Got mine 165 today..hoped for a 0616xpmw but i didnt get so lucky to get one.

Got a 0615DPMW instead with low batch

more testing tommorow(i´m not so unhappy to not get a 0616xpmw anymore)

I will have hard to get over 270mhz 2-2-2-X 4x512mb bh5 24/7 anyway and ~3.0ghz will give around 270 mhz :) (166 divider)

Hi guys. I just bought a used Opty 170 CCBWE 0609FPAW, I was just wondering what is the best bios for my board (info in my sig), I've been out of it for a while. I hope the guy that sold it to me didn't do so because it's a bad clocker!! :p:

Buy a 165 instead you have more chance to get a good one then.

Newegg has been shipping some good 165s and 170s. Of course that can change in an hour so YMMV.

well I was thinking about the 165 too but im kinda a year behind in the OC seen. Isnt the higher multiplier better? Ive currently got my venice running at 250x10 with 2gigs of ram at 1:1 and wanted something similar if not better. Also Im running all of it on a msi k8 neo2 platinum. If I could get one of those opty's running similar or better I will be happy. Forthe cooler I have a thermaright sp120 with a grreat fan on it. What do you guys think will fit best for me. Damn I feel lke such a noob again.

Geting higher in orthos prime.. found a cure, my pwmic temp was high so i put a fan there and that give me some more mhz and beter stability of the vcore.

I hope you did. Depends on what you call "scored", on my CCBBE 0615 EPMW i could not go higher than 2.95 ghz @ 1.55 v with my old A8n32-SLI, with my recent CCBBE 0616 XPMW i can get to 3.0 ghz @ 1.525 with my DFI expert. I don't wanna remove the IHS on this last one, temps are good, max load orthos are 56 - 58 c core 1 and 51 - 51 c core 2 (I'm on H2O though).

Hope you can hit 3.0 ghz!! :toast:

I currently have an arctic cooling freezer 64 pro. Is this going to cool my Opty good to reach 2.7~2.8?

Lol, yeah I have two, but not just to hit 3.0, the "crappy one" is on the HTPC with my crappy uATX mobo at stock speeds, with the IHS on again :slapass: (hope superglue does the job, considering is gonna be hot there).

The amazing 0616 xpmw is in the gaming - encoding machine @ 3.0 ghz. Good thing that mobo has overclocking profiles in the bios, so I have 3 profiles, so I'm not 3.0 ghz all day long just for nothing. That will keep my opty alive until Agena arrives (or intels native quad, whatever is faster) :D

Maybe the 8n32-SLI did criple you on the 0615 epmw..

i reached 2.83Ghz with 1.312v only, which bios shows 1.33v

You will want to do Large FFT's to test your overclock, and avoid the .5 multi's, but I am sure that chip will do it.

Yeah that could be too. From now on, if I wanna overclock im sticking with DFI. That Oscar Wu guy rocks (the DFI mobo designer, he was former ABIT's).

The new one being an XPMW helps too, I've seen, don't remember where, that usually that code means is one of the first batches of silicon, meaning is La creme de la creme. So maybe that's why a lot of people can reach 3.0 ghz with that stepping code using very low v core voltages.

Just my 2 cents. :)

My first attempt was great 2700 300x9 stock volts :woot:
Second attempt was even better 2880 320x9 stock volts :woot: :woot:
I havent had much time to test.
I am off to run a stress test now.
