mmmkay, i'm gonna go be sick
ATI, NVIDIA = Companies

Who's that directed at? If that's directed at me, I'll give one chance to apologize, because you can ask anyone around here and they'll tell you I've been around this thread from the start and definitely have learned a lot more about the rv770 than any new comer calling others "flaming fanboy"s
guess its true about the ROPs being far more efficient
It was aimed at y2kbos.
And i'm not just some n00b that wandered in off the streets you know. I have been doing this far longer than i've been a member of XS for. You definitely have some complex though, if you take that attitude towards someone who's comments aren't aimed at you in the first place.
CF 4850's look strong, that much is certain, but I fear micro-stuttering is still around and until I see a unanimous confirmation that it's fixed(not just a few forum members, as there are some who claimed it didn't happen with the 3870x2 as well) I still can't claim it a viable solution either.
Fact is, I have a buyer for my 8800GTX next month who needs a new card as he's still rocking out my old 6800GT(which still works as it did on launch), and am keeping a very close eye on how things develop with ATi as well as with NVidia. I'd point him in the direction of something else and just keep the card, but if I can spend a little more and get something much better, why not, as he insists on buying my card specifically.
So I'm watching this thread very closely at this point. ;)
60% of improvement means that hd4870 should be almost as powerful as hd4850 cf . Hmm, thats too good to believe...
With the results i'm seeing, i'm about ready to jump ship and get a pair of 4850's....should see me through until all the nehalem rush has passed!
Possibly. I'd imagine some partner would make one though. Even if ATI doesn't lay out a design for one themselves. I mean, Asus made that crazy 3850X3 Trinity Super Ultra Insanity FTW Edition card :D
You know the one I'm talking about, with 3 3850 GPU's on one big board that you have to watercool.
Granted, I doubt it will ever actually be sold to the public, but the idea of a 4850X2 is a little less weird. So who knows eh?
:rofl::up::ROTF::clap:
and 9600 Matrix :D
way better than longbow chik!
anyways, red team needs the X2, at least for pub sake, and I think they know that....
I'm giving you ALL one chance to drop the argument... I've let this go on long enough. Next response to your off-topic discussion gets reminded that we do infact have moderators at this site...
Get back on topic, stop the "ATi are t3h fail" nature of your posts in this thread. Consider this a public warning, not just to yourself, but to EVERYONE who might get the same idea in their head that this is ok to do. ;)
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you by experience :D
I will keep my views for another thread boss

I'm not trying to flame anyone, I'm just curious as I have never owned a SLI/CF multi gpu rig but am quite tempted ATM considering the 4850s price point...
512MB GDDR5 version ?!?!

You'll always get micro-stuttering in CF, because it will still use AFR and you have two complete and independent cards. The only thing that could be new is the 4870X2. Will test both CF and R700 when I can, but I can bet MC will be present at least in the CF solution. R700 remains to be seen ;)
4850CF is no different from 3870CF, so if you're looking for the power of two without the problems of two wait and see what R700 can do (or can't do, who knows).
BTW impressive results of the 70 if true, but I'm with Hornet, 1GB cards NOW!
Starting as low as 155€ here and in stock, given the pricing track record of that shop i'm expecting you'd be able to find some in the 140€ range in a few days.
