i think this chip got potential for more ocing. it's weird that i can run superpi 32M at 2850Mhz, but i can't play game or anything else. folding at 2850Mhz didn't last long either. i wonder if it's the memories that's holding me back. i just got these 2 sticks of dual channel ocz pc3200 rev. 2 plat. i'm using dfi bios 510-3fix. i have no idea what memory chips are on the sticks, so i can't use the proper bios. i'm assuming it's tccd chips. another thing is, i can run memtest at 280 and 285 with 1:1 mem timing, but windows doesn't like 1:1 timing and i have to use divider :(.
what cooling ?Quote:

anyone here running ocz pc3200 rev. 2 platinum dual channel 2x512MB on a dfi lanparty sli-dr and 3200 venice? i have this setup and my venice can oc pretty well. the problem i'm having is that the ocz mem can't run 270-290 htt with 1:1 sync with 1T timing. any ideas? if someone has a similar setup, please let me know. thanks in advance.
Had exactly the same problems dng29 with my 3200 0520 BPMW using bios 704-3, try disabling dynamic counter and tweak other ram settings
I ended up changing to 702-1 and much better now though I am sure you can fix the problem with ram tweaks but I have not got the perfect settings yet but sooooon :)
my 3200 venice is a week 19 with this code lbble 0519bpew. so far i can boot into winxp at 2900Mhz on an xp-120 on my dfi board. i can run superpi 1M fine, but that's about it. with 2850Mhz, i can pass 32M superpi and that's about it too. 2800Mhz is stable for gaming and folding and anything i throw at it. all these speeds were ran on a mem divider. i rather run 1:1 sync than async. I'd tried several bioses like 510-1fix, 510-2fix, 510-3fix, 704-3, and 510-3. none of these bioses will let me run 1:1 sync with htt at 270, 275, 280, 285 or 290 :(. i'll give 704-1 a try. i'm sure the chips on these sticks of ocz are tccd, but i'm tempted to take out the heatspreader and void the freaking warranty.
Have you ever seen a ybble 3000+/3200+ Venice?
i have not seen a ybble code, but i would like to see oc results. get cranking my good man :). have fun, good luck and hope it will oc like a rocket.
I just found one check out this post

can you give us a screenshot dng29 with you week 19 @ 2900 ?? with all the relevent settings like mine below, I have not tried 2900 yet but will soon, also I am running sync with the 702-1 :D

i'm at work right now, but i'll update you with my screenshots and settings. 2900Mhz is not 100% stable for me. 2850Mhz is somewhat stable since i can fold for hours. right now the pc is doing cpu burn-in and the room is freaking hot 28+ degree C :(.Quote:

got my venice 3000+, was a week 17 BPEW, from chiefvalue. a low spinning fan on it. stock volts on CPU, 2.6Vimm, this is what i got:
ran prime for 7 hours, no screenie, i was too pissed on my keyboard for typing 2 letters instead of 1, rebooted the pc, hoping i won't have to find a store open on sunday, was wrong :(

But thanks for the settings Lanero, if my ram works that high i could cast off my 166 divider and say hello to bandwidth :)
Alrighty. I received a 3500+ CBBLE 0512 DPAW yesterday. So far so good. I can pass 8M Super Pi up to 2.9ghz (290x10 1.55v) If it passes 8M then it will do everything I need without a hiccup. 32m is just to damn long!;)
I can get a suicide shot at 3ghz but I can't do much other than browse. Not to bad for a second hand cpu that I bought here for a great price!!! I have only had one other 2.8ghz+ cpu and it was a 3500+ claw that ran to damn hot. I am psyched to finally get a low voltage cool running 2.9ghz cpu!;) :toast:
There is no problem.
It is the configuration that better result has given me, can not reach results such but I believe that it can help to improve a little.
It is a pleasure to be able to help.
Until soon friends
3500+ LBBLE 0519DPHW results for this one isnt promiseing . did 2300mhz at stock voltage. required 1.47 to do 2400mhz . 2500 failed prime even up to 1.55 which is max limit of this board. max temp at 1.55 was 54c under load ,
Jen
I've always wondered if part of the reason some cpu's do so much worse than others is because of really bad IHS contact. I know that isn't the whole story but it may play a part.Quote:

I just took the IHS off my chip the other night and noticed that there wasnt any thermal grease in the middle of the core. But by removing the IHS I was able to go from HTT 326 to HTT 334 my heat dropped that much it went from 34-35c idle to 30-31c and doesnt even go over 40c under load. I also put some as5 on the chipset and it sits at 41c instead of 48c.

hmm I think I have the same issue as you...was it hard to take it off, how did u do it. and is it easy to crack the core, cuz i got a big heatsink.
good work 007!!! very nice

Yeah it's all luck, I never go out and look for a so called magic stepping / week.
I still have room to push it a little more, just don't want to give it more than 1.4 vcore untill I get better cooling. I just love these cheap 3000+ and getting a free 700+MHz
second that, we all do! ;)

More Mhz but needed a lot more volts for it
:(
NEED WATERCOOLING...
Is it safe to remove IHS and put XP90 on it ?
Or should i leave 7000B-alcu ?
I did a burnin last night and now I am able to run 1.68v instead of the high 1.76v to get 3GHz. I didnt expect to be able to drop it so much. That makes me think I didnt need that much to begin with. Do you guys think if I go with a dangerden water setup I will be able to go farther?
Nice OC Absolute_0 I was able to boot at HTT 336 but I dont know how stable she was. I just tried it to see if I could do it. But your lookin good there will low volts!!
Can anyone tell me if is this a good stepping ?
3000+Venice CBBLE 0521-CPDW I just got it about an hour ago, but before open it and test it, I like to make sure I got the good stepping, Thank you !
si tu le teste pas tu ne pourras pas savoir si c'est un bon step ou pas. car même dans les meilleurs step ils ya des bon et des mauvais... regarde les 0517BPEW par exempleQuote:

I was running 1.54v at 2.94 after a 24hr burnin. Originally I was running 1.76v at 3.06 but now I have lowered to 1.68v but I am not sure how stable she is right now with the volts that low so I am going to run some tests and see. She was prime stable at 1.76v (which I didnt get a ss) but I am not sure about now. I am going to run prime again. Also what kind of volts are people running is running 1.76v way to high? For Air...Quote:

Really, I thought if the temps were good then you could go over 1.7v but not to far over.Quote:

Anyway, i was completely unstable at 3015 and when i tried the next setting in clockgen, 302x, it blue screened. However, i am fairly sure it was my memory giving out and not my CPU, as i forgot to loosen my memory timings so my OCZ was doing DDR550 at 2.5-3-3-7 and i have to run 2.5-4-4-8 for those speeds.
hello guys

Nothing wonderful, but is not the worse one either than I have had.
I hope that with Big Typhoon it can improve it.

That's pretty good on stock volts. You'll be able to increase the voltage with the Big Typhoon and make it fly.
very good for week 19 :toast:
my 0517DPMW on stock voltage, it was stable OCCT at 2700MHz at 1.34V, i just tested two sp2004 at the same time.
one with small fft and one with large fft:

now i'll test at 1.34V primestable

OC looks really nice! Volts are really low you may just have to bump it up a little bit.
thanks boys :toast: .
In ahead I need there to increase 0.025v by each 50mhz:slapass: .
I will continue proving and raise results.
@ starostise
That if it is an excellent chip :slobber: .
Congratulations man.
i have a 3000+ LBBLE 0516DPJW seems i cant boot past 2.5ghz maybe its the mobo anyone else having problems with this stepping?
I had a 0516CPBW that needed 1.5v for 2.4GHz :stick:
And still some people say week 16 is good... at least I know how good they are...
I'll tell you guys that at first I wasnt able to boot at HTT 334 but went back into the bios and changed the tref setting and pow no more bsod's. For some reason I had to change from 2048 to 4672 in order for it to boot. That should tell you something. Its all about the mem timings. At least I think so.
Thanks njkid32, that's really good to know. When i was doing really high HTTs a while ago i would get lots of BSODS, maybe that will help.
Your welcome! Its funny I found a list of tref settings and cant get any of them to work. I tried all of them and bsod's all day. So what I did was lower everything and start in the bios at the first tref setting and worked my way down. When I was able to get into windows I opened A64 Tweaker and looked at the setting. After testing and testing I found that 166 7.8us (4672) was the fastest for my ram but memtest didnt like it. But it only gave a few errors and the funny thing was that windows loved it. That setting made windows more stable. But I am still testing so we will see what the outcome is....

My 3200 0520BPMW will not, under any circumstances go over 290 HTT  , I have tried every bios available with no joy so either it is the mobo, my TCCD or the CPU and after reading your post, maybe Tref, so I will try your advice :)

going to bench my venice from week 12 again. Got another waterblock and i think my ramtimings :banana::banana::banana:ed up my oc.
well folks here's a little update on my adventure in ocing my week 19 3200 venice. I finally decided to run prime95 because previous tests in prime95 failed miserably. This time around I didn't use the regular prime95, but the modified prime95 with the green GO box. I hope you know what I'm talking about. To my surprise this prime95 ran fine for 6+hours at 2850Mhz with mem divider at 180Mhz and vcore of 1.68 as reported by bios. Here's the kicker, i set ldt to 4x so with mem divider my memory is 259 as reported by cpuz. if i do the math right here 259x4x2 = 2072Mhz htt. That's slight over the specs of 2000Mhz htt. i used pretty tight timings for memories. btw, these are g.skill dual channel sticks. I got a screenshot of prime95 and will post when i get home from work. I'm thinking of dropping the vcore down a bit and see what will happen.

Real nice OC sdkevin! What are your temps and is this the limit of your chip or can you go higher? I almost picked one of those up a couple of weeks ago is why I ask.
sdkevin: try to tighten your memory timings, 29s is not bad, but it can be better. i get 29s with 1M superpi with my 3200 venice at 2900Mhz. is this 24/7 stable or just for show?
Summer here and it's hot so BIOS temp around 43C load, I'm using it for 24/7 I don't mind to bother tighten the memory timings since I need to wait my OCZ PC5000 back from RMA
anyone given the 0523 week venices a shot yet?
i finally found a shop close to my home where they wanne chk the stepping for me
they just received about 10x 0520 GPEW Venice 3200+ CPU's...
been lookin/googlin around, but cant find much about this stepping yet... anyone know if theyre any good?
is there also some other code of the stepping that i should pay attention too? (since they all have the same 0520 GPEW code allready :/)
If you can Mastakilla try and find one same as my 3200 in my sig, bloody awesome :D
2.8 Gig torture+ stable with only ~ 1.51 Vcore reported in windows :woot:
the first post 3000+ Venice stepping seem like no update pass 2months ago...

yea it's been a while since teh last update :(
Just got my 3200+ LBBLE 0519 APAW 10 minutes ago i'll slap it in and report back.
got alot of testing to go and some ram issues but ill do my best.
this will be water cooled.
i dont see any week 19 in the list if anyone has any results thus far for these post'em

Waiting for more Mhz! :toast:
With those temps you certainly have alot of headroom for voltage.
GJ Lestat I hope you got a good one! Maybe 3GHz on air;) Just take it slow! I know when I got my chip I was going higher and higher on the first day but it really didnt like it. It took me at least 1mo to get a good oc.
yeah i was just thinking about the whole "break in period" i figure tonight i'll Fold and/or Prime and let her get beaten up real good ;)
2.6ghz 1.45v
260mhz 1:1 but really loose ram cuz this OCZ stuff needs more volts and the board only gives 2.85 and i cant afford a ddr booster right now.
speaking of ram, this is something ive never asked anyone. and i know the answer or atleast i would like to think i do.
1:1 you need to raise the voltage as you go (atleast on non TCCD stuff) but when you run it on a multi say 166mhz the voltage dont matter does it until you get your ram back up to its rated speed.
so basically dropping the ram to 166 i can pretty much throw the lacking vdimm out the window for a while cant i ? since yout not really running the ram at lets say 260mhz its actually... errr ... 212 ? i think the math calculates out to ?
i was hoping i wouldnt have to make such a jump from 2.5ghz to 2.6ghz in cpu voltage but hey its still much less than my newcastle which wouldnt even do 2.6ghz.
I'd go with a blood sacrafice of a Noob to guarantee an awesome overclock. Why take a chance on quiet prayer when your victim's screams would be so much louder? ;)Quote:

ok well i am having an issue here and i must assume its the mobo.
right now it appears as if 2.6ghz isnt Pi stable. im getting Not convergience error. so i upped the voltage to 1.475 then 1.5v
ok now the bug... i have the bios set to 1.475v yet its only 1.45v in windows. i though ok just goofy reading. so i am at 1.5v yet its still being reported as 1.45v in windows by speedfan cpu-z and core center.
wierd this board has never had issues going up to 1.7v ... hhmm..
Is this some sort of a Venice bug ?
CPU-Z is actually jumping from 1.425 to 1.45 i HATE seeing that but seems like my Vcore is locked ?
If i apply the vcore with clockgen it wont change either.
im having the same problem. i just flashed to the latest bios too... wierd. anyone else??Quote:

Are you testing with a Digital Multi-Meter? Don't trust anything else.
Perc i found the issue.
once you hit 1.45v you need to use the % over VID like 3% 5% and so on.
so right now i am at 1.5v + 3.3% over VID
cpu-z says its like 1.55 ... maybe im using 5% i forget.
CPU-Z is showing some really floaty voltages i really dont like that. 1.52 then it goes 1.536 then 1.55
im also at 2650 1:1
32c idle 44c Prime95 load
i need a better 939 AGP based board. grr anyone got any suggestions.
dfi nf3 ultra-d or msi k8n neo2 platinumQuote:

i was looking at the ultra d last week but wasnt having much luck find alot of good stuff to say about it. It's like a mobo DFI put out and not many people have it.
ill have to look around some more.
seems like up to 2.5ghz im ok with default voltages but anything above that i really gotta crank the voltage.
but then again i just got it 8 hours ago so there is alot of break in period left.
what do you guys suggest i use to really pbreak it in properly just let prime run non stop or fold non stop ?
Has anyone else found the burnin effect to actually work with Venice chips
When i first started with this 0517DPMW it would hardlock at 2775Mhz in 2 systems.
After 1 day of stressCPU @ 1.55v 2700Mhz, it is now stable at 2820Mhz and hardlocks at 2830Mhz
After 2 further days of stressCPU/SuperPI and 1.55-1.65v, the CPU now does 2930Mhz SuperPi with no sign of hardlocking :stick:

I can also run it at 2900Mhz and run 1M superpi and that's it. this is on an xp-120. right now i got the cpu burning with stresscpu at 2800Mhz. i'm at work and hope that it doesn't crash when i get home tonight. 2900Mhz 100% stable will be a dream come true for me if this method works :).
Its a 3200+ 0517DPMW :toast: 1.64v above 2.8Ghz

2900Mhz fully stable now, 2930Mhz superPI
