You can flash back a few ways from the Qflash Problematic BIOS's. All you need to do is flash from DOS with FlashSPI or AWDFlash and you will be fine. @BIOS also works, but I suggest DOS Based flash if possible.

If you need some more info on how to flash using those methods let me know

My P6T Deluxe V2 mobo motherboard is wacked.. So I'm thinking of switching to either the gigabyte UD5 or X58 Extreme. Which one would you guys recommend?

I though this thread was up to page 107. Maybe I'm in the wrong location.

Argh!! And I'm just getting here... I can't fire up my UD5 and make sure its not just a pretty paperweight because I'm waiting on a D0 Stepping CPU. (Was an openbox item)

Has Gigabyte released a BIOS specifically optimised for D0 Steppings yet? According to Anandtech's preview/teaser this made all the difference with their chip.

Ah, you are right. I'm still wading through this thread and looked at the BIOS info. F5 introduced D0 support and F6 is supposed to have improved upon it... good to know. Thanks. :)

How hot does the northbridge cooler assembly get on the UD5? I'm sure its mentioned somewhere but I've just not found it yet. Since I'll slap a waterblock onto the CPU I'm looking at what can be rigged up to sufficiently cool everything for some serious overclocking. :)

I'm not able to get the 215MHz Bclk stable. I tried everything...for 210MHz I don't need much QPI/VTT, but after it, it is not possible to run prime! I can hardly Bench with 220MHz but stable is far away!

All cpu... getting over 210 is good IMO.

Sorry but i dont agree. I have done DOC overclocking when a prometheia was the best you could get. And i dont whant that kind of power consumption anymore.

Let me explane a bit:

My current i7 920 @ 3.6 GHz @ 1.25v (uncore at 2900 QPI voltage stock.) was using about 330 watt in a full prime load. But then i tried to get to 4000 MHz and a uncore of 3200. I used 1.52v and 1.55 uncore. My power draw then became a stunning 440 watt load. bot only 400 MHz. Thats not worth it in costs. Uncore was doing a 40-45 watt extra the rest was for the CPU cores.

Same with my old X1900 XTX. I lowered the power draw 60 watt full load. and only lost 20 MHz on the core gained about 50 on mem. so the performance was almost the same.

I'm trying to clock for the most optimal performance per watt. I dont need those 400 mhz all the time. its only interesting for benshmarking. And when i do that i will unleash that power. But i have a low power high performance setting for 24/7 usage and folding.

Yeah but 400mhz at the expense of almost an extra .3 on just the vcore is a brutal trade-off to begin with. It would make more sense too me if you ran your system at stock with the power saving options in full swing, then let her loose when benching. IMO, and that is honestly just that...an opinion is that people who need to overclock and have power saving are just typical 'Have my cake and eat it to' types that try to blur the lines between the obvious.

1.52v for 4ghz is crazy. I got rid of 6 920's cause I could not get 4.2ghz with less than 1.40v. Sell that cpu quick and get a DO.

Hey guys I'm new to i7 world but have a question...
I've attempted 200bclk/2000Mhz memory OC with an EX58-Extreme F6 BIOS
but failed to get it stable...possibly CPU issue?
I have a C0 and a D0 stepping but both can't run that 2000Mhz memory.
Memory was Kingston HyperX CL8-2000 6G Kit with Elpida ICs.
Memtest shows "Unhandled Exception" then freezed the testing process.
What should I do? vCore @1.375v, vQPI @1.515v vDIMM @1.64v vIOH @1.3v all set @ BIOS, CPU is @ air cooling using CM Hyper N620.

Imo, the only power savings option that makes sense to me after playing for a week with kill-watt-meter, from finance point (ignoring any collective green effect from masses) is S3/S4 or turning your computer off when not using it on vacation, etc.

My OCed computer always on costs me $21 per month. Using S3 (for when not in use for 20 mins), it cost $5 per month for the computer (cheap electricity where I live). So I save $16 per month per computer. (In new York you would save $32 per month per such computer). And just takes a few seconds more to come on after hitting spacebar vs putting monitor to sleep.

Adding EIST, C1E, DES, C6/C7 to first scenario saves between 1-2 dollar per month or <50 cents per month if already using S3. If using S3, even saving 50W idle is only going to save you <$1 per month if you use your computer 6 hrs per day (much more important to save idle W then load, unless folding, as average will always be much closer to idle. If not using S3/S4 then will save you $2-$3.

To each his own, but only power savings I am interested in, is powering system down with S3 when not in use.

Mine is off when it's not is use, and when it's off it's pulling the residual power from my UPS's battery. It's doesn't get anymore efficient than that.

I've finally been at home enough to finish putting my new rig together--no RMAs thank goodness! Before I start pushing the system and taking advantage of the rest of this thread, I'm trying to set up the basics.

I'm having a tough time understanding the SATA management in BIOS on this board. I'm pretty solid on most other system basics, but my previous experience with multiple SATA headers was limited to a 4 channel add on card on my last rig.

My goal is as follows--
Using BIOS settings, shift between two SATA setups (all drives mentioned below are SATA):
Setup #1
Drive #1 w/ OS#1;
SATA Optical Drive
Setup #2
Drive #2 with OS#2 with an additional storage drive (drive #3, accessible to OS/drive #2)
SATA Optical Drive same drive as Setup #1

I think that there is a way that I should be able to use the ex-58's ports and bios settings to be able to switch between these two setups, but I haven't gotten my arms around it yet. Should I be setting up one OS on the ICH10 and the other on one of the Gigabyte ports? How can I get either ICH10 or the Gigabyte/JMicron to do separate drive-based volumes? How would you guys approach achieving this setup?

god i really love it...

F7c -> cant boot with more then 1.335V QPI voltage, everything higher (1.355V) -> oc recover, even with stock cpu settings....

Guys could it be a CPU problem?...
I can't boot up 201 bclk with 2:10 memory multiplier...
but with 2:8 multi it worked just fine.
Tried both F5G and F7C BIOS still no luck. Seems F7C's even worse.
With my D0 CPU seems F5G's not a good choice.
When I try 166 bclk + 2:12 multiplier I can fun 2000Mhz memory without a problem...
Anyone? Please help...:(

whats your uncore multi?

Stock uncore multi afair is 18x -> and with 200mhz bclck thats 3600mhz. For such a high uncore clock you would need to increase the qpi V and the Ram voltage quite a bit.

Like hornet said likely uncore issue or could be mem issue, with 166bclk and 2:12, memory is 166x12=1992mhz and uncore must be at least 2x mem (or no boot) so 24x166=3984mhz. Trying 201 with 10x multi raises both the mem and uncore, mem is now 2010mhz and minimum uncore is 20x201=4020mhz.

I would try 24x uncore, 168bclk, and 12x mem and if that works then it is a problem with the 10x multi. Some have had issues with particular bioses and certain dividers. If that fails to boot, then like Hornet said you need to raise qpi and ram volts, the extra 20 mhz mem and 40mhz uncore may not sound like much but you are getting up there where a little more uncore matters.
