This would be PERFECT.

Ya some of that didn't translate too good. But for the most of it did. Didn't look like they found a solution for the power supply.
I'm not quite sure, but I think socket F is a gimmick. Many heatsinks can fit it.
- bolt thru s939 heatsinks
- bolt thru s940 heatsinks
- am2 / am2+ heatsinks

Uhh... that was an awful lot of searching/work to do when you could have just looked up the hole spacing in AMD Socket F whitepapers... Anyway, yeah, the 2-hole mount for socket F is identical to the old socket 754/939/940 2-hole mount (but, obviously, not the same as AM2... AM2 coolers will only work if you have one of the socket 754/939/940 retention mechanisms in place).
*edit* ...and I know because I've been asked probably ten or fifteen times since the launch of Socket F. Anyway, I might be down for one of those setups... maybe. Certainly a screwy form factor with odd power hookups, though. I wonder if it would play nice with Ubuntu...
metal you sure that yellow thing is gonna fit? it looks like the screws are in the wrong place. there should one in the middle on either side right?
well its not a cleche then, you really do learn new things every day :)
im glad someone had the right answer, i never thought it would have fit otherwise.
I have an old s754/939 metal backplate and a bracket too i think.
No but if I get a board I could verify if it works ok...
I could stick it on the copier and fax a few to you though
Woah....someone else that knows what a fax is! Ok back on topic!
back off topic, who doesn't know what a fax is? back on topic, i want this board on my desk NOW!
oh I could totally use one of these right now. With just one CPU...then like every two weeks buy another CPU and heat sink and RAM.
thats what i'm saying! we need more buyers
What makes this one so special? Why don't we get one that doesn't require a funky power supply?
I wish I could get it before all of you so i can test it and see what are our options. We def need a test system!
edt : it does NOT require a funky power supply. a regular one with good connectivity should do
But we are going to need to mod the connector right?
yep. what is it, any green to any black to jump the psu? i think that's right
Wow....we better get this right before we blow some boards up...
lol yeah i'm sure there are plenty of people who know how to jump a psu. i've done it before.
just googled: yep i was right, green to black
