Once the Vcore is manually set in the BIOS, Gigabyte keeps the Vcore at the level set even with EIST/C1E activated unlike Biostar/DFI (using CPU VID Add) which drops the Vcore when idle resulting in lower idle temps. Not sure if this is what you are experiencing.

Are the other volt lines, viz. 3.3/5v, stable on your mobo? This question is also directed at BuGjAE too.

http://roflsaurus.com/users/homeless...0h38-Volt5.png
Using a corsair TX750w if that makes a difference. Any bios other than 7b doesn't have normal ripple in occt tests for me (haven't tried F6 though)
Looks good so it seems that there are perhaps both good and bad rev 1.0 mobos out there, wonder if it is fixed for all rev 1.1 mobos. Issue is unlikely to be PSU related cos I was using a proven Corsair HX620 unit which did not have such problems with other mobos tested. Now I am just using a lower end AcBel E2 470 on the rev 1.1 for testing yet the lines are all stable.
Corsair Dominators 2x2GB PC2-8500 (2.1Volts, version 1.1) should be able to run 1:1 with a FSB of 533 right? I'm having difficulty with settings for 8x533.
@bluestang, sure bro.I think my GEIL 1066 2x2GB can do 1:1 FSB 533 also but I still can't get it stable. even try to increse VTT or MCH core is not affective.
hey guys i have a ud3p mobo and q9550 i have questions about how to setup these properly
i am running 471 x 8.5 = 4ghz with 1.29...v in bios crucial pc6400 4-4-4-12

Thought I would post some pics of my new build using the UD3R. Quite a nice board for the money. I'm starting OCing tonight through the weekend.
http://img154.imagevenue.com/loc798/..._122_798lo.jpghttp://img13.imagevenue.com/loc663/t..._122_663lo.jpghttp://img177.imagevenue.com/loc461/..._122_461lo.jpghttp://img152.imagevenue.com/loc775/..._122_775lo.jpg http://img179.imagevenue.com/loc371/..._122_371lo.jpg
The board came with the F5 bios. Could someone let me know what bios is best for a Q6600 OC, I understand F5 isn't to great?
No, this is what I'm experiencing, the 7c temp difference between the two. FYI, one core fails Prime95 Small FTT after 16 mins. Is there any settings I should change other then upping the vcore? From the Gigabyte screenshot, can you see any settings that are abnormally high for the given speeds that might be resulting in the temp increase?

Maybe core temp and real temp have different Tj, Max Values?
Also maybe when u put the UD3P in u didn't mount the CPU heatsink as good as u did on the Tpower I45? When I put my IFX-14 onto my UD3P I stuffed it up and my first core was 12C hotter then it should have been, so I just re-mounted the IFX-14 and it fixed it.
Also by looking at those settings they seem alright to me, but I'm not an expert on 45nm's.
So if in ET6 vtt=1.24 and CPU Ref=.76 and MCH ref=.70, then in BIOS vtt=1.24 and CPU ref=.781 (63%) and MCH ref=.868 (70%). Hopefully this is right cuz then I'm getting the idea and a special thanks to a573573 and PanhingIII. :)
I thought the MCH reference had to = 0.67 or 67%?
Guys i ran intelburn test for 20 times at max stress result was stable :D
do these settings look ok?

any update on the freeze after resume from S3 (suspend to ram) state with bios F7b.. the mobo reboot after wake up whenever its OC'ed on bios F4...
are u experiencing such resume failure with your OC'ed system and the new bios ?
thanks for your update on this.
I am Loving this board so far. Just started playing but so far I can boot and play within vista64 8.5x525 (Q9550) and still playing. have not made any adjustments yet. I am just amazed cause the board this is replacing had a hard time getting above 450
I'm a total rookie with Gigabyte boards, and i'm having a hard time managing the BIOS.
Looking for 450FSB stable, which should be np on this board. I get a quick BSOD in windows when going for 450FSB, wether it's set in BIOS or EasyTune. Can somebody give me a template.
And can somebody tell me where NB and SB voltage is? Is that MCH Core?
NB is MCH, SB is ICH.
Can't even boot with 1.5NB
Alright I can get into Windows with my Q9550 @ 4250MHz (8.5x500) no problem, however its only P95 stable for about a minute. It doesn't hardlock or reboot, it ether closes the P95 app automatictly or just says the threads failed. Here are my settings. Any obvious settings I should change other than vcore? For the GTL refs I multiplied CPU VTT and MCH voltage by .63 each.
http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/4829/4250ac0.jpg
Try setting MCH volts to 1.4v+, u r running a quad at 500FSB.
@bluestang , try this setting should able boot up at 533 FSB but not guarantee to stable:)

i have a quick question for you guys, im gonna try vista x64 and im gonna use 8 gigs of ram, do i need to use more MCH volts than i needed for 4 gigs?ill be using two kits of 2x2 gigs of g.skill pc 8800 pi.
I've got my rig all set and running at stock speeds, and I'll continue to look over everyone's settings here (I'm planning to do a modest overclock to take my G0-step Q6600 up to 1333FSB). Before I do it though, I've got a question.
Most of my overclocking experience is old-school, and it used to sometimes affect the spec for HDD controllers, risking data corruption issues. This wouldn't concern me much if I was running in legacy or AHCI mode like most are here, but I have two of my drives in a RAID-1. Does anyone have any experience with overclocking in this setup, and are there any special BIOS settings I should keep in mind?
low to mid fsb and 333 straps (both memory multi 2.0B or 1:1 and 2.40B or 5:6) you won't need to use high mch core volts,
266 straps like 450fsb 2.50A or 4:5 DDR2-1125 you'll probably need more.
if i recall, i posted something like 4-5 overclock settings that also uses the same 8GB of the same ram kits you mention,
so if you want to check the threads back a bit then you should see some of example of the mch core volts that i use.
it's better yet if you already have the ram kits with you, then try it and if you have any problem please post your setting.
pangingIII,thanks again for your quick response.i just installed the ram.booted up fine.now im going to test them for errors, then i'll start the fun(overclocking)thanks for the info.i'll post back with results.
Alright for the MCH GTL ref, do you recommend .63x or .65x when calculating what to set it to? I've been using .63x but I've seen some people recommend .65x? Also is .63x the right one to use for the CPU on a 45nm quad?
Just wondering if anyone else, had issues making POST with older GPU's on these mobo's... when trying to use a perfectly fine, non-molested X1950pro... i cannot OC, and have to reset CMOS every shutdown, to successfully load windows..
...sound weird to anyone else? I have swapped all other hardware to determine, it was the GPU.. swapping GPU to a PCI-e 2.0 card, fixed the issues.
i always use the ICH controller in raid mode, all of my drives that i use in my overclocking test on this board, are either raid drive(s) or a single drive with raid ready,
and i have never killed a single Windows installed. i don't be so careful either. however, all my overclocking test are not that very high.
i think the board's BIOS (include its IMSM OROM) that i've been using are pretty solid, however, if you are not familiar with this new board and ram (either its voltage or timing setting and what not) , like mention before, you may want to test your ram each time you make an overclock attempt before you attempt to boot into Windows.
other than that i don't know what more to suggest.
heres a quick run.used my same volt settings, then ran linX good thing i only ran 3 test, each one took 6 1/2 minutes. http://i40.tinypic.com/nnqxwk.jpg
radaja, that looks good to me.
once you settle with an overclock that you like to use the most then test it more thoroughly, otherwise you will spend too much time waiting.
since 8GB ram system there may be more chance for a ram soft error, so if your file and data are the most important thing for you, you should check your overclock setting again and again and mostly check the system memory more with both DOS and Windows based memtest program.
BuGjAE, no boot at these settings. Tried a higher vcore also no boot. Just tries once to boot, then reboots to safe/backup BIOS settings. Any ideas? Think its RAM settings or most likely CPU & MCH Refs?
PangingIII or Zodden, you have ran 8x533 with Dominator ram right? What am I missing?
thanks for the info, pangingIII. i'll do what you suggest, even though i have nothing important to save or worry about.i just use my computer for overclocking and surfing the web.anyways heres my next one.same voltage settings.http://i42.tinypic.com/9u5k4n.jpg
nice overclock radaja, run a intelburn test on it at max stress :)
bluestang,
i've never tried 2x2GB Dominator, but anyway, can you boot in to bios with anything below the 533fsb? can you boot into Windows at 520fsb and with ram 1:1?
hollaback04,here you go.it took awhile, each test was about 22 1/2 minutes long. at maximum stress level, in task manager it showed it was using 7.35 gigs of ram to start.by the fifth run it was 7.13 gigs.as you can see,it took about 1hr 47minutes to complete 5 runs. http://i39.tinypic.com/1zg6m9s.jpg
PangingIII, BuGjAE and all others...thanks for the info. It looks like I'm on my way to getiing this. I little more tweaking and testing still needed though. Is 333 or 400 strap better at 500+ FSB? I would like get to 533 FSB with ram 1:1 for my setup. That or what I have now should be fine for 24/7 right? Thanks again guys and I'll keep ya posted on my results. On top of Orthos I also ran SuperPi 32M @ 12m04.937s.
http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/4...1050pl9db1.jpg
Could someone please tell me how to set the memory performance level through the BIOS?
Cause when I run a FSB over 475 memset doesn't show me the performance level and I can't change it, therefore I get ultra bad memory bandwidth.
Thanks
fatguy1992,go into the advance timing control section, then in channel A advance timings its called static t-read value.do the same for channel B.
Thanks radaja :)
I'll give it a go :D
Does anyone know why I can't get my UD3P to post if I use a PL lower then 10?

Sorry I don't know how to do one of those list thingys everyone else does :(.
You need to not leave your memory subtimings on auto, you need to set them manually.
anyone using f7a or f7b bios yet?
@fatguy1992, you should use any other strap than 333 may try 400 strap ,because strap 333 is more tighten timing RAM if you gonna use PL 9, or u may try FSB:DRAM 1:1 with 400 strap and muti 2.00 D basiclly, anyway increase a littlebit bit MCH core to get boot more easier.
OK i'll give it a go.
I've just been sent Bios: ep45ud3p.F7c
I've got to goto work now but I'll upload it for download in around 5 hours.
i would run the memory on the 266, or 333 strap to get the best performance, 400 is looser, and easier to run memory, but you will take a peformance hit, try the 333 strap. Sorry fatguy, what memory sticks you running ? and what speed do you want ?. Most of the time you need to set the subtimings loose, to get it to boot, then work you way down on tighting them up.
I'm using my CellShock PC2-8500 CL5's that do 1066MHz w/ less then 2.0v. I just want to run 1066MHz with PL8.
Well I'm looking at a greedy Q6600, VID 1.3250 Two cores want at least 1.50625v set in the bios with LLC enabled to boot to 3.6GHz. Temps around 60c at full load, 32c idle. Very stable so far though.
What's the max Vcore I should push on a 65nm Q6600 on water, 1.6v ?

Also I got my PL to 7 :D:D:D
Thanks for the help guys :D
Nice PL. 1.55v... is that in the Bios or as seen in CPU-Z or similar?
I'm about to start tightening things up here. Can anyone assist with some recommended settings?-4GB Dominator DDR2-8500 I'm pretty much on auto.
BTW. I'm using the red slots.

When I said 1.55v I meant the one in Windows (CPU-Z).
MaXThReAT,
for ram at 1066MHz you can tight tRFC down quite a bit, it should be fine to set tRFC 54-60 at bios, but retest your ram again for vdimm increasing, if needed.
the board itself with right supply voltage is able to boot 2x2GB tRFC 50 (or might even lower, but i've not tried yet) all the way to almost DDR2-1200 speeds.
however, it depends a whole lot on you ram kit, whether it requires how much more vdimm volts or it still able to run nicely with a tight tRFC.
also try this...
leave the Performance Enhance at [ Standard ]
and set 5-5-5-15, and leave Advanced Timing Control section alone,
then save bios setting and boot into Windows and post the memset window.
and you can then first try using and setting the standard momory timings in bios, but this time change the Performance Enhance to [ Turbo ],
you will then get a more tighter tRD (Static tRead Value) or PL value in the memset program.
I heard good things about P45 UD3 mobos. I will give it a try.
For the record, I am now on a Maximus II Formula, and with BIOS 1901, 500FSB is a very easy going for 24/7 use on quads...
Once I get my Giga P45-UD3, I will let you guys know how it compares to the Maximus II Formula.
This is my 24/7 setting on Maximus II Formula.

my trfc is set to auto and its setting my memory at 68,with my 8gigs.in everest im scoring 11000's in write and copy but only 9958 in read. would dropping trfc down to about 55 improve the read score?i know i should just try it, but i have to go to work, was just hoping someone had the answer. thanks
Running Q6600 on Gigabyte EP45-UD3p with F5 bios here.
Have a slight problem. Whenever I boot into Windows, EasyTune 6 reads the CPU reference as set to 0.67V, despite me setting the value in the bios to 0.83V. Which one is wrong?
Hello All,
I just finished putting together my new computer this weekend. The UD3P is awesome. With my old board (evga 680i) i was only able to get 3.5 GHz with over 1.35vcore to keep it stable. I am now sitting pretty at 3.8GHz at the stock at 1.25volts.
I will be posting my BIOS template to get some more advice. The options in the BIOS are almost overwhelming!
I am running:
E8500 E0 stepping 3.8GHz 1.2v 9.5 multiplier
BIOS: F6
G.Skill PC2 8800 2 X 2GB 1100MHz (currently running at 1066) 1.9v

Has anyone tried to see if you enable Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) in BIOS and choose a profile if it will read the EPP settings of the RAM. I show a Profile 2 in my XMP and that coincides with what Memset shows as EPP #2 in the SPD window. I wonder how much of the setting it would read from the EPP profile.
Besides the ET6 problem for some reason Prime95 craps out within minutes, (as of the last attempt 5 minutes), yet at the same clock speeds and voltages IntelBurnIn test passed 25 runs before i shut it off. Same thing in the past at 3.8, despite that I had no problem either running Crysis or Gta IV (more cpu intensive then crysis) for hours. wtf?
im on my lunch hour, but heres a new one.will test more after work.http://i42.tinypic.com/2hfp3b5.jpghttp://i42.tinypic.com/j8z59y.jpghttp://i39.tinypic.com/szbfc8.jpg
Thanks, it's looking a bit better now. I'm currently set on Turbo with a tRFC=54, PL=8, TRD=8
Still not the best bandwidth though.

Below is my BIOS template for my EP45-UD3P
F6 BIOS.
I am running a E8500 E0 stepping.
RAM is G.Skill PC2-8800 2X2GB 5-5-5-15 1.8V-1.9V
Please help me get to 4.0GHz. I am having a hard time knowing what to adjust.
Thanks for your advice!!

with your hardware (CPU and RAM) there can/will be number of bios settings that you can get a 4GHz overclocked.
anyone who are using this specific hardware can suggest otherwise.
Let's try this (below) setting first, it's not the hardest or easiest overclock,
it should increases overall performance in both system cpu and ram with less stress on system hardware components.

*These values will not automatically change, as far as i can see. you can use either Auto or Normal options.
the values will only change when you set the value manually.
if you cannot boot the system with the above setting, please post back and i'll have you try a different setting.
if you find that you can boot and also get a stable system okay, post back anyway, when you post also include 1) ET6 window, 2) Memset program window, 3) SuperPI 32MB window.
just saw BuGjAE's post, so you can try both settings.
@pangingIII , this is i can go so far with F7c FSB @533x8 1:1, with tRFC 50 ,Pl9
I hope to go around fsb 550x8 1:1 ,not sure my ram can do, Any advice from you i really appreciate. Thks in adv.:)
oniL,here you go.and remember this is with 8gigs of ram so you might not need the same volts.MCH? might be a little high but it's what got it stable for me. http://i44.tinypic.com/1zclguq.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/30uwxms.jpghttp://i40.tinypic.com/20u7lok.jpghttp://i43.tinypic.com/20iw7q0.jpghttp://i42.tinypic.com/5zdu8j.jpg
@ radaja
it looks very good but your motherboard temperature @ 15 ° C provides for me to open windows and cold Roomtemp.with 1.42 V-core is not the temps below 45 ° C to hold.
but no matter still looks good.
please forgive me if i tell you what you already know, i think, just like you already did 533fsb, you will have to try it first to see if the system with the existing ram kit can handle booting 550fsb and then it seems to pass memtest fine?, then there's a good chance that the system will be able to run stable at 550fsb.
but if you find that it's a little harder to do it, i would suggest you might want to first try with the Standard mode and set 5-5-5-15 and also leave tRRD-tWTR-tWR-tRFC-tRTP settings to Auto and set tRD value in bios to 11-12, then after you have a stable overclock check back to all these bios settings.
siyah, dont quite understand what your saying.but concerning my temps,i have a 4500rpm fan mounted on my NB. another one on the mem(even though it not needed with this set).two 1900rpm fans on my true in push / pull.1 vantec tornado 4800rpm in front intake which sucks air from the dryer vent hose thats hooked up to my airconditioner.when the air conditioner kicks in the motherboard temps drop to about 12c -13c. where as the cpu temp will hover around 40c with prime95 and 54c with intelburntest, but when the air conditioner kicks off the temp are more like 19c-22c for the motherboard sensor and cpu the cpu sensor is around 47c for prime95 and 60 for IBT.heres a pic of the setup.and one at idle.mind you i have stuck sensors on my cpu, they dont go lower than 39c-27c. http://i41.tinypic.com/2db71pg.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/34693kn.jpg
@ Jsunn
Set your Vtt to stock 1.2 then lower that MCH Ref to .68-.70 then raise your Vtt back to where you had it.
Then you will see .68-.70 in EasyTune instead of .76 which is the default %

Should work now. :)
Any updates for the EP45T UD3P Nelly ?
I have just purchased the Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R DDR3 version to run on my QX9650 with Corsair 1800Mhz RAM.
Have been using the Asus Maximus Extreme that has been a hunk of crap with my QX so fingers crossed this Gigabyte thingy will be much better.
I will try to get some results once I get my NB water block.. (which are like Gold dust for these boards btw and had to order one all the way from Germany ;)
I have always used ASUS mobos b4 so Im sure it will be a nice learning curve or me.
I notice alot of people using the 'easy tune' utility on this thread. Is that what most people are using to OC rather than the BIOS or is it just to show volts etc etc???
@ radaja
Oh Man this is really sick and Crass simultaneously with an air conditioning to cool
Thanks for all of the help. The problem I was having is that I dont' know what depends on what with all of the different BIOS settings. I have read through this thread a number of times but I am still a bit overwhelmed.
Thanks for the help.
-J
Yep all the references depend on other settings and change if you change other settings.
Like Dram voltage changes all of the memory references to 1/2 of the Dram voltage if left on auto.
The Cpu ref and MCH ref depend on the VTT, so like said above if you set the ref's with VTT at stock 1.2 then change the VTT ET6 will still show them as the same(as they would be with 1.2 VTT) even though they are altered
@pangingIII ,Thanks so much about yr recommended ,I haven't not much OC RAM exprience, just wana hear some opnion :) , I search all around about my ram Ocing and found
no info, 550 MHZ 1:1 I can boot up but not stabil with memtest or orthos even PL 11 and auto subtimming ,I 'll try later, anyway yr step to checking RAM stabil is so great appreciate!
so far I can go 538 MHZ 1:1
you may want to first save the existing configured CMOS to a profile in BIOS or save it as file in a USB pen drive.
and try this next, change tRD value in bios on both Ch A and B setting from 8 to 7, and see if you can still booting to bios and then into Windows?
if you can, then retest for ram and overall stability again.
in the case that you like to tweak your memory timing in Windows and then take the values setting into BIOS,
here's an example of the memory timing values in Bios vs. Memset (or in Everest's Motherboard > Chipset)
as far as i can see, it's just like the owner of Memset program used to explain somewhere around these forum.
20-8 = 12
13-8 = 5
the tRTP value in BIOS is seems to always has the value with +2 in Windows.
this's the exactly memory timing values that i set in bios...
5-5-5-15 / (in the Advanced section) 5-5-12-70-5 / tRD 7 on both Ch A and B.
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3...4130023eo8.png
please also note that, you have a different hardware than mine, so you may want to disregard my voltage setting values that you see in ET6.
I notice alot of people using the 'easy tune' utility on this thread. Is that what most people are using to OC rather than the BIOS or is it just to show volts etc etc???
anything you see im doing wrong please let me know. oc 3.6ghz. if i try 3.8ghz with 1.4v blue screen, i really want to get 3.8-4.0ghz on my q9550e0

i don' know about other people, but for myself, i always included ET6's voltage page when i take screenshot, it's mostly for my own voltage setting records. and it might be useful to mke them visible to other.
i use ET6 (to replace SetFSB) sometimes, like when i want to get above 600fsb in Windows or when i want to see how far a ram kit can overclock, i only use ET6 for something like this.

Great thread guys:up:
Just getting going on the GA-EP45-UD3R
Am running on air at the moment and have been suprised by
the low CPU temps Any one else noticed this?
Well, I seemed to have corrupted my registry from the multiple BSOD that I was getting trying to O/C. I had to reinstall Windows last night. :dammit:
Going to try again tonight.

Shoulda used system restore by booting from the dvd and then choosing repair my Computer, then system restore.
Good luck man!
Have you tried booting at stock or lower OC. It's not unusual to get lost user or can't find registry messages, which thankfully go away when oc is lowered.Quote:
