Well its a start, no way to get your ram to 2000 ? seems a waste to run 2000mgz ram at anything below that. What muliplyers do you have on the quad ? 7x 8x 8.5x ? what is the next lowest below 9x ??? why cant you drop the multi and raise the fsb. I looked in the 9650 overclock thread, i see people using 8x multi do you have a 8x ? 8x ?
Yes neo i have tried even 1.38 vtt and still fails. Ram is 4gig and in the white slots 2gig of each module.Heres what it auto sets in bios when i put in 7-7-7-20 1t

Fails prime95 straight away core 3 on blend test and in small ftt it runs ok so its got to be memory settings i persume as blend test fails straight away and ftt test which only tests cpu runs on .
Attachment 95425
The CPU does have multiply options to go to 8.5 8.0 even 7.0.
9.0 is the default. I'll try lowering that tonight, tho it would mean more FSB to get to 4.0ghz not sure that is going to help.
Re: 2000 mem, sure it's a bit of a waste but I want to be linked and synced for best performance, L&S 2000 with this CPU means 4.5mhz. I only have a thin dual rad water cooling setup and I'm not just cooling the CPU the whole MB is cooled including the mosfets. I highly doubt this CPU and mother board combo is going to run linked and synced at 2000fsb with anything greater than 2GB of RAM.
I did attempt 2000 L&S once, it would not even post. I had to clear CMOS just to get back into bios. I may try it again later with just one stick installed but it would just be for chits and giggles.
I bet you money you can get 2000 linked and synced with 4 gigs of memory, your quad will do 4+ easy dude, i seen them hitting 4.5 and more, the 8x multi is your key, 8x500 4.0 processor, 2000 ram:up:, try 4 gigs and see, i will post my settings you can try them, 8gigs of ram is asking alot, you may have to settle for 4 gigs, at 2000, or return your ram and get 8 gigs of 1800 ram, i will post my settings, we see what happens.
Here Trigger try this, now im running a e8500 not a quad, so if dont work, then it is cpu settings, you havent even playe with the gtl voltages yet, and anadtech says there for quads, but anyway try this.

With 4GB installed the highest linked and synced I can posy is 1840FSB with the 9.0 multi that = 4.14mhz on cpu. Passed about 10 mins in memtest, tried to boot to Visat and it froze before hitting desktop.
Lowering multi simply lowers the CPU but it does not allow me to post with a higher FSB. I tried some serious volts to the CPU as high as 1.41, which was overvolting to 1.47(that's nuts) still no post.
This board + cpu combo with 4GB is maxing around 4.1 stable linked and synced.
Ran outta time will try some test with just 2GB of RAM, I bet it'll go much higher with only one stick.
Also I want to do some more test with 8GB, seems when one core fails in prime95 it allows the system to carry on priming no problem, may try disabling one core in BIOS to see if it's the extra load the 4th core add.
Its not your cpu, it definitly your ram, i know its made for nvidia boards, but im wondering if this board dont like your ram, i mean come on i put i7 memory 1600 and was able to 2050mgz linked and synced, and you cant even get 2000, something aint right, its not the quad holding you back, its that memory.
Im at a loss, 4gb at 2000 should be no sweat, im going to buy 2 more crucial sticks and run 4x1 and see if my settings will just boot right up. Have you tried the 4 gb in the black slots ? or only white ? maybe switch em. Just something you might try to, is try 2000, with p1 p2 disabled, see if that has affect, and try 8 gigs with p1 p2 off. I would have to say at this point 8gigs aint going to go, just to much memory to overclock, you should work on 4gigs. I will try 4x1 and see what happens.
Remember 2GB RAM and dual core is a heck of alot less stress on the system. Believe me, oc'ing quads is harder. Most of those massive quad overclocks are on a p45 chipset with DDR2 ram. Nvidia has not exactly been known for making highly overclockable chipsets in the past.
When one of my cores fails prime95 with 8GB's it reduces the system stress just enoguh to let the other cores run for hours. It's a very fine line here.
I have tried P1&P2 off with 8GB no improvement. Even tried crazy relaxed ram timings, still NFG. I know there is a magic combo somewhere to get 8GB stable at 1800FSB I just haven't hit it yet. It's very time consuming because I have to reboot to test, more testing tonight.
Hi, I just happened to read this post as I have been running this board previously with a QX9770 & 8Gb of RAM linked at 1800
I've used 4x 1GB Crucial Ballistix 2000 D9GTS, 8Gb Patriot Viper 2000 SLi Samsung HFC0 & 8Gb CSX Diablo 2000 D9GTR.
All were able to run UNLINKED at 2000 & higher but to run them linked I had to lower to 1800 as the QX9770 refused to do 500FSB (2000).
8Gb Patriot Viper at 2000 9-8-8-28 2.0V NB 1.60 NBGTL -0.08mV
8Gb Patriot Viper at 1800 8-8-8-22 1.90v NB 1.60 NBGTL -0.08mV
8Gb CSX Diablo at 2000 8-7-6-19 2.10v NB 1.62
8Gb CSX Diablo at 1800 8-7-6-19 1.95v NB 1.60
always with P1/P2 enabled
The most crucial part is NB voltage, it needs a LOT of it for 8Gb at high speed
loosen tRC: 50-63 & tRFC: 100-110 to test
Hope it helps, I had mixed feelings with this board, many joys & some letdowns, but what is sure is that it is a challenging board
Well it takes 1.56 nbv to run my 2000mgz crucials, and thats with a e8500.
Sangrak is super luckly to have 8GB stable at 1.42 NB it seems.
Neo, I used your 2000 settings for some new 8GB tests @ 1780 linked and Synced and I actually found a decent increase in stability. Prime95 blend held on for 4 tests passed before failing on one core. That's pretty good considering all previous attemps fail before test 1 can complete. I still feel it's possible to get 8GB stable just a question of how much volts is it going to take and where.
Well this is where i am @3.8ghz prime stable for 47mins then one core fails really doing my head in any surgestions.Tried 1t and 2t same fails 47 mins here are the bios settings again.

Q9650 L&S 1780FSB 4.0mhz
I tried 8-8-8-22 2T 63 tRC and 110 tRFC with vMEM 1.96 NB 1.60 and 1.62 -0.08mv Prime95 blend failed in at test 3.
I'll post the other settings when I get home, I feel like it's close, you might be able to get me there Rodriguez. You have given me more hope that's for sure.
Here's a 1 hour Prime run @ 1800. Same settings as my 1780. I'll try to bump it up more when I have the time.
Cant you run cas 7 on those patriots if there only running 1800mgz ? seem like they should cas 7 easy, heck if your going to lose 200mgz, might as well get better timings. My crucials do cas 7 easy at 1800mgz. Trigger i think you might have to compromise, maybe get you quad to 3.8, 3.9, and get your memory to 1900mgz so your sort of losing a little off both ends. Have you tried running unlinked at all ?. Another thing, i wish you guys would post your bios setting in a template, makes it easier to see whats going on.
Here Trigger try these settings, should be very close to working, and gets you pretty solid. I find it hard to believe that he is running 4 gigs at 1800mgz with only 1.42, very hard to believe. I know on my 2 gig kit 2000mgz linked, if i drop down one notch in nbv, it will not run period, i cant get my 2000mgz linked without at least 1.54 1.56 nbv.
