Yep c1e and EIST disabled.Quote:
my guess is the ram....try different kind.
i presume you checked that C1E and EIST is disabled.
Trying a stick of Gskill now. Experienced same problems with Gskill to start with. FSB limited to 290. Obviously tried various dividers and what not.
Now out of the blue, I'm gradually climbing again. Currently at 320x9. Really don't know what the problem is.
Just wondering if I over did it expecting to be able to kick off with 420x9 immediately. Almost like something tripped out.
Hopefully I'm back en route.

Did you give CMOS a good clearing after flashing?
Question about the latest bios (beta). Maybe it was there before, maye not, but what should I set the HPET timer to, 32bit or 64bit mode? Is there a difference?
Shawn
Yep. Took out the battery, moved the jumper. Made a cuppa, rolled a ciggy and went out and smoked it. Then replaced battery and jumper. About long enough:DQuote:

the other thing is if you do not provide high enough voltages, it ain't going to work-ee
All up and running now though. Geils back in 3-3-3-8. CPU 420x9
Only thing I conclude from this is to take it gently gently after a bios flash.
Not really conclusive but
Super Pi 1M (same processes running in background)

B12 Bios 13.435-50s

Help me... when I start Sandra sisoft... what it means??? Oh my god... sorry for file dimension.
IIRC you need Microsoft MDAC installed, I think version 2.0 or higher
ace-a-rue.... flash boot block again with new bios?
again, can you list the switches you used? :D
(for those that can't remember exactly what page you and i had this discussion before) :)
Anybody have a comment I need to cancel my order before the ABIT ships if its not capable of high FSB's like the P5K Deluxe is...
My P5K Deluxe was hitting 550 FSB....but I heard the ABIT could hit 600 FSB with a good CPU
So does anyone know why they made a BIOS for the Anandtech review? Did AT have some issue with the current BIOSes?
While this isn't earth shattering this is with both EIST and C1E enabled. I had 3.2GHz set in BIOS and used uGuru in Windows to bump up the External Clock, Vcore and Vdimm. That's why Orthos and CoreTemp report 3.2GHz but uGuru, CPU-Z, and MemSet get it right. I also like the User Presets in uGuru, very handy.
here ya-go! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=406
substitute "SN" for "SY"...if you do not want to save the original or current bios.
What memory would be recommended for having 4GB with this board?
2x2GB or 4x1GB? And what memory exactly?
My floppy is dead:mad: , how can i flash the bios without it?
Use a USB flash drive. Look here for instructions:

Thanks for link
I've noticed my cpu temp is up several degrees with the newest beta. I was idling at about 33c before, now it's around 40-41c idle. I watercool the cpu (Apogee GT) so I think this is abit (no pun intended) high.
SEE...i noticed a drop for my B3-Q6600...so...everyone is getting mixed results...small swings in both directions.
Hello, than thoughts with the ip35 they will go some well Mushkin 1GB Kit DDR2-1000 XP2-8000 Redline
excused my English bad one :)
thanks
What's the best Bios to use on this board?
this link will show you "tested" memory..remember, mushkin uses other memory maker chips probably the same that are listed in the link under different manufacturers.

No info for "us" third world IP35 "non" PRO customers?
NO BIOS, NO NOTHING, REALLY NICE.
Kudos ABIT
Advised the best ones to me ram for this mobo?
Thanks! :)
Nelly, you can add to the compatable ram list my GSKILL F2-5400CL3D-2GBGA 3-4-3-8.
4x1gb or 2x1gb of tracers 8500 work liek a charm in this baord. They oc like mad with this thing.
Crucial 2GB Kit DDR2-1066 Ballistix??
TeamGroup 2GB Kit DDR2-1066 Xtreem??
what the heck are YOU talking about!!!...have you visited abit's world wide website...probably NOT!
PLEASE, before you come into any forum to rant about support, go to the website to see if there is a bios update for the non pro boards....i just checked and there are two official bios releases for the IP35 (non-Pro) and IP35E!...i got news for you; the Pro board only has only two official bios releases to date.

What is the PWM temp sensor for? I'm loading Prime right now... and it is reported as 79C!
Though warning is at 100C... but still, 79C? Is it supposed to get that high?
from what I have read it will shutoff after 125C...it is normal for the PWM to get VERY hot.....especially with a quad core
pwm:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-width_modulation
Voltage regulation
Main article: Switched-mode power supply
PWM is also used in efficient voltage regulators. By switching voltage to the load with the appropriate duty cycle, the output will approximate a voltage at the desired level. The switching noise is usually filtered with an inductor and a capacitor.
One method measures the output voltage. When it is lower than the desired voltage, it turns on the switch. When the output voltage is above the desired voltage, it turns off the switch.
What's up?
Anyone have a decent solution for custom cooling of the PWMs?
I supposed one could cut the heatpipe?
Do you think individually taped microcool sinks with a small fan would be sufficient? How about copper?
I'm a little wary of cutting up a larger heatsink, because I do have concerns that not all of the chips will make contact with a custom single piece heatsink, unless I steal the thick stock tim pad.
What are some solutions that folks are using? Certainly someone is watercooling the nb, how are they cooling the pwm?
Current overclock: 9*400 Ram@400mhz 5-5-5-15 bios 1.0

Also, if you are interested in the ip35 and performance with the Thermalright IFX-14 and Ultra120X, check out my review.
well...i did this to enhance the cooling solution with the heat pipe system installed:

the olny thing i hate about this board is you cant run sli. to bad i can olny use a single 8800 ultra.:(
thats a bit hot imo, and knowing uguru, add 8 c to that number!
mines sitting at 36c right now in uguru. when loading never goes over 48. Bolt town your mosfet cooler, NB, and sB. it helps some. and put a fan over the top most heatsink, that is the pwm area(mosfets). The asus fans that come with some mobos work fine, and just stick right between the fins..
http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/mainb...e/cooler-s.jpg
but yeah, i wouldnt be very worried, but try to improve your caseflow/+ as cermanque on the NB, PWM, etc..some fans and you should notice quite a drop.
thats weird, i have the same modules you have. Running 4 of them right now, havent had any issues, in fact i can stress this ram to past 850mhz @2.1v, 4-4-4-15. Have you tried swapping dim slots and only running say one stick in each dimm slot with at least 30 mins of memtest? could be a crummy stick
i have the ip35 pro btw, sig is old=)
In my bios and uguru for CPU VTT voltage I can only choose between 1,20 and 1,23v. Is it right?
ahh that explains it, thanks guys
Try overclocking 4GB of memory on this board with Vista 64 and let me know if it is still not that bad... :D I have actually become quite fond of Vista 64 after the last patches but video card drivers still leave a lot to be desired and 4GB compatibility on this board. ;)
all-righty-then!:D
i am not a 4gb fan for memory because i know it limits the overclock...i was just suggesting to another if he wanted to use 4gb's of memory then he needed to move to a 64 bit OS.
as for vista, 32 or 64 bit, i am not moving until they come out with some kind of SP1...that is what Intel announced for their corporate offices and i see the olympics is going to use XP over vista with hard wired versus using WiFi as their mode for connection...vista is apparently to flaky for the olympic committee to be a reliable OS for whatever they will do with it.;)
Thanks, guys!!!
for what?:)

I notice you have an Areca raid card in your sig & wondered if you could help me out.
I am considering getting the same card as you for the reason below.
I have a couple of 80gb Hitachi's that I have run for quite a while RAID 0 with various motherboards but always have the same problem that when I get up to speed & tweaked out & happy with my rig I start getting iasator errors in the event viewer which after 2/3 days of 24/7 running crashes windows to a black screen leaving the fans running like the light is on but no ones home.
A reboot normally fixes things & in the worst case a BIOS reset & reboot get me going again.
I would like to run these & possible one or 2 more drives in RAID 0 again with my IP35 @ 462 x 8 but don't want to get the isator errors & crashes again that normally happen over about 400-425 x 8 ish with the onboard RAID controller.
Do you run your rig @ 450 x 8 24/7 with your Areca RAID setup & have you found any iasator errors in your log.
I run XP Pro BTW.
Regards
Craig.
i would highly recommend the Areca raid card...it is a superb card!
i do not run my rig 24/7 so i can't help you there...what board have you had trouble with the Intel controller when overclocking?
usually the Intel controller will drop offline around 119 to 120 Mhz when running the PCIe bus at those speeds...i am running 109 Mhz right now on the Areca card and Intel Raid chipset...i have two drives attached to each chipset...i occassionally boot into the Intel chipset to just run some benches to see the difference between the two raid solutions...areca always beats out the intel solution...BUT...i've never experienced any errors with my two Seagate 7200.10 drives on the intel chipset...have you considered trying different drives...the seagate 7200-10 with the perpendicular storage technology appears to work flawlessly using that storage technology.
ASUS P5K Deluxe & Abit IP35 Pro which both use the same onboard controller.
Yes I have experienced the onboard controllers dropping as I push the PCIe frequency up on numerous boards but thats not my problem this time.Quote:

I probably will try some different drives as it really could be that the Hitachi's are not up to it.
I can run fault free for months without an error & have done with my DFI NF680 if I turn off every night its just when I leave the PC on 24/7 like I usualy do after 2-3 days I get an error followed by a black screen.
I think I will try some Samsung drives I have lying around just to rule out the Hitachi's & go from there.
Thanks
Craig.
let us know how the samsung drives work out.
what vdroop values are you guys getting with this board:confused: im getting the impression that Abit was aiming for 0.05v as a standard value...
Has anyone flashed the bios from within 64 bit vista. I cant seem to get the bootable usb flash drive to format and thus have no way to flash. The windows flash program does not work either.
I have. Updated the winflash program first with latest. Then downloaded bios file and used the update from file selection.Quote:

Hey guys I have just a couple of min to ask a quick question, I just got my Q6600 GO from Tankguys and one of my cores keeps failing Prime 95, the other 3 are running upwards of 3.7Ghz but the one that is failing starts crapping out around 3.4Ghz, I am running the system in my sig and my temps are 66* under full load on the 3 cores still running P95.
The Vid on my chip is 1.2625v and I am running 1.43v bio with a load voltage of 1.36, idle is sitting at 1.4v but what would be the max "safe" core voltage for this chip?
on the subject of 4G rams
I am using Crucial Ballistix PC6400 1Gx4 @1100MHz 5-5-5-15
DDR2 vol is 2.1v in bios
OS is vista x64
its all good
P.S.
cpu is q6600 @370x9 w/ 1.4625v in bios
welcome to "real" world of overclocking.;)
don't feel bad about 1 of 4 cores not cooperating....that happens to my B3 Quad...always one core won't keep up with three other cores...it comes down to not enough vcore being supplied to all four cores for the overclock you are trying to attain.
Thanks for the replys folks, I am running stable at 3.4Ghz now so I will work on it a bit tomorrow with a little higher Vcore.
hey guys, i cant seem to get the computer to go into windows
the computer goes to bios and everything.. but before it loads the windows screen it just goes bank
whats wrong
new OS install or carried over?
POST codes on the LED?
Overclock & voltages?
I really hope Abit can include a boot menu in the next bios as I usually have at least two different OS installed on diff HDD's and having to go into bios to choose which drive to boot from is a pain
This is the first board I have used in ages that does not have a boot menu :(
you will accommodate to the change; i did!
the hd go carried from a p35 ds3r board, it booted fine few days ago but it just wont boot now
i had it oc'ed before to 3.6 with 1.35 vcore but i would everything back to stock but the same problem
post code stays @ 75 or FF
Well I am sitting on a max oc of 3.52Ghz on my Q6600, I ran Prime95 x 4 last night and it ran for 7 hours without a problem, yeah I know I should have let it go 8 but I wanted to play with it a bit more.
I did manage to run 3d06 at 3.6ghz at 8x450 and Prime95 ran a bit longer but core 1 still fails P95 and Orthos after a few min, I havent gone over 1.46v in the bios yet but I doubt I will worry about it too much untill the chip is broken it a bit more, I am running at 8x425 right now at 3.4ghz and my temps are 38*, 33*, 38*, 33* at idle, so I am a happy camper thus far.
Also I just wanted to say thanks for the great information and suggestions I have gotten from this thread, I was bitten by a bad AB9 board (which is flawless now btw) and I wasnt going to give Abit another chance untill I saw the results from this thread, sure there are other boards that might be a bit better but the price/performance of this board has restored my faith in Abit.
Nelly has kindly provided updates/drivers for some of the utilities. Some questions though:
1) 'JMicron Installation Disk V1.03 for 2000/XP/2003/64bit - 27th June 07'. What is this and how does it differ from; 'JMicron SATA Driver V 1.17.21 for 2000/XP/2003/64bit - 23rd July 07 *NEW*'.
2) 'Realtek 8110SC Gigabit Lan V6.195 Driver for Vista 32bit / Vista 64bit - 20th July 07 *NEW*'. Is this a replacement for the LAN driver on the Abit IP35-Pro bundled CD? It seems to be for a seperate card.
Thanks.
vdroop is really bad with quads on this board, hope a new bios can save it, or else its a great board.
ill try a new install then... thnx
let us know if that cures your problem.
have you tried unplugging, at least, your 12v cpu fan header to see if vdroop is not as bad...there was supposedly a report that if you did not use any of the 12v fan headers the vdroop wasn't as noticeable....when i pull my board out to put in my "G0" Q6600, i will try it....but...that won't happen for about 2-3 weeks.
the problem could have been with this other user's PSU...possibly a problem with delivering sufficient 12v rail power.
Ill give it a shot, also what PCI-E mhz is everyone using, im on 115 with no issues yet....got me a couple of frames boost, not that i needed it.
what is the recommended voltage settings for 540+ MHz FSB??
Please advise, thanks!
Whats the best way to flash the BIOS guys?
Can any1 link me to the latest BIOS?
either with a flash drive, or the oldfashion way via floppy, i still use this method..
hey has anyone firgured out why the hell the Lan ports drop out after coming out of suspend?! its driving me freaking crazy, a reboot fixes the issue. I turned off "let computer turn off device to save power" , installed the latest realtek drivers dated from july. Still no dice
I may just order one of those Rosewill pci-e nic cards..more bandwidth anyway
any ideas on this issue with nic though..
thanks
