My classified died and now I got RE II.;)
some of my settings are shown in a few posts before ......
i prefer 1406 for overclocking, in 1504 i need more vcore as in 1406, dunno why ......
Ok i tested RE II little.

Hey guys
Just rolled on win 7 a couple of days ago but now im having hard time shutting down the whole PC sometimes. It is just ending on "Shutting down..." screen with the green cursor spinning and thats it. But sometimes it shuts down properly. It's very weird... i have the newest 1504 bios.... every single driver up to date. It's clean install. Never ever had similar problem with Vista though...
Do you guys have any clue what can cause that? As i said it's clean install only with 2 games ( Grid and WoW) .... Eset smart security antivirus, DirectX runtime and that's about it... HDD is OCZ Agility EX 60GB with 1.31 firmware shipped.
I've had this board since March and I love it.
Currently got 920 C0 stepping @ 3.62 - vcore = 1.330 & vtt = 1.336
I really want to get d0 stepping at Crimbo so I can get to 4 - 4.2
I have custom water cooling so cooling aint a problem.
What is safe vcore and vtt? Wouldnt mind trying to get to 4ghz with the c0.
RoEy
1.55v is the max voltage for vcore according to intel, but most chips don't make it there (they run too hot). As for vtt, intel says its 1.35v but it seems to be fairly conservative. I wouldn't go and run 1.6v 24/7 or anything like some high speed memory kits spec, but under 1.5v seems to be fairly safe (chips been out for only a year, who knows when the imc starts going wonky). Most c0s should reach 4ghz once you throw enough voltage at them, just make sure you run 21 or 19 multi, avoid 20 like the plague.
My LCD Poster shows "RESERVED" ,This is the only message i ever had on it ,first is CPU INIT and then this message ,what can be the problem ?
Try to remove the battery for one minute for clear CMOS, still only with one memory stick in the last blue slot, install battery and try to ON your system. Maybe the problem in BIOS. If it's not helps, try to change BIOS jumpers for booting from second BIOS chip and try again.
Hi mates,
This is a wonderful thread!!!
Could anyone help me out with an explanation, a real for dummies explanation, upon how to change memory timings on my R2Ex?
Or link to a good tutorial if there is one?
I would be eternally greatful!
I have OCZ Gold 1600 memory and they are spec to 8 8 8 24 timings,
but since there are several options (1, 2, 3 etc and they are now on 9 9 9 something) I am very confused,
I'm also confused about the 1N and 1T stuff wich makes me a v e r y confused overclocker!
Pherhaps my OC is of importance for advice, if so, here are some nfo on my OC.
I backed down to 4318, I can run HT wich is a bonus for me as I edit a lot of homemovies with my rig.
(I can run 4634 with HT disabled, some crazy voltages and tweaks.
But for safety (voltages and heat issues) I did 4400 the 24/7 previously, but as I mentioned HT is the :banana::banana::banana: if youre into adobe premiere and thus I turned HT on and backed off)
Memory timings is important for speed, but I am really confused about these new i7 with settings and so forth,
so I would be extremely greatful and happy for any or all help you mates are willing to support me with.

Please help me mates!
Kindest regards,

From what I've been reading Core i7 doesn't benefit much from tighter memory timings as the core 2 CPUS, for sure tighter timings would improve performance but they are not dramatic as you think, try setting the memory timings manually in BIOS or run them at higher speed if they can take it.
Silverbullit - You can see in the ram timings screen the primary timings are currently set to 9-9-9-X, so since your ram is rated for 8-8-8-24, set that manually. The command rate setting is also straight forward; if your ram is rated for 1T operation, set 1T, if its rated for 2T operation, set 2T. Leave the rest of the timings set to auto for now, and do some reading about them.
I've got four Western Digital RE3 1TB drives setup on SATA ports 2 through 5 in a RAID10 array. My problem is that the drives on ports 3 and 5 keep dropping out of the array. I know it's not the drives because I've replaced them once already. Also, and more importantly, if I unplug/replug the SATA connector, the drive is immediately recognized and the array rebuilds immediately. This has happened 3x now in the last 2 months.
Any thoughts? I bought the Raid Edition drives to prevent this type of dropout, but obviously I'm missing something here. Is there a timeout value I need to adjust, or some other setting I can change?
My R2E isn't up and running yet (nor will I be running any of my drives off of it) but in my hardware RAID experience, drives can start dropping out randomly when there are cooling issues. Try increasing cooling on the SB. You may even want to go overboard with this to make sure it's not the issue. Open the case and point a powerful fan at the chipset to rule out overheating.
^With that many drives being utilized, perhaps a small voltage bump to the ICH core or ICH 1.5v would be needed? It's just a guess, but it would be worth a shot if you have not already tried it.
My system is watercooled and the SB sits at 43°C under CPU benchmarking, but I'm not sure where it's at under heavy disk use. I've also got a dedicated fan on the disks themselves. I'll load up the disks and see what the temp is at the SB and at the disks. Thanks for the suggestion.Quote:

I'll give it a shot. Any suggestions for voltage? I'm running 1.11V now at the ICH.Quote:

Well I'd go up one voltage step on both ICH 1.1v and ICH 1.5v and see how it responds. I've no idea what safe voltages are though, but I'd imagine 1.12 - 1.14v would be ok. A small increase to say 1.13v for ICH 1.1v and 1.52v for ICH 1.5v should show improvement if its going to help at all.
usually i put all hard drives in first sata slots anything else with the remainder
@silverbullit:
for the Ram Timings:
enter Dram Timing Control - set them 8 8 8 5 24 88
1N = 1T
leave anything else auto :)
Hi Trynity,
Thank you! Do you run the same memory I do?
(OCZ Gold Low Voltage 12gb 6x2gb?)
I had another response that said 8-8-8-8-24-88 2T
so I am curious if you have tried out the settings in person with the same sticks and came to the two lower values you suggest?
Thank you for your input mate, looking forward to your answer Trynity.
Kindest regards,

not the same mem, but i have also 6x2 GB Mushkin 998687 (12GB), runnin 8-8-8-5-24-88 @ 1836mhz, i don't know what your ram is capable :)
The thing is that you will have heavy load on the IMC with 12GB on the Mobo
But i never had set 1T to 2T (1N /2N), runs @ 1T in any case with 1.63 DRAM Voltage :)
regards
