The only drive i got to sata atm is backup drive without OS on it. Main one is still on temp IDE drive till i get a 2nd drive. Next week i will get a 2nd one to put OS on it though..if F8 does not fix it by then for you I let you know how my install goes. But I don't foresee any problem honestly.

Its already here. To be honest I dont expect much, I am anticipating staying with the P5B-E anyways. But for some real comparisons I want to take a known good overclocker and just see what the ds3 can do.

How can you say that unless you either are speculating or you have some information that I do not have?

If you don't think the motherboard caused my vista not to load, what is it that you think it is? Tell me. Don't give me vauge assumptions.

How the hell am i suppose to know whats wrong? You want a answer? Ok its the color of your computer that is preventing Vista from loading..sheesh.

Vista installs fine for me like I said, thats not rocket science to understand.

GA-965P-DS3P Rev. 2.0

Looks like this is more than just replacing the micron controller. It also has two 16x PCI-e slots too. The power regulation around the CPU is beefier as well. Newegg also dropped the price on the DS3 down to $129.00 + shipping. Looks like if you want a new and improved BIOS you're going to have to pony up for a new MOBO. :explode2:

Is the latest bios still F8i?

I wonder if GB has any plans to incorporate some way to save BIOS profiles like DFI has reloaded and Asus has the BIOS profile option. Would be nice to be able to save BIOS profiles for OCs.

I have a feeling that board is going to be $150+ though.

Hmm, looks good!

Really wish they changed the NB cooler though, since we all know how inadequate it is :stick:

Looks like the changed the power connector too. I think the new one is an 8pin instead of the atx12v that is on the ds3.

They repositioned the IDE connector..nice. That and the lack of fan headers are my only 2 :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:es about layout.

I think they stretched it back out to the standard atx size also. Has the dual bios now too.

I've already upgraded my NB cooler to a Thermalright HR-05 with a 70 x 15mm fan. Definitely more gooderer than stock. $16.00 smackers at Bestbyte

Overall I'd have to say it was a good pickup at the egg for $129; surely it will be more with the extra material and functionality (which I really don't need...one video card is exspensive enough). I sank way more than I had budgeted for this buildout *shocker* but I have plenty of upgrade path for the next couple years. Now I just have to throw my old :banana::banana::banana::banana: together and make a new file server and a "simple" HTPC for music, photos and vid clips.

check my sig... I'm running all this with a 450w =.="

edit : 120mm fan back of case, 60mm fan front, 30mm fan on northbridge, both zalman fan plug in the mobo... another fan built-in psu!

...ya my sig plus 5 80mm fans, one 120, one slot fan, 5 UV ccathodes, switch panel, and a fan controller. Came out to like 580w needed for a maximum effort; I'll use the NEO 480 in the wife's rig...

I'm pretty sure that the rig you have in your sig does not need 700W. I'm sure even 600W is more than enough.

I have a 6300@3ghz and 1.35Vcore along with a 7900GTO(rebadged and underclocked 7900GTX, along with 4 different hard drives.

And this sucks about the DS3P rev. 2 announcement.....If I get a new board, I'm not sure if I should get another gigabyte.... The lack of firewire really bothered me, and the faulty bios doesn't help....
