crank it up keep going
Just tried it setting it to turbo and got a modest performance increase but at the expense of some visual anomolies. Ill swiftly take it back off.
Looking in rivatuner, my gpu seems to have been put up from 450 to 495 and my ram has gone from 700 to 738.
Which is 10% on the gpu and who knows how they worked out the memory overclock. Id be intereste dot see how much it raises other peoples clocks by.
ah...well thx lestat, it would appear that setting it to auto, then manually overclocking it performed better than stock @ turbo. I got 159.7 on my doom3 timedemo, which is much better :D
I also wonder then, what the turbo/fast/auto settings do for the memory enhanced mode, I'm guessing auto would give me better oc results as well?
Well, I'll see what she can do above 950mhz on this RAM, but I think I'm restricted by my cooling...looks like its time to upgrade :fact:
450 to 495 wow thats a pretty big increase for the GPU. 700-738 isnt much for the ram.
get better cooling on the card and it will probably work.
open rivatuner and turn on the temp monitor and then run 3dmark or game for a bit and jump and take a look at your temps. see how hot the card is.

I did more testing today as well as changed the BIOS to the latest F6 but I have found the problem on my board, if I try to run the RAM @ anything over 1100 MHZ (with the fsb lowered and the ram multi raised or high fsb low ram multi all combinations fail over 1100MHZ RAM speed) Memtest shows corrupted screens it doesn't even get as far as running to give errors the panel goes gobble de gook, I have tried 2 sets of RAM and both do the same, something is happening that stops the RAM running at over 1100MHZ.
It's a shame as I just got this new Kingston 8500 2GB kit after waiting 3 months and the dam motherboard is holding it back.
Anyone else had or having these issues? If so is there a way to fix it?
Thanks guys.
Hmm, consider my observations very much useless. Was thinking about the numbers and realised my core clock is meant to be 550 at stock and not 450.
I must have reset it incorrectly at some point. This makes the DQ6's attempt at overclocking look pretty feeble! The ram on this thing is known to clock very badly, its an odd card (512mb 7900gt Gainward Golden Sample).
This has happened to me for months. Thank you for speaking up!Quote:

I thought I had the problem solved by plugging my 150GB Raptor 16MB and storage HDD into separate controllers, but it's still happening.

The DS4 is a little different, it doesn't suffer as the S3 and DS3 does, as you yourself can see your getting 1100mhz. on the DS3/S3 you cant even barely go over 950.
this is just one of the drawbacks of buying a cheap mobo.
Well I have mine at Turbo, 458 FSB, mem at 916Mhz without any problems....Quote:

Thanks for the confirmation, I thought I was going mad over the weekend, I kept checking thinking I was doing something wrong.Quote:

What motherboard do you think is the best overall?

i've had mine over 422mhz FSB on turbo also but when you start cranking the high fsb its recommended to turn it off as it starts squeezing things pretty hard.
Very good hope you make a thread about your experience with it, I've just been looking up about those, they certainly look VERY nice, I look forward in anticipation to your results with it.Quote:

If I browse the net while Orthos is running my computer will lock up. Is that normal? Is this an indication of a D9 issue?
My timings are 5-5-5-15 at 1.9v.
I was wondering did u own any other mobos beside a DS3. Some people are facing problems with the ram fsb on DS4 tho. For my case I can do over 1000mhz( orthos stable 6hrs) but not at 1:1 ratio. So far at 1:1 950mhz max boot into windows but will crash soon after I prime it... Weird, I wonder it's my ram, cpu or mobo limiting me?Quote:

I had the HZ at 1000MHz with 4-4-4-12 and 2.3V...but i never properly tested the memory. I'd like to run a 4:5 devider or 2.50 in bios....so as i can run the memory at 1062MHz.
425x8=3.4Ghz, 4:5 is the target.
I think it's normal, i've also tried to do other things while running Orthos and sometimes the program will fail or crash, there isin't enough CPU headroom to be doing other things while running dual prime Orthos...from my experience.Quote:

Both of my boards DS4 and DQ6 c1 can easily Orthos @510fsb . It seems that d9 bug only hits ds3 and s3 users and it's not on bios level, shame on GB
