For the love of god stop asking what the latest mBIOS is their all listed on the first page and its very self explanatory! *deep breaths*
Well, after about the zillionth PM\MSN msg\ asking in this thread, it wears a bit thin somebody asking what the latest mBIOS is :p:
That was classic.
...and if that happens I turn green screaming "Hulk SMASH!" :p:
Hi Ket. What's the latest mBIOS for P5Q-E? Can you make me a custom one which magically makes my CPU do 6GHz?
Thanks. I look forward to your next mBIOS release. I appreciate your work, it's awesome.
Hi Ket. Is my mBIOS ready yet?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Lmao @ Dee.
So True :ROTF:
:p:
R O F L !
Any idea how to get 4500Mhz stable with my pc specs? i kinda get it stable with 10x450 but not with 9x500, not sure what voltages to set.
Anyone broken 600MHz FSB on this board? Or should I be looking at a different board for that?
I'm sure its possible with the right hardware. FSB largely depends on your CPU and settings. Mainboards are rarely the cause of FSB walls in the grand scale of things.
I did a quick search but didnt find anything. Are there any modded bios for the p5q ws workstation board?
The latest bios on Asus' page is version 1307
Would the mBIOS 1307 for the P5q or P5q Pro work with this board?
If the board hasn't been talked about, theres no mBIOS for it.
Hi Ket,
I play with m1307 for days and have some fun. After flashed the 1406, it boots with ASUS logo? I did clear BIOS (jumper and took battery out) but ASUS logo stay still. Without that dragon I'm not sure if I using mBIOS? What do I missed Ket?
Thanks
I just didn't change the boot logo for the 1406m versions as I still wasn't fully up and running when I done them, your not missing anything with the 1406m versions apart from the custom logo ;)
Hey guys, my abit ip35pro finally died after like a year so I ordered one of these p5 pro boards. One question does it have a full reboot after you change any bios settings like some of the P35 and earlier boards do.
That is your cheap keyboard "no offense". Mine never does that but, my fiance's did however and it was a little bit cheaper of a model then mine. Hers also has a bug where the keyboard doesn't respond right away at the login screen for Vista. It is kind of like they said f it and made the cheaper keyboards just that cheaper.
"I just didn't change the boot logo for the 1406m versions "
m1406 is awsome Ket. I keep all setting the same as m1037, 1 core fail prime at 1hr instead of 30min with m1037. Others 3 cores passed prime up to 7hrs (when I stop the test). It looks like I'm closer to the sweetpoint.
"does it have a full reboot"
Do you mean the double boot? If so, YES, but not every change cause that. I don't pay much attention on that since P965 because they all have that feature but I noticed that with P5Q though. What's PITA for your IP35pro. After I did 2 Vmods, I got almost 0 Vdroop and 0 Vdrop and my Q6600 run 400x9 @ 1.4Vcore, 24/7 for 4 months now. I also did bolt mod on it.
"You know one anoying thing i hate about this P5Q-PRO, is that i have to use a PS/2 keyboard when overclocking because if i get a bad overclock and reboot my pc refuses to go into the bios with my USB keyboard its really anoyying but if the overclocks are fine it works with a USB keyboard"
I don't have any trouble with USB keyboard though. Mine is Logitech MX3200. It just works perfectly.
for my experience on p5q pro on my E8400 c0
I got the similar issues as CandymanCan
but i am using OCZ 1066 1GB x2
however, i have set 1000mhz .ram voltage set to 2.1v for default
other bios setting as follow:
8x500 1:1
vcore 1.35v
NB / FSB 1.22v
PLL 1.52v
have disable cpu features and spectrums etc
its stable and pass orthos and memtest without issue
however, there are program errors sometimes, such as firefox and BSOD while playing games.
i think i still have to fine tune the bios setting later on
but , i am sure that the system isnt more stable even the nb/fsb voltages are set higher :( e.g. >1.3v
for my ram , i dont know if it is not overclockable to 1100 or due the memory compatibility to p5q pro
because the system crashes on orthos and memtest after a few sec, even if i set vram to 2.2/2.3/2.4 and 6x550 for the speed.
p.s. i have used the mbios 1307, however, the changes are not noticeable
hey ppl
just a quick question, my P5Q PRO has gone a bit funny in the audio department. i get bad static in all sounds now (i think ive killed the sound card) it started when i was overclocking with the original bios, and now i have Ket's latest bios it is still there. ive even tried updating the sound drivers from asus's, and realtek web site.
if anyone knows an answer to my problem it would be great :)
waiting for uber bios i'm sure that it will be crasy good :)
i've install last 1406 but even boot logo isn't changed :( what is changed there?
waiting for uber :)
Care, Dee, True, your all the official "dumb questions patrol" police for this thread when I'm not around, feel honoured. :D :p:
I just flashed my board to 1406m and its working great with my E8600 ES. I have it running @ 4GHz with 1.22 under load during P95. Temps are only 35c too. I'm just wondering if updating through Asus EZ Flash full erases the boot block, or if I should reflash the BIOS using aufdos?
EZ Flash is basically the Windows flasher thing, the Windows flasher erases the bootblock if its been updated, so EZ flash should too.
Anymore results for the 1406m? There hasn't been much on it yet.
Right now here's what I'm at.
E8600 @ 450x10 on a P5Q Pro
vCore: 1.384v under load (CPU-Z)
FSB Strap: 333MHz
GTL Ref: Auto
NB: 1.10v
CPU PLL: 1.50
FSB Voltage Termination: 1.20
vDIMM: 2.1v
SB: Auto
I can stay in Windows all day, P95 Small FTT fails after 2 mins. Not sure if I need to up the vcore, or some other voltage? Any ideas? I can run 440x10 with all the same above settings only 1.34 vcore no problem.
Ok I got a .8 ns increase from switching which was 52.8 by the way not to shabby. I haven't touched my overclock yet though. It is cold here maybe I will do some cold air benching tonight and see how far I can get with this bad boy .
I swear this motherboard can not get over 490 FSB for me at all. I tried everything possible including disabling Load Line Cal.. and it was plenty cold enough.
The P5Q BIOS pack (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CYL4M0TJ) isn't working for me. Anyone else able to get it to download? I really need to try the P5Q Pro 701m BIOS.
no problems at all here. cant say anything on overclockability tho, I'm taking a break from that right now.
The only bios that let me stably get past 490 fsb was 703m. Maybe you should give that a shot. However one problem with 703 (for me at least) is that it almost always fails to resume from S3 standby, and it sometimes resets the entire bios as well. Got too annoying for me so I switched to 1406.
I will give it a shot ty.
i know i posted this b4 but no one answered me
if i go back to default in my bios it boots at 266 FSB and not the 333 FSB.
on the OCing side of it, i got 4 GHz stable:yepp: tho i cant get the vcore any lower then 1.4 in windose. (this is my first time at overclocking) At 3.825 GHz my vcore is 1.29/1.30 in windose.
ill post my settings for 4 GHz tonight when i get home
hi guys: any suggestions to my bios settings??

guys: true or false.... disabling the USB legacy supports helps to prevent RAM/BSOD errors in vista with asus mobos???? i read that on another forum
Quote:
With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts as well and test the system with www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Anybody know where do the vdrop pencil mod on P5Q-E
or is not yet known
because my stupid striker has a voltage reg problem and keeps blowing up and so i cant ever get to finish building it  lol
my original gamer is even slower lol its
AMD 6000
m2n-sli
corsair xms2 800 MHz
X-fi xtream audio
2 x 250GB Seagates in Raid o
2 x 8800GT's overclocked
Give up on the gamer and use your lan box as the powerhouse? :p:
Well I have been gone for a little bit of time now 24hrs lol. I figured I would post a pic of what I was doing. I was cutting holes in my case so I could tuck my cables out of the way better and to get better air flow. Here is what it looks like. I know the video card is bending a little but, it will be ok I'm sure. I actually lost my Keyboard and Mouse in this process "the USB wireless controller broke" and my spot cool broke as well.
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/2010/nowiresyw7.jpg
Not looking too bad in there  That nest of cables at the bottom could do with some zipties tho :p:
They are all going into a hole I put there to run the cables out and around the back of the case :p:. I do need to tidy it up a little if possible. Though it's probably not going to be very much, and I need to move that one stray fan wire at the top left, that thing is irritating. :p:
Not quite bigger then the power supply but, I will never have to fill water or worry about a leak and they happen eventually unless you tend to it enough to actually catch it before it can do damage I guess but, still I would rather not have to worry about it TBH.
I still like air better, its easier to move a system using air than it is one thats using water.
Exactly I just don't like the extra work that comes with it I'm sorry.
:D
haha if weight is problem whit coolers

Lol I guess you can say that yes. :p:
For a long time WC intimidated me somewhat. I figured it just had to be complicated. After watching Linus from NCIX do the WC tech tips I saw that it was pretty damn easy these days. I'd probably give it a shot in a future build.
btw truehighroller has the TRUE120 and it weighs in at 700g or so iirc. I have the same one and it's great but I would go w/ the Xigmatech HDT1283 in hindsight. probably weighs less too.
Ihave somthing strange
after RMA my P5Q the reading of temp. and voltage change especil. the vin3 and auxtin temp
and also the drop in cpu voltage increase
in the old mobo. the drop was 0.002 at load but with this the drop is 0.016
why?

the old one

CPU-Z in mainboard tap the same mobo. version
I used to watercool, but it didn't really net me much better overclocks, so i went back to air because its just so much simpler.
My P5Q Dlx is still going strong. I love how i don't have to worry about the bios resetting its settings unlike previous boards i've had :D
Ket,
I registered just to say Thanks for the BIOS. I’m using the latest 1406 on my plain old Asus P5Q .
Before using your BIOS I could not get my Patrior Viper Series Ram to go 1mhz over DDR2-1066 (533mhz). I finally was able to get a mild overclock of the RAM and got it to 1111Mhz. I stop trying to go any higher and decided to mess with the timings instead. Before your BIOS the ram would only work at it’s rated speeds of DDR-1066 @ 5-5-5-15.
I am now running at:
9x400 3.6Ghz
FSB NB Strap 400 Mhz
Ram Timings - 4-5-5-14 at 2v (patriot lists the ram at 2.3v)
Ai Clock Twister - Stronger
Ai Transaction Booster - Performance Level – 6 (before 7 was the best I could boot)
Besides the ram all my other voltages are set to auto.
I am still going to tweak the timings some more, but this ran Prime95 for 20-hours and Everest Stress test for 5-hours without a hiccup.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the awsome Bios files Ket!
Do you think you'd be able to open up one of the new x58 board bios files and extract the key in it that would allow you to run SLI on an Intel board and stick that key in a p5q bios to allow SLI with the new forceware drivers?
Am I the only with these annoying problem:confused: When I wake up pc from sleep, all case vents are only on 500rpm.
Is this bug in vista(x64) or in bios? Ket can you fix it? Future to set each vent own profile like mf2 have would be also nice ;)
hi there ket,
first time poster after finding this list, I downloaded and the 1406 m bios for p5q deluxe, I was running the asus one before.
ok so what ram have you added, i have crucial ballistic 2gb*4 so 8gb in total 4-4-4-12, is that in the list ???, what else is different please, i have read all the posts and cant quite fathom. am running a q6600 in the board at stock most of the time but have an oc profile of 3.2ghz at 8*400 which is memtest, linpack and prime 95 stable.
cheers
brummie:welcome:
Been out of the loop for a while...the P5Q-Deluxe died about a month ago and I just got it back from RMA this week. Got the system set up last night and I'm ready to play with this E8400 E0 I got to replace the Q6700.
Sorry if this has been asked before (trying to sift through the off-topic posts gave me a headache), but what seems to be the best mBIOS for people running the Deluxe with an E8400?
Firstly Thanks for all your input and support on this thread... I have been reading ever since I purchase my P5Q Pro a few months ago, I have only now found the time to upgrade my BiOS and begin tweeking my system. Good work
I am confused as to which of your mBIOS releases I am best to use with the Q9550.
This is my build;
P5Q PRO
Intel Q9550
4 x 2GB Corsair XMS 6400C5DHX CL5-5-5-18
Windows Server 2008
I am also running a RAID10 via the Intel Matrix Controller, is upgrading the BIOS and reseting the CMOS likely to blow this away... That would suck!
Cheers
Updating your BIOS doesn't blow away any RAID config. Just re-enable the RAID controller after you're done with the update and you're good to go.
Sorry for asking this if it's already answered a long time ago in this thread.
Do I really have to install the MegaUpload toolbar to be able to download the modded BIOS's?
http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...47GHz1368v.jpg
Setting CPU Margin Enhancement to Performance on Ket's 1406 BIOS for the P5Q-Deluxe seems to have fixed some instability issues for me. May try for higher later, or a lower vCore. Yeah, higher sounds good.
Also seems to have fixed my vDroop. I was getting about .025v vDroop under load, but now it's been locked to 1.368v the whole night. Still have vDrop, I believe I have my voltage set to 1.375v in the BIOS (which is odd because I didn't have ANY vDrop with the Q6700 below 1.4v) but I'm happy.
Probably the best mBIOS versions to try are;
703m
704m
1104m
1201m
1406m
I have found when it comes to Micron ICs 703m\704m appear to have the best compatibility, bootable with my GKX D9 kit up to 1300MHz. Nice desktop of Keeley Hazel YMAA :D
Hey Ket.
Thanks for the work on the Bios.
Question about the bios and a specific setting. I have read when you overclock that you should set "SOMETHING" in the bios to 33mhz so that the FSB doesn't creep up on other hardware, as you increase FSB on the CPU.
Here's a screenshot, it's called : PCI Clock Synchronization
Link http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=515316
I believe it is the second actual picture from within the bios. I can't find this setting for the life of me in your bios. I'm sure it's called something else now. If you could just point me in the right direction please.
Also, a question about flashing. I use the Asus Update Utility from within the windows environment. Two things. Do YOU recommend another/safer way?
Also, that utility comes with with something built in called My Bios which more or less lets you change/create your own Bios Flash Screen. Do you have any opinions on this? Thanks again Ket.
BTW....if there is some magic "guide" out there for the 1406 Bios that shows you step by step, item by item of what everything does, I sure wish someone would point me to it. Thanks.
