Well I would rather get the DFI expert, but I'm past newegg's refund date so all i can work out is a replacement, If ASUS will pay shipping both ways I'll send it in, otherwise no reason, unless I can coax newegg into refunding or replacing this one with a little bit ~$10 cheaper DFI.

I think I want me to RMA mine mostly because mine doesn't always post after a restart or whatnot.

I made up my mind accro. I'm throwing this ASUS P.O.S. mobo and I'm getting the DFI NF4 expert, yeah only 8x SLI, but we will see. Wish me luck! I let you guys now if overclock gets better!:slapass:

With 100% load i have 8-10C different too.. :mad:
Idle different is 2-3C.

Wow, impressive, I see in your sig you are running your cpu at 1.6v and 3105 mhz, are you running those 24/7, and have you run orthos, dual prime or any other stress tests without any errors. What are your temps in each core during full load?

I've got about a 12 - 15C temperature gap between the two cores under load

Everest reads CPU 51c, Core#1=80c Core #2 =67c vcore = 1.55v

the difference goes down to about 7c or so when idle with #1 @ 39c and #2 @ 33c overall cpu temp reads 28-29c idle

the only time i see them the same or within 1 or 2 c of each other is when I'm running a 3dmark06 benchmark and I can see the temp readings between each test

I ran my opty at 3105MHz 1.475+110% = 1.62v
Dual-Prime stable 24hours+ idle is around 30C and load 45C with a 24C ambient temp. I recently build a new system with better cooling and board "DFI Venus" and my overclock has improved to 3120MHz 1.450+109% = 1.520v Dual-Prime stable 12hours+ idle is around 17C and load 30C with a 21C ambient temp "yea winter is here" :)

back to topic.
now while at load CoreTemp is showing a 0-1C difference in temps, while at idle it's the same.

you have a really nice step!!
mine there is 10 ° difference between each core, I'm going to remove ihs soon...
I hope be able to be stable @ 2800 ... we will se when I 'l have my DOD if he's better ;)

Likewhoa youre using a chiller to get below ambient? Or was it a typo?

Anyway, those are some insane frequencies for those temperatures.

no chiller, just using a Swiftech Storm waterblock and their 3x120 RAD for cooling.

The man who sell me it primme it @2.84 1.45V. I hope to use less voltage :slobber: . He had a bad PSU.

Wow, just by switching to a DFI mobo you gained speed with actually lower vcore. My mind is set then, I'm getting a DFI expert and replacing my asus a8n32 sli, I guess I should listen to my friend when he was telling me dfi mobos are for overclocking, I went for the asus one because it had SLI X16, but I guess there is not tangible difference when running SLI X16 and SLI X8. Besides the asus mobo doesn't have a 150 mem divider, and I have a ddr mem that runs at 500 mhz so I need that divider, and the DFI has it. I'm gonna cross my finguer that I can reach my 3.0 cpu overclock.

Good luck man, I have the same stepping, I removed the IHS though, I'm gonna get my DFI mobo next week, so wish me luck I can hit those speeds.

CCBBE 0615EPMW - limit seems to be about 2.7ghz on stock AMD cooler with AS5. Have tried on both Asus A8V and ASRock 939DualVSTA. I'm sure with more volts and good cooling, there could be a little more in the chip, but I haven't found it.

LOL you do know that running under ambient on normal watercooling is impossible? Must be the Experts temp sensor problem, many are off by 10 degrees. The Venus is an expert.

actually the temp is right, i'm not below ambient but very close to it about 3C, it's just this room is freaking cold and rad is the chills. I haven't heard anyone complaint about temps changes with the venus. I'll ask a few heads.

P.S i never said I was getting below ambient temps :p

EDIT: damnu v0dka you had me worry, I thought this problem came back but what you mention is a bios problem on the expert boards a while back. now to give her some more juice! :D

It sure was and on ultra-d boards like yours that had the same issue. basically alot of the opterons and some newer chips where not register in the bios's sensoring system and this is what cause the wrong temperature readings. now most of the bios have temperature offset settings for boards that misread unknown cpu temps. read this thread from a while back when this issue was new. anyways, thanks for the warning you had me worry for a second.

I spotted it on a forum thread that somebody was posting about newegg selling an 'openbox venus" board; so I jumped on it and scored a $300 board for $190.
You can probably find a site selling this limited edition board which DFI only made 2000 mine being #0200, in the price range of about $300-500. good luck finding on cheaper, i know i would not have paid more than $200 for it. lucky me :)

Nice, yeah I've seen those mobos, did you get yours in the nice jewelry box? (even though it was an open box)

I just bought today my EXPERT from newegg, in SALE!! for only $110, they are giving you an instant $50 discount. I have been told is the same mobo as the venus, but without the solid state capacitors all over the place. Wish me luck man! I hope I can get better overclocks than with the Asus a8n32-sli :slapass:

it came bare but who cares, the damn thing works good. :)
you're gonna love your expert, the a8n32-sli has nothing on it, except dual 16x pci-e slots, but that doesn't really matter since most cards will not saturate the full 16 lanes.
