I think it's 333 strap. If you choose 266 strap, the memory frequency will be 1332 in bios, 400 strap will be 1334, 333strap will be 1333. Then you will know which strap chosen at Auto.
Asus.com -- at least the support page for the US site has had 0401 up all day: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
Maybe I need to clear my internet cache/temp files, but it's still showing only 0204. But anyway, I was able to download off the FTP site, so it's all cool. THanks..
RAMPAGE MAXIMUS
Coming from Opteron 165 (939), this is all new. What's a FSB ? Just kidding.Quote:
I'm facing the same problem as Goldi, very high NB/SB temps!
My NB is 60 degrees also according to Asus probe. What are acceptable limits to NB temperatures?
I thought that I had problems with the CPU temp also. It read 31 degress at stock idle and load on water. I went to 3.2Ghz and temps stayed the same. I wasn't trying to overclock much if the temperature wasn't being monitored accutately. I pushed a little more, 3.6Ghz with a little bump in CPUv. Finally, temps budged to 34 degrees. These 45nm Wolfdales are sick!
I also seem to have a faulty PCI slot. The lower one doesn't work with my creative audigy card. It works in the top PCI slot. Any suggestions?
I hope that Goldi or Philberx remount there NB HS to see if that is the problem. It is such a PITA to remove the MB. I hope to hold off on the RMA for the PCI if I can. That way, I'll have a chance to exchange in a few months if x48 chips get refined.
BTW, I ordered mine from Newegg on April, 07. I'll try to get specific numbers off the board later.
Definitely need a new thread.
Great news m8 , keep on clocking :up:Quote:
supahank yeah its working out fine! nothing spectacular, but all ok
nice Fsb u got there, im getting about the same, maybe more with more than 1.60, but didnt bother to test more
luck:)
Do you guys leave lineload calibration on or turn it off?
Metro has started up a thread specifically to do with P5E3 Premium at this link

Maybe people should post there to save confusion.
Does it make sense to change my Foxconn MARS that could run 502FSB stable to this X48 Asus mobo?
I tried some lower voltages last night for my NB and what do you know? Temps went way down . . . Duh.Quote:

I had the NB chipset at about 1.6v. I think that I set it there after reading what pcProbe was measuring from the auto setting. I'm not sure why they put it so high on auto.
It's still a little warm. I would like it under 40 C (before I start pushing it). I don't have active cooling on it. I don't know if I will reseat the heatsink or just trying getting a fan.
hey guys, anyone been able to OC 8500's or any kit of ram on a rampage past 1066mhz? Please share your experience here
Anyone have any information on the release date for the Rampage Extreme?
??? ???
Hmm.. i did not bother to reseat my NB heatsink, what i did was to strap a 60mm 4000rpm sanace fan over the nb heatsink next to the cpu..
Now my NB/SB Temps are around 48/46 IDLE at 1.3V and 56/54 on LOAD from PC Probe.
Without active cooling, it was 60 to 70C!!
Hey I just got my system up and running yesterday. I have the rampage formula x48. I installed the temp monitoring software that came with it and a warning came up after playing css. The NB was at 51C. Is that normal & the alarm is just set too low? I have the cpu and graphics on watercool (QX9650 & 3870x2). My Cpu was at 23C and sb at 39C. The NB was so much higher im kinda scared im gonna fry something =/. I have not overclocked anything =/
Well i bought a rampage formula x48 today
It looks awesome and i do love the copper on it but...... it's not gonna give me enough performance
So what is the first thing you do when you unpack your brand spanking new motherboard?! that's right, rip off every bit of copper :bsod:

Now i just have to clean the NB and SB to have them ready when my order from highflow.nl arrives:
1 x Northbridge: EK-NB S-MAX

1 x Southbridge: EK-NB/SB ASUS 4

2 x Mosfets: EK-Mosfet ASUS 3a

1 x XSPC Laing DDC Acrylic Reservoir

I'm also receiving a radiator from feser to cool everything down and i already got some scythe fans to help with it
Updates next week monday if my package has arrived
Hey guys,
I got a Rampage Formula today, and.. it wont POST.
At first, it kept stalling at "DET DRAM" no matter wich of the slots i used. I tested with 2 different OCZ Flex 9200's aswell as a Crucial Ballistix. Finally found that if i put the Ballistix in slot4, and one of the OCZ's in slot1, i would get all the way to "USBFINAL" where it would stall again. With this setup, POST screen would say memory is running in dual channel mode(?) at 667. One theory i have is that the vDDR is too low on this board for anything higher, and that im forcing it to that speed by using 2 different memsticks. Too bad i cant actually get into the bios to up the vDDR..
Any idea guys ?
CPU is an E6750 that has, honestly, been through its share of high voltage/high temperature treatment. Could this be it, or is it more likely that all 3 memory sticks are defective ?
Ive tested with 2 different PSU's. Unfortunately, my old DDR2 board is dead, so i cant test the sticks and cpu on that,- hence the reason i got this board.
Im getting an E8400 tomorrow. Hoping that will solve the issue. If the OCZ's really are dead it'd be pretty disappointing, as i have'nt ever run them past 2.3V wich is spec.
As i suspected, the OCZ and Crucial sticks were rated for too high voltage. Once i got an old 512mb ddr stick and got into BIOS to change the voltage, it booted happily with the OCZ's. YAY
Man this e8400 runs much colder than the 6750 i had, win.
My SIIE is now on SALE.
I am looking for a DDR3 X48 based mobo, most important for me is stability when running fsb 450 / mem 900, linked & synched.
What would you guys advise me to pick:
Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 rev1.1?
Or Asus P5E3 premium?
P5E3 Premium new@bios
ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socke...emium-0402.zip
Thanks :)
any news on whats new? tried it ? changes?
cheers!
I used to get that when I first built my rig too , mine would post, boot and run at stock but didnt like even 1MHz overclock and would hang at DET DRAM . Im not sure why but my mobo didnt like my 6400 Ballistix (seems to be a common issue) so I got a set of Team Extreem 6400 that allowed a clock to about 880MHz then same problem came back , so I got a set of Team 1066 that had been tested to 1200 and its all good , no limits now , just cpu limits .
I hope that helps .
Guys , Im not happy with the clocks on my q6600 and I want to keep going with my Rampaged Formula , what cpu would you guy get for benching ? QX9650 would be the obvious best choice but way too dear for me , how well do these mobos clock 45nm quads ? Can I get one to 4GHz on water ?
Any help would be great.
I have a problem with my Rampage, I can't run my @ SPD settings which is 533Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.1v.
This is my system:
E6400
Rampage Forumla
3870 CF
Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF 4096MB
Tagan 550W
I'm running 400fsb and when I try to set my rams @ 533Mhz I can't even get into BIOS without a reset.
Do you think it's my CPU that causes these problems?
I have not flashed my BIOS and I'm using the blue slots for my memory.
Help/Tips is appreciated!
