remember that the a8n32-sli mobo overvolts everything by 0.0625 volts, so maybe set it at 1.2875 v (1.2875 + 0.6025 = 1.35) and see if ypur temps go down and it passes prime. I got the same mobo.Quote:

Hey Guys,
Ordered my 165 on Friday afternoon and paid a bit extra so it would be delivered today. Fortuenlty according to Fed-Ex tracking it's on the truck for delivery, yeah! Anyway I'll post back soon with steppings.
CCBBE0616XPMW @ the 3ghz mark 1.56v

Sweet my Opty 165 just arrived! I'm very excited because I got the same exact steppings as buttmud, CCBBE 0616 XPMW! Can't wait to install this processor and see how it will run! I'll post back as testing goes on.
A lot of those 0616 popping up now.
my 0610 still rawks, 2.9 1.44 :)
mine is on air. temps are a bit high but i believe thats because i need to reseat my big typhoon.
Hey buttmud,
I'm running a DFI SLI-D and I was wondering what RAM settings your running for 3.0Ghz? Not every settings just divider and FSB? Obviously we need to run divider because of low 9.0x multiplier so I'm trying to get an idea what dividers and what FSB speeds you guys are running. Thanks
my ram is TCCD, but either my ram or motherboard has been messing up on me because i can't get high speeds. i can run ddr500 @ 2.5-3-3-6 1t (roughly). but to play it safe right now i just run a 133 divider and DDR400 2-2-2-5 1t @ 2.85v on both speeds.

(core temp), will try again the 3.0 ghz when the artic ceramic sets. Yeah, I'm a big wuss, I should use artic silver 5, but I don't want it to make contact with the little transistors and f..k up the chip. Besides cermamique is very good too.
got an opteron 185 ( got it silly cheap )
running 225x13 at the moment.

superpi stable
dual stressprime stable
load temps at 41
cpu at 1.375 volts sofar. no signes of any instability sofar. there seems to be LOTS of headroom.
Wow, great job pawl, nothing like running at 2.9Ghz on a measly 1.375v! I havn't even installed my new 165 because I'm trying to figure out what drivers, patches, and optimizers I need to use if any? I read the thread here about X2 drivers but not sure if all that is needed?
roger, all i did was take out my fx-55 and replace it w/ the new opteron that i got. runs like a dream w/o any optimizations or patches or anything. just swapped it and windows detected a new proc.
Good idea then buttmud, I suppose I could just let it be until a problem arrises and take it from there. Thanks for the reply!
Dont make us wait just go get that headroom now.Quote:

Whats the full stepping on that 185 ? What cooling you got on it ? Run Core Temp Beta 0.93 let us know what your TCaseMax & TDP are theirs a sport...
(sorry to seem a bit demanding---and no im not a copper)
Were just curious :)
my 185 is CCBBE 0613 rpmw - i havent seen many 0613's about.
runing 29.5 superpi 1m
just played 4 hours of WOW now with perfect stability.
il checkout those other temps tomorrow. running BOINC overnight to checkout if this is stable,
memory is ballistix pc4000 2gb kit. 3339 timing at 2.55 v
hey guys. iv got an Opteron 165 CCBWE 0607 @ 2.43GHz (stock vcore) and im having some problems with my ram clocking. i have 2 x 512MB PNY DDR500 ram (stock timings of 2.5 - 4 - 4 - 7 2T) i want to try to get the ram as close as to DDR500 speeds as possible but i cant. i tried to set my opteron at 300 x 8 with 1.40 vcore and it worked but when i tried to set my ram to run at its closest to stock speed, it didnt boot. it hung on the xp boot screen. am i doing something wrong here as far as ram settings or is it my processor overclock that is preventing me from getting my ram and cpu overclock to work stable together? also, i do have my ram voltage set to 2.80. iv even tried 2.85 too. still nothing. can anyone help with this? thanks.
well you want to find your CPU max clock and RAM max clock seperately. find your max RAM clock by lowering the multiplier, and find your CPU max clock by using the smallest divider. then you have to find a happy medium.
^^ that's a lot of work summed up in two sentences, but that's where you have to start. also that stepping opteron has a very weak AND sensitive memory controller. even more so that other BW memory controllers. expect your max stable OC to be around 2.6ghz if on air.

I can get 2950 Mhz @ 1,52 V orthos stable. I´m running on water (see my
sig).
One thing that find strange is the diference in temperatures, reported by
coretemp, in full load between the 2 cores more than 10ºC.
Is this normal ? what can be the explanation ?
my previous settings were 100% stable so i decied to move up. CPU1 would fail prime almost istantly. tried some extra volts which helped a bit. but i suspect my limit lies at around the 3000 level. my crappy MSI mutha bored isnt great with upping the cpu volts so il have to hang about here.
im using ballistix memory and it just take everythign i throw at it. so ive moved to the 12x multi and gone for some extra bandwidth.
2950 isnt that bad really as a 24x7 clock.

you're just unlucky on the stepping pal, 0607s are to be avoidedQuote:
