Well, at least for me, it's as stable as 1850, but with added option for Extreme Tweaking and it plays good with Elpida Hypers.
There is one thing I noticed last night, that you could check for me, if you have time. And all you M4E guys. :)
Write Recovery time (tWR) is always set at 8, no matter the speed (1600/1866/2133) or Memory Boost, when set on Auto.
Thanks!
Oh you guys are evil !! Sergio has been gigaexorcised... don't push that Bclock 24/7 man... it's not worth loosing the board...

very nice !
I'm having a little problem here. I was using BIOS 1409 here without problems, now resolved now upgrade to version 1850, and the voltages are above the real values that I set in the BIOS.
In 1409 this did not happen, I decided to go back to this version, but the problem now persists in staying.
Example: set DRAM Voltage 1.65V (BIOS), real (sensor) is 1.68V, 0.03V in ever increasing, it happens DRAM Voltage, CPU PLL, VCCIO, VCCSA.
Does anyone know how to solve this now?
SS:
All options to AUTO in the BIOS, it looks like now:
http://www.abload.de/img/erromuz2.png
Don't know if it's the same problem but if they are anything like the sensor voltages on my P8P67-EVO then it may just be noisy readings. I noticed this on the EVO B2 and still there with the replacement B3. Using a multimeter showed at least the DRAM voltage was much steadier than the sensor would indicate.
voltages have always read a bit higher for me than what I set.
weird l0ud mine reads on all programs perfect what i set in bios
http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/116/5ghzsensor.png
dang would be nice to make the pics a bit bigger as no matter what i post it looks small
I really hope it's just an error of the sensor itself, because I could not return as it was before at all.
Here before the sensor showed values just as I left the BIOS.
Ex: All AUTO, showed 1.056V (VCCIO and VCCSA) showed DRAM 1.654V. Now the most is reading 0.03V at all options.
Here too was reading the voltages correctly andressergio. It was not until I update the BIOS and it started to happen. Any ideas?
Notice some of the hwmonitor volts are different to sensors, what sort of max/min do you get if left running awhile?[/QUOTE]
Looks good and doesn't break the board out to the right. A quick right click and view picture shows it in it's full glory, at least on FF.
yes hwmonitor does so, measure max and min, when load idle for ex, and volts are very accurate

i think so as it needs low vcore much lower than all the ones i tested, but look this SO weird, it booted passed POST and showed windows prompt till x59 on older BIOS now on this 1850 dont go over x56, also i was able to x51 with no internal PLL and with this bios only till x50 then needs it...so weird man, lovely board but i cant save my OC profiles like on giga so i flash i will loose all and im getting used to learn this bios, so once i write down all settings i will flash to try again, but its so weird i cant believe, or either something happened to the chip or the BIOS got confused
for now i can bench at 56x on low volts that i was searching so long for that
thanks for your mesage pol
i still have the x54 beauty i love that chip
cheers !

hey :)
Do I need to have LN2 switch on the maximus 4 set to on for overclocking or is that not needed?
mentions really low temps but is this ONLY for cold boot issues and nothing more?
also am I correct in thinking that with the PCI E slots for graphic cards..
For single card it would go into top red PCI-E?
If it's cross fire/SLI then one card would go into the second red slot and the other card
would go into the last red slot at the bottom?
thanks :)
Yes slot #3 will run at x8 speed. But this slot goes directly to the processor. Slots 2 and 4 go through the NF200 chip.
The short answer is not always. You should just go ahead and test SLI/Crossfire in slots #1 & #3 and then test with cards in slots #2 & #4 and you will see the difference.
Just Ordered this board and swap it with me P67A-UD7. I hope this board is good :) and good bios support !!! plz plz plz
Yes Can't wait to test the board.
Do i need to use both Molex Connector?
and any advice on best bios settings for 5ghz
So i only need the bottom molex, since the top one is for additionnal CPU Power..
And the bottom one for PCI-E Lanes?
Hi,
I want to put my Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card into the PCIe 4 x slot at the bottom of the board. If this slot is populated does it degrade any other PCI slots?
I've looked in the manual, but still left me unsure.
thanks :)
Wow.... I put everything together...
First boot...
No POST, Red light close to the 28pin connector lights up, and its the CPU Led...
WTFFFF
nvm it as the stupid LN2 mode switch , ON by default... thats pretty dumb
ln2 mode is off by default, thats how i got mine(OFF)
Mine was ON hahah :\
I am upgrading my secondary rig from Bloomfield to Sandy Bridge with a P8P67 LE. I decided to move my current 2600k from my main rig to the P8P67 LE and go buy a new 2600k hoping I would get a good batch (or at least one that is better than my current chip). I just returned from getting a 2600K from Microcenter Batch# 3103B306. I am excited as this batch is almost identical to Hazzan's 59x 3103B326 chip and posts here on XS state 3103B3XX chips tend to be great clockers.
I am going to redo some of my watercooling and swap chips and will post my test results shortly:)
I don't know why but the 2 chips i bought online are costa rica, and costa rica tend to overclock badly :\
Hi,
Looking for some advice please...
I've just got my system built.
But I cannot install windows 7, I get as far as the "windows is now loading" and that's s far as I can get.
bios is latest and also default settings.
I've tried to also run memtest but the system just reboots.
I've removed all contacted USB devices apart from the keyboard
Running the following...
2600k
Mushkin ridgeback (2x8gb)
Enermax 1000w psu
1 x ati card
pioneer bluray drive
With a Noctua d14 cooler.
No other settings in bios have been changed.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
Sorry my error 2 x 8gb
http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/...roductId=44358
This is the ram Im using
In the manual it shows to install ram in A2 & B2 so that's red slots 2 and 4
Yes I can get in to bios.
I have SSD drives.
But it seems odd I cannot run memtest from the cd. The system just resets before loading memtest.
I've just pulled the second stick out and tested. Same result. So I swapped the sticks over. Same result again. So it seems each stick on their own makes no difference.

Still hunting for a better chip:rolleyes:
just got the maximus iv extreme-z, and I was wondering if there was anyway to run 2 video cards on x16/x16?, it seems for 3 cards I can do x16/x16/x8 but for 2 cards the manual says x8/x8 which I found kind of weird.
What voltage should be change for overclocking i7 2600k for 5.0ghz+. I have Maximus IV Extreme-Z68? Where in the BIOS, the QPI Voltage
Thanks
Put them in slots 2 & 4 to run both at 16x, but if you have time, test them in slots 1 & 3 at 8x both. You should get slightly better results. ;)
If you want to run 3 graphic cards at 16x, you should use slots 1, 2 & 4.
Except obvious (vCore) you should try playing with VccSA & VccIO, which are something like QPI/VTT. Many say VccIO is the key, but I would not forget about VccSA. Don't forget DIGI+ VRM section. :yepp:
After all the faffing aroud. As soon as I disable Marvell in BIOS, windows will install and the immediate issues I was getting have gone.
Anyone any ideas why Marvell would do that?
I have Intel Sata as RAID for a Raid 0 setup.
thanks
Where is QPI/VTT voltage in bios.? I have bios version 0210? I tried updating the bios but it says this: Selected file is not a EFI BIOS. please help. Can anyone tell me instructions.
Thanks
Where to download bios version 1850 because it is not on the website http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Int...emeZ/#download
thanks
No, no, no, andressergio, he has M4E-Z.
M_T_M, there is no QPI/VTT voltage, as I said, VccIO and VccSA are the voltages for memory controller, DMI, IO, etc.
And then is 0403 last bios for M4E-Z?
What is the max voltage for 24 / 7.? I have i7 2600k on water.
I have problem with overclocking my i7 2600k. My settings:
Vcore: 1.44V
LLC: 100%
Dram Voltage: 1.65V
PWM mode: Extreme
VFFM: 350
Vcore phase control: Extreme
VCCSA/IO: 1.20V
I got a BSOD code: 0x000000124. Please help
124 = raise vcore most likely solution
How much is the max voltage for 24 / 7.? I have i7 2600k on water?
@M_T_M
Depends on your cooler, but I don't go over 1.5-1.52V for 24/7. :D
Some will say that it is too high, but it all depends on how long you want your CPU to last. I don't need mine to last 10 years. ;)
@i_max2k2
Glad to help. :) Yeah, it's on water. Hardly ever goes over 50°C.
You were right! Ran 3D mark (Vantage/11) on both 2/4 and 1/3 configs with my 470 SLI, and 1/3 was better even being at x8 (by about 200-300 points), I'm guessing 1/3 is native Z68 Chipset lanes, and in 2/4 is it 16 lanes from P67 and 16 lanes from NF200?
Yesterday I tried overclocking my vanilla 580 (stock hsf), I was able to get upto 950/1900/4250 @ 1.15v, that was the max voltage I think evga's bios allowed, and for some weird reason, I dint have issues while doing artifact scanning at lower volts, but as soon as I ran 3D mark 11 the drivers crashed, this happened several times, I cleaned up my drivers, that dint help, then I tried increasing the voltage and thats when I realized the issue was lower voltage, but I would think in such circumstances I would artifacts atleast in Furmark or something, did something like this happen with your cards too?
The ambient temps were low and on max loads I wasnt going over 74c in Furmark/3D mark 11/ Vantage, so I think I have a little more headroom for slight higher voltage, and in 3d mark 11 I went from P6500 to ~ P7400, which I thought was pretty significant, this is my first experience with ocing the 500 series, and it seems fermi scales very well after 900Mhz. But I'm not sure what are safe voltages/temps for these cards for 24/7 use, how much voltage are your cards running on?
Lanes 1&3 are 8x each directly to the CPU. Lanes 2&4 are 16x each through the NF200 chip which adds latency causing the lower scores.
Ok that makes sense, so now I'm wondering, in a TRI SLI situation, when we have cards split up between NF200 and P67/Z68, would the performance actually degrade because of this latency? Not sure how that would work, I'm just guessing that the some lanes will be going to the chipset some to NF200.
Quick one for you. How's the bios support been for the P67? I'm about to get a Z68 but I have an offer on a P67 that I might take up and save some cash. If the bios support for the P67 has been lacking since the Z68 came out I'll just put out the extra cash for the Z68. If the P67 support has been up to par then I'll save some cash. I just don't want to end up with a board with no bios updates.
Thanks
Bios support has been great for MIVE and pretty often:up:
yes, Maximus IV Extreme, not Z
Thanks brother!
I run my cpu at 1.06v on manual but when I try to enable offset so that the cpu will run at less volts when idle I cannot adjust the volts as they reset at 1,2v.
Is there anyway to run manual at 1.06v and also enable the cpu to idle at .08 ?
Thanks.
Hey,
Firstly I want to thank andressergio for the help he has given me to even get the system working and OC'd. As I did initially have some problems that was driving me crazy.
RIG:
MOBO: Maximus IV Extreme
CHIP: 2600k (Costa Rica) @ 4.8Ghz
Noctua D14 (swapping out for a Antec 920)
8GB Mushkin Redline Ridgeback #997000 2 x 4GB @ 2133 9-11-9-28 1T
BIOS: 1850
100 x 48
CPU Vcore: 1.45v
Dram: 1.65v
VCCIO: 1.08125v
Everything else AUTO.
Was wondering if someone would please advise on what else I need to change that is set as AUTO.
And also any other BIOS settings for a 4.8 OC.
I have taken screenies of the BIOS in full to ensure nothing is missing. And uploaded to imgshack.
Sorry to upload so many images but thought better to than miss something important.
Any help / advice greatfully accepted.. (thanks)
