Cooling is water - AquaXtreme MP-05 SP LE Water Block! This E6300 needs a lot of voltage, but it did not heat a lot and clock nice for lowest C2D :)

I got my system prime stable with the following settings: E6400 @ 3320 mHz vcore = 1.4625 vMCH +0.1 vFSB +0.1 BIOS F8i

Problem: System does not wake from sleep. I hear the fan starting but the only way to boot is the completely shut the system down by turning PSU off then restart. Any idea ?

The only thing I hate on the DS3 that you can't select a vcore between 1.6 and 1.8v :mad: I thing i get a P5B-e plus or a P5B dlx only because you can use 1.65vcore.

Did the vmch pencil mod for 1.65v and now 3.6ghz is stable (so far).

I totaly agree with you. I crave for 1.7V VCORE :) Now i can get 1M score on my E6700 with 4070MHz@1.7V using watercooling. I want MORE! :D

Yeah, disable sleep. I've never had luck with it so now I just turn off hdd's/monitor after xx minutes. sleep mode sux0rs...just my .02

It used to work up to F8i. I like the feature since my comp is off most of the time. I guess i´ll wait for the final F8 to see if it´s fixed.

from the sounds of it this next bios is going to be awesome. And it might just come around teh time I get my custom watercooling kit :D, really can't wait!!! :D

I'm back on the F4 BIOS. My Raptor is still not found on a cold boot but at least my overclock isn't disabled automatically every time like with F8i! :explode2:

Enough is Enough

I've been keeping my thoughts to myself long enough. Over the past week I've been reading constantlyand experiencing first hand S3 resume problems, IDE detection problems, cold boot problems, memory speed issues, fan controls that dont work anymore, etc......etc.....etc!!!

When I saw the version numbers put on the GB boards about a week ago, it looked all too familiar. When I heard there was a resistor that needed replaced and then heard that GB decided not to do it, I was getting very skeptical. Week after week we heard about more problems with F8i and it has been 3 weeks now and not even a new beta version. I think we all know that F8i can't be released as production, yet they haven't tested another one?

And now this morning the DS3P (rev 2.0) is announced. From the looks of things, that is where all the time and money will be going. They removed the jmicron controller and replaced the ICH8 with an ICH8R. The drivers are all the same and the bios is new. That is why we haven't seen a new beta bios or a new profuction bios for the DS3. And in my opinion, we have just been screwed by GB!!

Edit.....not to mention VISTA WONT LOAD ON THIS P>O>S>!!!

Notice the latest Intel drivers have been added + JMicron?...what should this tell you?....update bios ROM's will be added to the new bios!

Those are just Vista Drivers. How does that tell you anything?

Just out of curiosity since I haven't been following this thread lately, what problem did you have loading Vista? I tried to install it myself and with different configurations I could not get Vista to install at all. However, I must say it's partly to do with the latest incarnation of Vista - RTM mostly, I fired up Beta 2 and it actually installed. What RTM was doing was skipping the "Copying Windows Files" part and then when it go to a certain point further on it would just hang forever and then fail. I tried it with different drives in different setups, from different cdroms, with stock bios settings, etc. It always came back to the same spot with a problem. I even used a disk that was known to work as someone had installed vista rtm from it just fine.

First I tried to install it with one plain Sata II connected to the GB Sata Controller. That was the first version of the release code i believe. It got about 30 seconds in showed a spash screen and then showed an error........didn't have a driver it needed.......offered to let me install it in the cd or flash drive or floppy. But didn't say what driver it was missing. Couldn't go any further.

Later on I tried the next version of the RC and it did the same with my 2 drives in Raid zero on the GB controller.

Needless to say, both CD's are in the trash and long gone now. I had tested the machine the day before with the Vista readiness program From MS and passed with flying colors. They had rated my machine ready for Vista Premium.

So much for Vista.

Edit...i think I did all that when i was on F7. I was never OC'd when i did it either.

You better cancel that order for your DS3, if you really did order it. The DS3P(rev2) is what you will want if you are really doing that.

I doubt your problems have anything to do with this motherboard with vista not working.

Vista installs fine on my system with this motherboard. You don't even need to install any drivers with it. (except sound).

I am curious what you would think the problem is then?

Do you have your Sata drives hooked up to the ICH8 or the Jmicron controller? I am fairly certain that is the reason it won't load. If you have information to the contrary, I'd love to know what it is.
