware I need to bench next...
Rev 3 did change a lot of things but I like the new theme and will get used to the new ranking system. :)
Edit: Only my hardware points changed... how is everything ranked now?
alibabar, our GPU king, just confirmed to me that he is quitting the hwbot. He lost over 1000 points and 4 rankings. Many of his multicard benchies, made on a chiller and with CPU under single-stager, are now worth closely to 0 points. Perhaps you fail to realize how much work is involved in dual-card subzero benching, especially with ancient cards such as X1950Pro which can, in some cases, only be overclocked via BIOS editing.
Another good HW grinder, Matti, also announced he is done with hwbot.
I have to add I don't like hwbot staff's attitude towards users. Especially with your doctrine "If you don't like it, stop using it". There are 30.000+ users and I'm pretty sure there is a vast majority that doesn't like this new point system.
Make a pool and ask people what they think about it, I dare you!
P.S.: Yes, I gained over 400 points in hwmaster category, jumping from 20th to 11th. But that's not the point. I'm just stating facts.
Do note that there was a problem with multi-GPU calculation to begin with. In Rev2, the weight of the SLI/CF category was calculated based on the popularity of the entire hardware category, so including the single GPU results. This was not in the design plan and a long-uncovered coding bug, which has been added to the Rev3 fix.
There's no such doctrine, although you can obviously make people believe there is. All what has been said is: "The new revision has only been up for 24h, so analysing the game before having even played it leads to conclusions based on assumptions based on other people's assumptions. If you can not live with the revision entirely, there's always the option just to leave HWBOT. If you want to provide feedback based on thorough inspection, play the game, analyse the flaw and provide the feedback".
lol sounds the same as tiborr's statement to me hehehe ... it's not that hard to see where Rev3 is going........you dont have to "use" it for a year to see if it suits you lol :p:
I think you should start dealing with individual cases and explain to them with a practical example or two why they made their mind up wrong rather than post a comment like that....which could be seen as insulting imo
My statement has the premise 'unwilling to try out the new revision' included whereas Tiborrr draws the picture that this premise isn't present. The key difference is that my statement doesn't contain a "GFY"-component, whereas Tiborrr suggests there is.
No one has ever said that there's nothing to improve or to adjust, however complains such as "this rev sucks because I lost points" helps literally no one. It's irritating for the user who complains and not useful for us either.
Anyone having trouble going to HWBot. Been tryin to get on all day. Just keeps telling me all links are broken.
Updating physical server at the moment.
Ok, thanks. Any idea how long before Its up and running again?
I have no ETA, RB is doing the change at the datacenter.
Lot's of changes in rev3. Positive for me, but I feel sad for someone like alibabar, losing all that 'work' is just depressing. I applause the hwbot team in optimizing the boints concept and daring to innovate. I also agree with awarding popular hardware more, but it automatically means that un-popular hardware is less interesting to work with and hence will also never become popular anymore.....
The extra weight-factor for popular hardware could also be something like a multiplier applied on the rev2 system, therefore keeping boints like it is and increasing output for people picking popular hardware? I have lots of old stuff laying around that wants to be benched, but running SuperPI32M and wPrime1024M on a heavily overclocked Pentium 3 system is now an investement of 5-8 hours of work ( of course including some almost completed benches, common case when searching the limits ) for 0.2 boints? Even on the popular Pentium 3 hardware not everbody is benching SuperPI32M and wPrime1024M because they take over 1.5 hours to complete, hence resulting in even less boints.
Just my first observations.
I'm sure there will be some changes to rev 3, but in general I like what rev 3 means for an average overclocker. Now you can get some points on air cooling, which was almost impossible before.
The people that are complaining now were just getting too used to benching rare stuff without any competition and getting rewarded for it. In my opinion, this is not what benching should be about, the value of a score can only be estimated if you have a basis for comparison.
The only problem I see is that categories which aren't popular now won't get popular in the future, sure, regular competitions will changed that, but you can't make as many competitions as there are different P3s for example.
The system should be changed to award points for the first five ranks, so that cups are a bit more valuable than 0,1 points. Something like 1.5, 1.1, 0.8, 0.6, 0.4 and regardless of how many entries this should be the same until there are 10 or 15 or maybe even 20 entries, then you can start awarding points based on the new algorithm.
Such a long post, while the only thing I wanted to say to the team was: BENCH!!!! We're 43 points behind i4memory! :yepp:
Let's make it happen and enter Top 10 of the team rankings!
I'm afraid I just spend too much time on this hobby... ;)
It's time for an update again:
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/6...january3rd.jpg
At first, \/ENDE][A and me ( ^^ ) pushing a Geforce 8800 GTS 320 and a 8800 GT 512 respectively, both of us earning some points. :)
Elano is still running his Q9650 and manages to score a big 28k in PCMark 05, thus setting a new WR for this CPU, earning more than 9 global points and almost 6 hardware points. Good work!
_Datura_, our P3 grinder, is working on a P3 1.266GHz now, already setting a new WR for this CPU in 1M and CPU-Z.
Then there is thebluemeanie1, who is running his Q9650 @ 4725MHz under water, scoring 10min 31s in 32M and almost 29k in 3DMark 05 with a 9800 GTX at 850/1250MHz.
We're at 11237 now, i4memory has 11260 points, keep pushing guys, we're really close to entering Top 10!
PS: I also ran MaxxMem at my 3D settings and I think this is the new record for DDR2.... :D
Thanks for the update Don_Dan! Love to see everybody working hard getting nice hardware boints with REV3!
I can studied it a little and know how I can pick up a few nice hardware points... just gotta get the hardware now! :)
We can get the in the top 10!
Im waiting for the 5870 lightning to do some proper damage :D , already fiddled about with my 5770 , ran @ 1080mhz core and 1350mhz mem and beat the GPU score of the number one, didnt really check out LOD yet, cant seem to find any info about it with vantage, i thought you could gain a few hunderd points with it? anyhow, when i have LN2 again, i will put my cpu under cold, gpu under cold, and get some 1200mhz core speeds going :D going to invest more time in 3dmark05, see if i can prepare myself for that benchmark, so at benchday i can improve my 06 / vantage, and check out 3dmark05 and perhaps some 03 / aqua for the points!
[QUOTE=Don_Dan;4182314]I'm afraid I just spend too much time on this hobby... ;)
Can you think of a better hobby:D
I would have a lot more scores but, i`ve been sent the wrong board again. Some mix up in the warehouse with order codes. Hopefully will get right board later this week(third time lucky). Also i really need to start volt moddin` my cards, getting beat a lot by modded cards. Gonna pick up a soldering iron this week and give it a try.
Forget about using LOD in Vantage, a wise man once said "high card clocks are king in this benchmark"! ;)
Make sure you have a nice LOD value for 03 though!
Of course not! :D
Was that the P55 board again? You should think about ordering from another shop next time!
I need to look into voltmodding too, I already have a soldering iron and all the stuff you need, but I don't dare to do it without someone teaching me how to do it. I know, I'm a n00b.
When I ran some benches on my 8800 GT yesterday and the day before, I noticed an odd behavior of the card. I tested 3D stability with 05 cause I was under the impression it is the hardest benchmark, so my clocks should be stable for all the other benchmarks as well. I couldn't be more wrong.
03 and AM3 would crash at the same scenes ( 03 when the sword starts to gleam in Troll's Lair, AM3 when the camera spins around the submarine ) when running it, I had to lower my GPU clocks considerably to get it stable, 01 was a just run at safe clocks to have a score, since I was freezing in the cold. ( Ambient temps were ~-6°C )
Did you ever encounter something like this on your G92 cards?
I think the card's memory is to be blamed, what do you think. Still, it's weird I could pass 05 but none of the other benchmarks at high clocks.
i have the same problems....nvidia vrams aren't that good....i'm not sure if its the power going thru them...or what but...ddr3 does get hot and when its hot it sorta underperforms...my fans blasting thru some heatsinks do help.....
I'm going to participate in the HWBOT Geforce 4 contest. I've searched for GF4 cards and bought 2x Ti4200 and 1x Ti4600. The idea is to get phase on the GPU on some TECS or WC on the memory.
I have very little experience in 3DMark2003 tweaking, I read some stuff about LOD and other tweaks. Does somebody got a good starting point for me to get the best out of it (OS / OC tool etc)? I understand that 03 is very little CPU dependent. Will my good old s754 3700+ singlecore provide enough CPU power?
Time for me to get back to work :)
Prepping OS's as I type.
Dunkin donuts ln2 pouring cups make an appearence once again :p:
Something about 2400 watts of power is just liberating.

Bench partner oversees things and makes sure I don't screw anything up, plus she keeps the cat out, can't have cats, shag rugs or wool sweaters in the pc room now can we :p:

Let's all have a moment of silence guys for a fellow team member that has passed.

I didn't know Loonym's name...but farewell Jon. You got the signature in XS that only touched me. Bench in the sky bro.
