madcho, your specs look good, take mercs advice and set your ram as 2T. Also make sure that you have the most up to date bios or atleast one that is known to be good. Your mobo will support that video card and the seasonic psu is great. What brand of ram are you using and what chips are in it?
Lastly, with that low of a multiplier I suggest you find the max of ram and cpu seperately. If you do not know how I can suggest a good guide, but it is english.
he is using gskill HZ, 2*1gb pc4000 3-4-4-8, samsung UCCC.

With my BSOD, my firefox goes bad .... it don't save my settings even i close it ... :(
I installed a week before my 6800GS, maybe the drivers are to fighting inside the system. :slapass:
I had 1 BSOD in reboot and two freeze when i boot :(

I'm in a dilemma, according to CORE TEMP my max cpu temp should be 57 C, when I run orthos for a couple of hours it is at 58 C, but the mobo's CPU temp probe says its 45 C, who should I trust? Core temp or the mobo's probe? (asus a8n32-sli)

After ordering it (like 5 minutes later) I saw that thy were out of stock. (order was made the 31st), Now they have them in stock again, so I don't know if that new batch they just got are good :confused:
Core temp, I have same mobo, since core temp used the sensors on the cores themselves and the mobo probe measures ambient close to the CPU, I think?
BTW I got my Zalman grease in, and also lapped back mine to the copper, hasn't shown any difference, but I need to let the grease set in again, looks promising because right now my temps are at where they are usually after setting in. Hopefully I won't need to remove my IHS, but I picked up the tools with my sandpaper just in case.

madcho, just so you know you will not be able to get much out of the ram. The max I have ever gotten my UCCC is 255, could go higher, but I would have to use extremely loose timings. Any ways tight timings are much better than 10-20 more Hz.Quote:

The problem i think is not from memory and cpu ... this mobo is realy dead ...
i think i have broken it two weaks ago with trying an xp120 and i don't use the good screws. the mobo was undulated in the case.
The mobo make somes bugs, and i remove the xp120 and see that the mobo was not corectly inside my case.
The headpipe of the chipset is getting higher than 85°c @ stock speed in 3d games ...
I test evrything on other computer ... i test with other cpu ( my last 3700+) and other graphic card ... but ... nothing go well.
i change the whole drivers ... nothing go better :(
=> go to computer seller ..; and change it ... i don't see any other solution. :mad:

My full load right now hits about 48/50, second core is the hottest, overall I haven't seen much improvement with the Zalman Grease over the AS5, besides beign easier to apply, I'm hoping I will see some once the grease primes. I'm about to order new Opty 165 or 170 and would like to know your thoughts on 170? I just read through the last few pages of thread but didn't read much about the 170's? I'm curious because I'd really like to have the 10x multi but if their not clocking that well that I can live with 9x multi! Thanks guys for any opinions, suggestions, or personal experiences with the 170!

My friend took the little resting pads from an old Athlon XP, and glued them to his X2 without IHS, maybe if you have access to that, you can do the same thing. You probably gonna need to mod your mobo (the retention mechanism or the heatsink so it will make full contact with the core, since the IHS is so thick...) IMHO, it's better to get watercooling, there are are not Heatsinks and fans, as "nastiest" as they can be, that can beat watercooling.Quote:

I think I must be doing something wrong, I removed my IHS, I nicked a capacitor :( but it is still running :) I lowered back down to stock temps and I have worse temps now, I sanded down the socket so it would sit on the core as flat as I could, as of now it doesn't even hit the raised part of the socket.

I spread a thin layer of Zalman Grease on the core and also on my HSF, but I had better temps before with my heatspreader on lapped back to the copper. :( the stuff on the IHS was very thick and hard btw, my articlean had a hard time getting it off!
any ideas? maybe use more compound? I can't even put it to 2.7Ghz because temps are so much higher.
Hey Acrobuddy,
I did the same thing about 4 weeks ago, accept I didn't cut anything accept the heatspreader seal! Anyway I pulled the spreader off and mounted my waterblock directly onto core and the temps were great (about 2-5C lower on average). Well because I was going to move my CPU to another rig I put the heatspread back on and the temps went through the roof! This was despite using AS5 and making sure the heatspreader made contack with core. I messed around a bit and tried remounting the heatspreader a couple times but no luck. Long story short I just ened up leaving the heatspreader off. Here is now I mount my waterblock on naked core.
To get the waterblock to seat properly onto the core I used a couple strips of rubber weatherstripping which I cut into 4 2in sections. I then mounted the weatherstripping pieces to my motherboard around my socket (two on each side of socket so that they ended up being about 1/4" above height of top of socket).
This way when I lowered my waterblock over the 2 studs screwed into backplate the block would sit evenly on CPU core. Because the weatherstripping I used was rubber and sat above the height of socket I had to actualy squish them down a bit before waterblock made contact with core. Having that extra support on each side of core really helped to keep even pressure on core so that I didn't end up crushing one side of core!
Last but not least instead of using two screws to secure waterblock to motherboard I mounted two studs into backplate and used thumbscrews to tighten down the waterblock. Although this seem very similar to just using two screws it allowed much better feel when tightening down the waterblock helping me to not put too much pressure on core.
I think I found my errors, using the Zalman Grease compound, I don't have anymore AS5, but I do have some Ceramique, so I used it, in the picture before you could see at stock my loads were around 48, right now load is about 42, I feel if I has AS5 it would be lower, just seems the Zalman stuff is applying too thin, I mean when I pull off my HSF I can see how thin it is and that the application isn't smooth.
The Zalman stuff works better on an IHS then the core itself, that's all I can say here.

same as you CCBBE 0615EPMW, and i will be going for 3ghz at some point, gonna see how far I can get on air first.
okay before removing IHS at 2.7ghz my loads were ~50/52C, right now I'm getting ~47/48C gonna wait for AS5 to set and see what I can get.
