does anybody have AM2 Opteron? how fast is it? is X2 AM2 better than Opteron AM2?

ok, my second 165 just arrived. don't ask long story ;) guess what i think my luck is changing. the second chip is a CCBBE 0616XPMW. hopefuly by tomorrow ill have some results to post. i didnt with my first chip because the best it would do was 2.6 @ 1.58v. sad huh :rolleyes:

MARyo, not bad :D for air cooling. so why do you want to sell them? you just don't need 4 cpus or you don't like them?

of course I don't need 4 CPUs :) I bought it in order to test and sell later :)
I'm using DFI Infinity UltraII-M2g and I'm verry happy and direct this mobo.

btw 3250 mhz is actually WR :P I'll try to break this :]

So what did you do with the old crappy one? Did newegg (I'm assuming you bought it there) took it back, or did you send it back for replacement and got the XPMW? I thought the CPU had to be defective for an RMA but maybe they don't care? :stick:

here's what i've gotten sofar, and i think this is all i'll get with *air* :( with 30 mins Orthos cpu stress test it was hitting 50c :( @t 2.8 and 1.4v it only hits 40c load absolute max ...

the first one i got from my wholesaler will be going back. what are you cooling yours with ? i'm sure i can hit 3.0, but i dont want to throw more than the 1.45v i'm using for 2.9 with my XP-90 :( run pretty cool tho, bout 40c full load

Can't find any Opteron 170s that passed 3.0ghz mark.

BTW, is CCBBE or CCB1E better for the 170?

Both memory controllers are good. The 1E runs hotter though. Needs water to shine.

hit or go over the 3.0ghz line?

Out of these 4 steppings,
1. CCBBE 0617 FPMW
2. CCBBE 0615 DPMW
3. CCBBE 0610 DPMW
4. CCBBE 0615 EPMW
which one would OC the most in a rig composed of:

Motherboard: CFX3200
Mem: 2x1GB XMS Twin 3500LL (433)
PSU: M12-600

with 120.3 + 2 pump + Storm WC.

Number 1. Week 17 seems to do better than 10. They usually improve with each batch, not always but usually. I don't remember what day of the week "F" is but I don't think it matters. Some say it does though.

Other people recommended 2. and 3.
(the D's)

I've seen 2. go up to 3.0ghz and 3. 2.98ghz
from the guys who gave me feedback.

But those records weren't that stable.

I'm try to find out something I can OC to 3.0ghz
with WC, and keep it stable for at least couple hours.

They are all good steppings, you really can't go wrong with any of them. 0616's are good also.

I've seen them all doing 3ghz. As for the 170 CCB1E's... I've seen them all do 3ghz.
I've seen one 170 with my stepping doing 3.2ghz on phase (Major's). Most CCBWE's have less of a coldbug.
