Yeah, thx man. I was thinking about that too. Now I really think that there are some people here who can help me.
I should be doing that too. But since my mobo is the same as this topic I thought I can get my questins answered right here.

wow! if you really got to overclock your vidcard to it's pre 1.A+ levels that would be awesome! my venice really got an OC boost with the 1.Bmod but my AGP-vidcard doesn't OC as well as it used to with the 1.8 and lower bios version.

how did you do it?

tried that but no :( just cant get my memory over HTT 219 stable. ONLY with Cpu multiplier @ 4x, memory divider 200 i can be stable over HTT219. If i try higher or lower CPU multi's i cant boot windows.

( tested my ram in a DFI nf4 and it runs 240mhz 2-2-2-5 easy )

EDIT : hmm maby it got something do to with my Promise Fasttrack TX2200 raid-0 card that i cant get past 219 in windows what u guys think :o

Hi Guys....

I have a cold boot problem with my neo2 board. The main can't boot over 260 MHz of HTT. I tried a lot of bios (1.8, 1.B, 1.B Sideeffect...), but the situation never change.

My confing is in signature, except the pqi ram modules (they're in taiwan for RMA..).

What can i do?

P.s.: the HT molti (3x) doesn't change the situation.

Edit: I can't see the signature... Anyway, here you are my config:

I mean what speed did you get @ what voltage before, and what speed @ what voltage do you get now? :)

Mehran We can only help if we have an idea of the problem. If you make a signature of your specifications that helps as well.

As Special_K said to you before your probably expecting to much of your system. If its not stable at 2700 theres only so much you can do before you have to except it and work towards a lower overclock.

And you also need to realise the people that come here are not MSI help staff or admins we're just people like you who want to find information about the neo 2 and chat about our systems.

Thx but I don't think so about overclocking. It's just that I could run it at 2700 but now I can't! I mean what happened?
And I tested your 1.B bios too. I think it lacks in some areas but still good.
For example I can not use x9.5 multiplier.
I know that u r not MSI staff!!! It's just that u r more experienced than me.
And about my sig.
I have already written my specs.

There was a big thing a while back where a lot of people were complaining that after a while there normally 24/7 stable overclocks were starting to degrade and become unstable after a while with the Neo2.

If you do a seach you could probably find the thread, I'm at work right now so I dont have the time to find it for you.

That or some setting was different before letting you clock higher.
Maybe you were using a diff BIOS that had diff default RAM timings?

Nope. I have used every single bios. Currently 1.36 MOD that gives u 1.9v.
What should I search for plz?
I didn't know that i'm not the only one who has this problem!

If you still have the box that came with the crucial ballistix check the serial number and see if it ends in 505 or 503.

505 are double sided 503 are single sided. You can also check on windows boot when it detects the ram it will say how many banks it has sinle sided will say like 1 and 2 double sided will say 1 2 3 and 4.

Well i have tried both and the 505 double sided work better on the neo 2 the 503 didnt work well at all. They did however scale higher. I found more stability at higher HTT with the 503 for example 270 was more stable than 250.

i have a set and they are the 503's however they are dual sided/banked. Even checked in CPUZ, and they are both dual bank/dual sided. These are the 2X1GB sticks...

Yes Budwise i wasn't talking about the 1gb sticks they are double sided i was asking Mehran who has 2 x 512 mb sticks.

505 2 x 256 mb = single sided
505 2 x 512mb = double sided
503 2 x 512mb = single sided
503 2 x 1gb = double sided

My kingmax 512mb pc3200 go only at 235mhz.. 1.1 but at that frequency the games freezing but windows is ok..

It's not a ballistix!
It's just a simple one and of course a cheap one! :stick: :banana:
It runs at DDR400 2.6v PC3200! 3.0 3 3 8
I overclocked it to DDR500 (250) 2.80v 3.0 3 3 8!
So what now?
Any ideas?

Only with these settings i can boot with my memory @ stable higher then 218mhz :

so i think there is something wrong with the bioses, they are forcing different settings on the ram @ different dividers/CPU multi's or something ;s, or the motherboard just isnt very compatible with our bh-5 sticks

With CPU multi 4x memory divider is /5!!! So it is not real 240MHz! Its 960/5 = 192MHz. I had similar problem and also thought that witx 4x my BH-5 worked 250 cl2225 ;) (see my previous posts) - so try cpu multi 5x and probably you will find it not working :(

As for my case, I'm trying to exchange my OCZ Gold for Buffalo PC3200 CL 2-2-2 (seems like TCCD???). I have problems even with 200-210MHz on memory & cl2 - 2,5 (dual channel - single seems more stable) - the only stable configuration is to have memory <= 200MHz. :slash: OCZ (hopefully).

Yes the crucial ballistix are just handpicked chips from the regular crucial batch so some of the cheaper sticks can also get to DDR500.

Oh ya forgot to come back and mention that :P

I really don't know how I did it. But there was only one thing I did different then every other time I flashed my BIOS.

Normally when I flash my MB BIOS my GPU is at stock clocks. And then after the flash I re-OC it according how ever much the new BIOS will let me.
But this last time when I flashed to v1.B I forgot and left the card at Ultra clocks.

And now it just works, dunno.

But I really don't see how it makes any type of difference because the GPU only gets OC'ed once you enter windows. Weird...
